Crazy trivia! I didn't know World Gym became 'The Gym'. I've seen this place tagged several times on IG. . Thought it was a new chain starting. Looks massive!! I deff will make the trek from LA one of these weekends. Just today I trained at one of the few World Gyms left in Tujunga area. Think there's 3-4 left in So.Cal. Sad
Got juicy back in the day at Worlds San Dog in 2003 and hitting the beach in PB and smashing some pre-workout. Hit a PR that day then hit up a oriental massage for some work.
LoL I have to laugh @"Brad" claiming to be an "owner".. he is not an owner, he was brought in as a worker only because he developed a friendship with Rick Stephenson, far after that gym was founded back in the early late seventies, bought out by Gold"s Gym Venice owner Ed Connors in 1986, Brad didn't get there till 1990 91... When Rick hired him to work the front desk.
So funny. I knew the original founders and all due respect I do not know this current owner . I’m sure he’s a nice guy. It stated with 3 guys founding it as golds then they 3 owners split. Rick Stephenson was one of the 3. Then new owners took over. I’m an old man so don’t mean any disrespect. The other owner was my training partners cousin from Pennsylvania. Is my memory serving me right about brad not being one of the founders. Once they split up two of the guys opened a golds in San Marcos that I believe is no longer there. I remember working out in the original small golds and buying tights lol. I then trained at this worlds years ago. Brad if you are reading this is this correct about the history?
11:21 11:21 Brad's a bull 🐂 shit artist. BTW Rick came in 1986, years after this gym opened. There were several "owners" in 1986 when Ed Connors of Gold's Venice bought out the old owner, Rick was one of about 8 guys.
Gold's Gym San Marcos was run by Jon Depolo, a front desk Guy from this gym, that gym also had about 6 or 7 "owners", including Rick. That gym failed, as did the Oceanside gym this same crew tried to run. Fact is Rick and the others at this Pacific Beach gym are not very good business men AND the only reason this Pacific Beach gym successful is this unique location.
??? what you talking about rich gaspari is a hall of famer and supplement business owner who turns over $100m per year , hes the real deal one of the most tenacious hardcore trainers there ever was in bodybuilding ...bad llllololololll
@@chachifeere NO. They held shares for gaspari only after he went into chapter 11 and bankruptcy . He held options and shares of the new company which hitech partly owned and he bought out hi techs share a long time ago boy.

Is this old footage? I went recently and they’ve rebranded as “The Gym.” The layout also seems different
The title says, "Formerly Known As World Gym," and the Owner Brad has a The Gym shirt on, and the last lines of the video talk about the new name.
Should of kept the name world gym. History with that name
cool series! Back in the Day there was no one that could touch Gaspari's intensity! Maybe Mike Quinn! lol...
