Platinum Egoiste was actually created for the US market because at the time of its release, we were gravitating heavily towards fresher, sportier scents and Egoiste just didn't hit it here like it did back in Europe. The OG is an extremely formal scent- smells like Cinnamon and champagne combined sort of, but it definitely is suited for white table cloths and chandeliers and tuxedo's. I've smelled it but just too heavy for me, it honestly would only fly in the winter time. Platinum Egoiste is much more versatile But yes- I've been wearing platinum since I was 19 and I'm 26 now. Notorious B.I.G. even mentioned it in a rap song way back when. This thing was the real deal back in its day and still nothing else compares. I absolutely love it! Its something different.

Egoiste Platinum is an outstanding fragrance. It’s the fragrance that you don’t necessarily want to give attention to, because you’ve upgraded to niche or have a variety of scents… then before you know it, you find yourself reaching for Egoiste platinum the most and then the bottle is totally empty. And to top that, it’s definitely a crowd pleaser. People WILL compliment you.
Picked Platinum Egoiste up last weekend, Macy's had Chanel 15% off so price was better than on discounters, etc.. perfect for transitional seasons like you said..this is great for work, meetings, formal, etc... personlly I wouldn't wear with Tshirt & jeans but if you wanted to you could lol. Definitely underrated out of the Chanels
I picked this one up at dillards and couldn't believe how good it was. This is a legit barbershop type fragrance. I'm still a fan of BDC and ADG Parfumo.
I believe the original Egoiste was a spicy oriental type and I remember it felt odd that Platinum Egoiste was a flanker of it because from what I remember the DNA of Platinum didn't align with Egoiste. I bought it when it first came out and have had it since - it was my signature scent for at least 15 years and still is an anchor to my collection. Chanel is amazing in general - this fragrance is a surprise classic from their line. The only other thing I remember about Egoiste (not platinum but the original) was the commercial they always played that kept showing a woman in a window of a French building, yelling 'EGOISTE!!!" as the camera panned away from her quickly, over and over and over.... Great commercial
Great review man. Love this scent. Really clean and fresh. Moving towards the classic fragrances now. I'm hoping that a new trend of barbershop fragrances come back. Love Dior eau savage parfum. I love it when you start by wearing fragrances for others and then you start wearing them for yourself. If you are chasing compliments, you'll only end up disappointed.
I was looking for a clean, fresh and slightly spicy scent for sports (mainly running outdoor) and allday-occasions. Since I can not stand freshies with showergel-DNAs, my choice fell down on Platinum Egoiste... I already own Percival from PdM (the only showergel scent I really like) and Creed Green Irish Tweed, but I needed something cheaper. P.E. is very refreshing as well.

Big fan of this genre, really enjoy Paco Rabanne Por Homme, and Azzaro Por Homme, and the intense version also. Really liking Eau Sauvage Parfum, i think it might be my favorite barbershop Fougiere surpassing Paco Rabanne.
Ive been using since about '96. I was a teenager and treated myself to a trip to a Neiman Marcus and the gave me a sample and Ive been hooked ever since. I don't wear any fragrance, personally, but its been the signature scent for my car since I started driving. Also I burn the oil in my studio and occasionally swipe some on my leather jacket. MmMmm

I actually haven’t tried the Parfum flanker but the original Eau Sauvage is in the same genre as Platinum Egoiste!
