A similar thought process can be applied to choosing between future job opportunities too! At the end up the day, you really want to commit to and invest in something that will give you purpose and fulfillment, and is in line with your values - whatever they are!
Thank you for talking earnestly about this topic~ Grad school is such a huge commitment, and oftentimes the amount of financial resources needed ends up crippling the very people it's meant to help.
This is really a great video. Hope the algorithm gets this in front of students before they step off the cliff. Buuut, Full ride to Ivy league?? Sign me up!!! Would love to hear your insight into scholarships! 🙏
Hey Ricardo Just noticed your video today. I'm from India and with a undergrad degree in mechanical engineering. I've been working as a mech design engineer for over 3 years, while also doing graphic design as a side hustle. Now, I'm looking to transition into a full-time career in UI/UX design and am considering pursuing a master's degree in USA. Could you provide some advice on selecting the right school and understanding the job prospects abroad as an international student? 🤔
My background education is psychology and i have worked in management of corp wellness programs. In designing initiatives from a human factors / human centered approach I found my way into UX from that…. As well as I have been a wheel thrown pottery maker must of my life (on the side and was actually a production potter full time for 3 years so much of my “design” pallet comes from that. *while I currently have plenty to read now in UXgrad school… what is 1 book you might suggest for general Design theory…. Like the primary core of design principles…. Not the specific stuff I am learning
Psychology is a great undergrad major to pair with UX design since UX is very much grounded in human behavior. I would also add that your pottery background gives you a sensibility towards craftsmanship that will come in handy in the UI / production side of UX, definitely some of the unique traits about your journey that I would highlight when putting together your portfolio. Also, I love the book question! Let me think about it more, seems like a great topic for another video. :)
