“Mera kuch saman…” there would be hardly anyone who wouldn’t relate to this movie who has ever loved somebody..
Today finally I watched this masterpiece.
The movie is so simple yet so elegant. The dialogues were so powerful that it didn’t require any masala.. it will touch your heart and leave you in heart wrenching pain, make you realise, in Love - Nobody is Wrong and then you realise maybe some pain can’t be heal with time… broken heart can’t be healed they just start living with that pain… 💔❤️

Is film mein yah dikhaya gaya hai Insan ki jindagi aur pyar Ki Kashmakash sath sath hi chalti Hai aur Kai bar inko balance karna bahut mushkil ho jata hai. Ab Rahi baat hamare verdict ki everyone has to remember life has man dimensions.
Don't judge any relationship very quickly.

One of the best parallel cinema ever made in Indian film industry. My current generation is so unlucky that we do not have much movies made today. Naseeruddin, Rekha, Kamal Hassan, Sri Devi, Shabana Azmi, Smita Patil, Faroukh Shaikh, Amol Palekar, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Deepti naval were the real heroes and stars of superb acting in Bollywood industry.

Nandita Das stands heads and shoulders among today's actors, directors and now producers (new release Zwigato), though keep in mind that her first film was FIRE in 1996. She was doing theater and especially meaningful street theater since the late 1980's. She could have given in to the madness that is skin lightening and gone mainstream but has stayed true overall to the artistic world.

Why did you add sri devi name in it she has nothing to do with it she is south indian actress she used to act well but cant bring out her emotions like others and no command on hindi her bad diction till her last film. I think she didn't fall under parallel cinema category in any way better you should say tabbu vidya etc

She left the relationship so gracefully!! No abusive fighting, no domestic violence. We should all try to follow this. Either two people should stick together gracefully because time heals everything or they should separate silently and with dignity.

    *SPOILER ALERT*
I can totally resonate with everyone in the comments section here. I stumbled upon this movie only because I was intrigued by listening the song "Choti si kahani se". I'm glad I decided to watch it.
This movie is indeed a gem. Such great intelligent, mature characters, so beautifully written and acted.
The pain started to creep in from the moment Maya got involved in the accident. Tears started shedding when Shashi Kapoor identified who Naseer was and smiled at him 😩
This is one of those rare movies where everyone is nice to everyone else. They are sensitive, vulnerable, sensible, empathetic, confused. The hidden villain here is feelings, broken communication and some lost moments. Perfect melancholy. ❤️

You will able to realize the pain of a lonely, widowed father when a daughter leaves him to join her beloved for marriage. This was also a heart touching ending presented by director Hrishikesh Mukherjee.

It's been such a long time I have seen the movie and still cannot get over it. Despite of being mature and sensible adults, how easily we loose sight between right and wrong. How easily the depth of our sorrow consumes us. How impossible it becomes to walk back into the lives that we once took for granted. It's only a matter of moments that changes everything forever. And you find yourself sitting in a waiting room for your turn. This movie is what life is all about. Love, trust, loneliness, innocence, heartbreak, loss, grief, hope.

I love everything that Gulzar sahab has done. I think Ijazat is the epic of all his work and it fulfilled my desire to the point that I watched it in 7 hours, rewinding each dialogue 3, 4 times not to miss anything at all it’s like looking at a painting in a gallery.
The last scene where Naseer sab is left alone on the platform summarizes the story of our lives. Loneliness defined in the most pinching way.
The editing of the movie keeps you engaged and the audience is waiting for the next part to get answers for their questions.
I can’t stop writing about this film. It’s the best thing produced by the Indian film industry. Masterpiece!

Lovely movie. Practical advice to men : move on. Male character was in love with two women. People say it's a mistake. Yes, maybe. But that's why it's a mistake. It happened unknowingly. He tried his best to keep Maya away. Maya wanted a child from him and asked him to marry Sudha. Sudha asked him to marry Maya. Both of them acted cool with him. Maya attempted suicide and Sudha mentioned her mother's suicide if they didn't get married. The women thoroughly confused him as well . When I say 'women' , I also mean to say the 2 situations. Nothing against women. This film is so lovely because it is real. That's how men and women are. Male character even told Sudha to not think about past and to move ahead and he wanted help to do that . But coming back to practical advice ...to all the broken hearts on RUclips!....move on...take a baby step. It takes lot of time but it will heal. It will heal if one doesn't keep photo of ex gf or ex wife in the wallet ! Be practical ...get re-married like Sudha...and put in pics of little kids. Or maybe climb Everest . Both are fine. Give yourself a goal , that's important. Fantastic movie !

Naseer took both the relations for granted and that's y he ended up being alone. Rekha loved him truly n left him for her own dignity. Anuradha also loved him in a candid way, initially she kind of interfered in their marriage but in innocent way.. Later she understood what damage she has done and then she left and died.. Well moral of the story is always listen to ur heart wen it comes to love be courageous n take a step and avoid all the complexities ahead.. And even if u marry someone else then be strict to marital boundaries and resect the relationship..

Poignant movie. A masterpiece. Just couldn’t stand and digest Rekha behaving like she was still his wife and falling at his feet after all that she had to face. Especially after being married to a gem like Shashi Kapoor. And Naseeruddin behaving like a typical MCP. Ridiculous. Shashi Kapoor stole the show with his charm and dignified expressions.

Actually she loved him....that's why she is trying to give respect him. Although doing household chores is loving act to her ....because of her love for him. Here Mahendra never force her to do things for him.

It's called love and care and forgiveness to her ex husband, and letting him know that he missed out on good thing. Love Rekha Ji and love the movie.

This is one of most sensitive movie based on human relationship is all about, I have ever watched. Gripping story, spectacular performances by lead actors Naseeruddin Shah, Rekha and Anuradha Patel. Awesome music, and mind therapeutic songs, particularly - Naa jaane kyun. The surprise ending, climax, editing, best direction, natural acting, simply superb.

Naseeruddin Shah is an excellent actor without any good looks. He looks below average but exceptionally talented. In this generation getting a chance to act with this look is beyond imagination, because directors today give tolerance to good looks only to play a lead.

If audience would not have been there 374k people would not have seen this film. 94 people can not decide what cinema india likes. Why films like Kesri, Batla house, Uri, Tanaji otherwise are blockbusters? Mature audience nahi hoti to sirf phaltu films like dabang hi hit hoti

This is a poetry in motion.

Gulaz Saab is a magician and his pairing with Burman da was out of this world!!!
