In this video, I show how to protect watermelon plants. There are a lot of bugs that go after watermelon plants. Some of those pests are aphids, cucumber beetles, and squash bugs. Companion planting is a great way to disguise the scent of the melon plants. This works for many types of plants. Having onions in the garden is a great companion plant. Many bugs do not like the scent of onions. Having onions in the garden provides a great barrier to fight the bugs. Using a row cover or insect netting is also a great strategy to have in the garden. This will block the pest from getting on the young seedlings. The row cover will need to come off the plant as the flowers start to set.
Good ideas, Bear. That reminds me to get some onions growing this spring.
HEY Fred!!! Thanks. I'm glad you liked the ideas. Yes, onions are great.

HEY Kawake!!! Yes, grow them! You totally got this. You are right. The onions grow easy.
love your vids, and yes some bugs hate onion, sadly i need to also protect my onions: onion fly larva eats the bulbs and trips kills the greens...
HEY Icemage21k, thanks. I really appreciate your comment. Wow, I did not know about the onion fly. I will be on the lookout for it. Thanks for the info.
Another great video! Im going to get my onions started. Thanks for sharing!
Hey Anita!!!!!! I appreciate your kind comment. That's great. You are going to get your onions started. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I plant onions near all of my plants. Great video
HEY, Connita!!! It is great that you are using the onions for protection. I'm glad you liked the video!!
Brotha coming with another banger. Also, dunno about what squash bugs do you have, but here, they like mini devil spawns, very fast, small and disappear in an istant. Also these dammn thrips 😢 haha nice tips ❤
HEY, Wellerson!!!! Thanks, I'm glad you liked the video. The squash bugs are the worst. They will eat a plant down. They hatch very fast and are a pain.
Ty Bear Brow
HEY No problem. Anytime
Yo I thanks for the tips 👍🇦🇺
HELLO Bushskills!! No problem, anytime. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Nice video, Bro Bear! Been waiting on these videos, because I've started my seeds ON TIME this year😅
HELLO Marie Vay.Den41!!!!! It's great you have started your seeds on time👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 I'm glad you are ready for the videos. How did your garden do last year?
@GrowSomethingTasty awww Man, the horn worms and aphids were pretty rude, Lol! But I have way more flowers and changed up that companion planting. Thennn, the watermelon came out tasting like cucumbers cause they were planted too close..Me and Hubby have been learning this last season and we ready!
@marievay.den4165 That is great. You all are ready. Experiences really help for the next season. I planted basil near my tomato plants. The hornworms did not touch my tomatoes. I must plant my basil.
@@GrowSomethingTasty oh yess, basil, marigold and alyssum will be everywhere this season LOL
So I’m curious, what’s the smelly secret weapon?
Onion smell 😅😢
Time to take a shower
Ha ha! HEY Roger
Yes, it's the onion smell.
HEY Denise. It's the smell of the onions
Where are you located?
HELLO Bernadette!!!! I'm in South Carolina.
I think youre onto a hand full of things
HELLO Baron, I appreciate it. Thanks for the comment and for watching.
I wanted all organic but im putting it sevin granuals underground demaceous earth on top. I cant do the buggies
Yes, I hear you. The bugs are bad. I got something that dug through my carrot bed. Take care. I got to go clean some fish.
Why do you prefer that brand of worm cast compared to the basic 1 from lows?
HEY Rawhoney!!! I used a basic brand from lowes. I just felt the vermisterra brand is a higher quality when I compared the 2. Some gardeners on youtube turned me on to it even before I had a channel.
it smells like that?!? interesting!
HELLO CURLYKIKI! Yes, it smells great
