Looks like they've used a lot of parts from Unreal engines 3D designs anyone can buy online. Evidently someone made a 3d model of the spaceship interiors from the Alien movie they bought online and plugged into the game, along with a bunch more. Why develop original art when you can buy plug in parts and spend the development money on meaningless hype for the no-lifers?
@@LDillon I'm not about to try to prove an opinion. Nothing is exactly like the available models. They bought the parts, basically after the 3d framework and textures and tweaked them enough so most people wouldn't know what they've done. @@adventureseekersparadise You're correct. Why waste development time on creating those parts if easy plug and play versions exist? It frees up time to work on other areas of the game. I almost fully agree but the one concern that wasn't addressed at all was planetary travel. How do we get across these vast procedurally generated landscapes? Are there buggies, cars, bikes? Surely we don't have to walk everywhere...
@@LDillon if you ever played NMS you'd realize how fun jetpacking from location to location is! But then again, hope they also copy NMS in the amount of land vehicles they offer...lmao
@@MinosML Oh definitely, I love the jetpack in NMS! And yeah I hope so too haha, NMS has so many vehicles!
5:20 being a major Star Wars fan I have often heard the various pilots ordering the crew ext to convert power to different parts of the ship for whatever is needed and it’s always to give them a tactical advantage in some way! So to learn that Starfield will have this feature is truly amazing and I’m shocked by the pure realism which makes me so excited for the game!!!
@@Izzak_Beck See, what I like more about this system than Squadrons is it's a pool. It's not all or nothing. Maybe with a full flight set-up they give you that level of control in Squadrons, idk I've never played with one, but I hated how putting my weapons up meant tanking my shields AND my maneuverability.
That Xbox Showcase was absolutely incredible. The end of it when they just spammed all the logos of every game we saw was just hype. Starfield honestly looks like the most ambitious and impressive game we have ever seen
Starfield is just crazy, I was tearing up like a weird nerd seeing certain parts of the presentation. Looks like it might be the game of a lifetime tbh.

The more I see what they’re doing with Starfield. The more I get excited about ES6. IMAGINE the scale of that game and the amount of content they’ll pour into it!
@@davidgreen8431 honestly if Starfield delivers - I'm fine with a game every 10 years. Skyrim and Fallout 4 delivered too. I prefer Bethesda's style. Focus on one game by and large and take your time on it so its actually special when it arrives.
I didnt think bethesda still had it in them to get me hype for their projects, but they done did it. They got me hype, and i hope they deliver on that hype.
Matty what I got from the procedural aspect is that they basically hand crafted a ton of locations outside of the game world, threw them in an array and then get a random index from that array to place somewhere within the world. What I hope is that the location that was placed is then removed from that array so it doesn't feel too cheap or repetitive, I would also like to think of them as the random encounters from their previous games but on a much much larger concept!
So imagine like vault 22 from new vegas along with its unique location quest just placed randomly on any given playthrough... to me that sounds pretty wild!
Ya, I think matty isn't quite understanding what was said. The procedural stuff isn't so much like content that is procedurally generated on the spot for the player, it's more procedural in the sense of where the hand made content is placed based on where the player goes. So like how in Skyrim when you have the dragonborn DLC, the cultists come to find you, and that can happen pretty much in any town or city you are in and isn't in some specific location. This is just on a much grander scale where they not only do that for the NPCs, like the cultists, but the entire location of the questline. This way, no matter where the player goes, there will always be handmade content to find.
Yes, procedural does not mean random, it is simply an efficient way to store data (the original Elite game did this), and building the planet as you approach simply mean that is is put together from preset data once it is needed. What is random are the encounters, from what I understand, such as smaller locations (non-main story stuff) and possibly other events -- who knows what they put in there. From what I gather a barren world will be barren with the same hills and valleys for all, a lush world will be the same as that for another player, but the handmade content on there will be the random encounter, and so on. Story crucial stuff will of course not be randomised, as have been mention in other videos.
I would imagine that they have a set of locations that have a varying layout, like the abandoned mining outpost we saw as "minor locations" that can repeat. Then there is "major locations" with quests and NPCs that don't repeat and might even have a fixed planet or part of the space where they appear. At least this is how I would do it lol, a system like this has a ton of options, like doing super rare encounter and such. That said, it looked like many planets had like one or two locations so it might be that all of them are actually "major" rather than "minor"
@Pants I've actually played fallout 4 and the gun play is dreadful compared to what we saw at that the direct it was like night and day I could really see the difference between the gunplay
@@bilbosaggins3663 I was so impressed by it. gunplay is what kept my friend from picking up fallout 4 but I think he’ll definitely try his first Bethesda game now bc of just that alone
@@bilbosaggins3663 yeah but the first demonstration they had of it looked a lot worse and then it was later revealed that they had contracted id software to help them overhaul the design of the gun place systems. So the fact that the first look we got was really choppy and terrible kind of tells me that this is the actual gameplay because he was the actual gameplay the first time, and Microsoft gave the money to hire a studio that focuses on gunplay to fix it.
I'm really hoping the Adoring Fan is immortal like in Oblivion. Imagine killing him on some moon and then he appears back in some spaceport and mentions his lucky escape from said moon.
I was so pleasantly surprised how close he looked to his oblivion counterpart while not looking out of place. Sounds like it could be the og voice actor too!
Got some nice Firefly feels from Freestar Collective and Crimson Fleet gave heavy Belter vibes from The Expanse. As a Mass Effect, Star Trek, Star Wars and Babylon 5 fan I miss seeing cool sentient aliens, glad the all-human cast and robots seem intestering.
@@aeringothyk5445 thats such an unfair comparison. 76 was developed almost exclusively in the Newly acquired (at the time) Austin studio. Todd and 1 or 2 other leads made the lore and story ideas for the initial 76 release but the mainline single player A team in Maryland has been working on starfield since Fallout 4 ended. 76 should’ve never been associated with the name bethesda. I think 76 is actually a pretty fun game now and its nice to get new fallout content regularly until fallout 5 but it isn’t truly the bethesda team responsible for FO4, FO3,, Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim. If somebody said “I didn’t like fallout 4 so starfield worries me” then that is a just comparison. I disagree whole heartedly but it at least makes sense. All in all everytime this specific bethesda games studios team releases a game it wins like all of the GOTY awards. I expect this to be no different. I will get 1,000’s of hours of enjoyment from it in the coming years of my life. Even if I take a break I know I will come back. Just like the fallouts and the elder scrolls games

I really think that they meant procedurally place the hand made areas, so it would fit the terrain, so your bandit base will be in a different place than your friends. That forces you to explore the planet every playthrough, instead of going stright to the objective.
I meant that to some level you are forced to re-explore the planet at least enough to get the quest lines going. Even if you want to rush things, you gotta go back to a Explorer mindset, I think that could be a good thing if done well. Exploring will be great as long as things arent too hard to reach, then it could be a little annoying (thus people asking for vehicles)
I have never been so excited for a game that I am imagining what I am going to do. Bases, ship, career, good guy, bad guy, so much to do and I CANNOT WAIT! Shaping up to be THE game I always wanted.
Thank you Matty for all the content and everything you do. Enjoyed the showcase stream today and let us all be excited for “Starfield”. Continue the amazing and hard work each day!
Did you guys pay attention to the improved graphics? New Atlantis looks way better, Sara’s face looks better too and also her eyes, the animations aren’t the best out there but they look smoother compared to the last year’s gameplay, the planets and the different environments look amazing, I can’t wait. I think I’m getting the Premium bundle even though I have Game Pass.
The outdoors look very good, almost photorealistic. Especially at 0:41 and 13:40 and the inside of the spaceship. I never expected such eye catching visuals from Bethesda.
Starfield is officially my most anticipated game. Idk how it couldn't be after watching that direct. If it delivers i think it could seriously win goty. Also my God does the gunplay look so much beefier. It looks so good. When they initially showed it it looked kinda floaty. God Howard has done it again
On your point at around 8:25 about avoiding ship shootouts with enemies/bad guys, they showed one mechanic where a religious trait choice allowed the player to avoid ship combat with a faction. So it's at least possible that the mechanic could show up in other ways too.
My favorite part about this Starfield deep dive was the feeling of old school Morrowind/Oblivion Bethesda. The way the camera focuses on the characters and the style of the talking animations just feel like classic Bethesda/Obsidian style storytelling.
i literally jumped out of my seat when i saw the adoring fan lol never thought i would be excited to see that guy. some of my favorite games of all time are no mans sky and star citizen this feels like their love child and I'm all here for it.
It looks so good man. I basically just went in expecting a slightly better version of last year’s showcase but 30 min this time but this blew me away. Honestly overwhelmed with what they showed. The potential is truly incredible. My only concern is the procedural stuff but I trust them to get it right with how great the game looks. So excited for September 1st, shoutout 5 days early
Every elder scrolls or fallout game has been procedural. And the tech has been getting better with each game, but I get what you mean, on such a large scale it would be easy for them to miss glitches with the procedural system. From what little we have seen so far though, looks like they got it down
I was absolutely giddy the entire time, I didn't once see or hear something and think "Oh, I was expecting that to be better/different". I also literally laughed out loud when they showed off the adoring fan. Definitely hyped for this game, as if I weren't already before lol
I'm trying to keep my expectations realistic. The games industry has left us disappointed so many times that I really don't want to get my hopes too high for a game like this, but I have to admit I was really impressed by what Bethesda showed! My biggest concern right now is that they've included so many different mechanics and gameplay features that I'm worried it could be a case of "size of an ocean, depth of a puddle", how fleshed out are the things like weapon crafting, ship building, procedural generation, companion questlines? etc. It seems really ambitious even for BGS but I hope they blow us away when we all play it on release. I also hope BGS have addressed the/my biggest problem in all their games, where by the end you are basically this god who has saved the world, and who is part of every faction and the game world doesn't really react to that. Is it going to be in Starfield I can be an explorer, a pirate, a diplomat, or a bounty hunter? Or am I just going to end up being all of these things by the end of the game? And is the world going to react accordingly if I decide to be an evil pirate and decide to just terrorize entire systems? Maybe a bounty will be put on me and I won't be able to go to cities without getting attacked for example. Maybe I'm expecting too much RPG from BGS as they've always leaned more towards the adventure/exploration side of things and been a bit lighter on RPG elements but hopefully we see a game world that is more dynamic and believable than ever before
After watching Starfield Direct it really does look like the Bethesda employees put their whole heart and soul into the making of this game. You can see the passion that’s been put into this game. Can’t wait to experience it when it comes out.
@@ghostofuchiha3807 Did No Man's Sky, Fallout 76, and Cyberpunk have 45-minute directs filled with comments from passionate developers? Also, did you say much-hyped games like Elden Ring, RE8, RDR2, etc. were gonna flop?
Space battles and local law keepers scanning your ship for contraband remind me of Freelancer! I really didn't except that :D I also love how Starfield is a glorious mix of every game Bethesda has ever made but in space!
I had tears by the end. So much excitement for this game. The delay was well worth it from what I saw, least till I have the game loaded and ready to hit play ;)
Yes your background matters in space travel, they literally said during the show (and showed it on screen) one of the devs picked " serpents embrace" and said a group of pirates let him pass because he had the same religion. You can hail and talk to ships from your cockpit
I can’t wait to play this game I don’t care if this game is 60 frames per second or 30. if the game is great, and I’m having fun, that’s all that matters to me I could care less about the frames or the graphics. If I want that I’ll go play on PC. the cold steel one music 🔥🔥🔥
The world looks cool, but it’s gonna come down to the writing and characters for me. Bethesda’s games are always big and fun to run around in, but I want quests and characters that I actually care about and that keep me interested in playing through the entire story for once.
I think the procedural insertion is awesome. Things I REALLY liked about classics like Daggerfall, Morrowind and Diablo II, is that parts of the map were randomized and you couldn't just blindly walk to your next objective, but you actually had to go explore and find it, no matter if you played the same area before on an earlier playthrough. Yes, it does mean the developers have to be careful to make sure that things don't feel "generated", but especially Bethesda has shown in the past that they could pull this off, so I'm really excited about it!
What I loved the most about the showcase was how in-touch Bethesda really is with their community. They knew exactly what we wanted to see and they made sure to let us know it's all there. Like right off the bat, Todd reassures the audience that the game is playbale in first or third person which is a hallmark of their games. Then they go on to basically show the legacy of all their previous games including their iconic physicalized items that you can take, inspect or randomly throw around around the environment at will, again another Bethesda hallmark. Even the adoring fan bit was more than just a meme, it was a way of instilling a sense of comfort and familiarity within their fans and showing how you can feel right at home in Starfield.
Really feels full circle, been subbed since the beginning of the fallout 4 hype machine. It's crazy to see how much has changed and how much is still the same. Love the channel man, keep growing!
The "point system" for your ship is straight out of Elite Dangerous. They call them pips in the game. Elite Dangerous looks basically empty by comparison, but yeah Elite has had that ship power config thing going on for years and it looks very similar. Elite also does the cargo scan thing to check for smugglers, which varies by planet and solar system.
Haha it’ll be just like ToTK. Trolls trying to tear it apart for looking like BoTW with 30FPS but it still ended up selling 10 million in 3 days and is now a GoTY front runner. At the end of the day, it’s all about gameplay.
Excellent video. I was already hyped for Starfield, but WOW. This was mind-blowing. I just hope they deliver on the hype they just set off throughout game world.
YES! Matty, great review and commentary. After watching the BGS preview release, I am absolutely in awe about what is to come. I mean, they set the stage for this stupendous open world RPG that will mark a standing stone for modern games to date. When you have the main man, Todd Howard, host this and put his stamp of support approval on this. Talking us through what to expect. The benchmark just went sky-high above all else we have experienced to date. WOW! Just, wow.... 😵💫
I really like that they showed some more modern/old school weapons like the 1911 and at one point an AK. I'm fine with future guns, but seeing those got me real excited
I'm very excited to see what kind of horror/suspense elements BGS put into this game. I feel like they teased it a tiny bit but they've got to have some of those creepy locations and side quests for sure.
I hope that was an Alien Power being used at the end. It was incredible. I can't believe that I'm just as excited as I was from the FO4 E3 show. Can't wait!
I've been waiting for a game to give me space in the way Firefly gave us space, and I feel like this is coming closest yet. Also the starting ship reminds me a lot of Serenity
I'm blown away, even as a long time BGS fan, that if you board a ship on a planet it's possible it will take off and you'll be stranded in space as a stowaway. The emergent gameplay is going to be insane!
The contraband scan was in Elite Dangerous. A lot of the ship navigation and power allocation elements were also in Elite Dangerous. I’m excited for Starfield.

Starfield looks great, but hearing that the game is lockes to 30 FPS on Series X is such a slap in the face. What’s the point of hyping up how powerful this console is if a tentpole release can’t run at 60 FPS?
I love how you say you feel so listened to. Because.. that’s exactly how the community should feel. This is quite literally the culmination of their work from the past 25 years!
The 30fps will always end up being a controversial topic. I don't think a game of this scope could run at 60fps without a hitch. There hasn't been a game with this scope on consoles and PC. Yes, its preferable that all games ran at 60 buttery smooth frames like Call Of Duty. But I don't think its posible with all genres of games. Aside from that, Starfield just looks like a game to be inmmersed for years. Just like Skyrim. Credit where its due. Bethesda is like almost the only developer to achieve that with their games.
@@dockgamer973 because all they know is 30 and they finally get a taste of 60 for a lil bit and they get big mad when they are forced to play 30 again. That’s the console life they chose.

Don't want to invest an expensive gaming computer just to play thus one game. I loved elder scrolls now but don't play much videogames anymore. Still, I'm hyped for this game so I was thinking if buying an Xbox would be enough to play this game decently.
The amount of passion I can feel from ppl talking about their game has already seeped into my bloodstream - I'm in full on "Let's have an adventure" mood. I just hope that levelling is DEEP. If there's 1000 planets out there, I don't want to get max everything and best EQ/ship/crew after 100 planets.
I’m really hyped for this game. I can’t tell if it’s going to be good or bad but it seems like they put alot of effort into this and they seem proud especially showing a lot of the game in that showcase they just seemed to proud of it. I have high hopes for this game and I can’t wait to play it.

I totally agree with matty, this game is going to be “The Greatest Game Of Al Time”, like literally that’s a game a person would dream of, like you can literally become famous, have a cool house, live on any planet, visit family, have your own space ship, do drugs, become evil, be a good person, build your own business, generate ur own electricity, smuggle stuff, have guns, modify your guns, 1000 plus planets, like you can literally attack ships and steal it, andrddd you can have a gf. This game gonna smoke gta, imagine in the feature they get an online version
It looks so amazing I honestly can't believe they are delivering a game like this. If it really comes out and performs well with this level of complexity to it, I'm hooked!
I love the passion in this video! I'm a PS guy, but I watch Matty (The only Xbox focused Channel I follow), and its great to see how joyful he is with Starfield. The game looks great and I hope to pick it up on Steam. As gamers we all know that feeling when a game announcement, or trailer or playthrough really hits us in the heart and changes a part of us in some small way.
I'm hoping for some cute little Oblivion-esque sidequests, I've been playing some more Oblivion lately and I love some of the simpler stories told through the sidequests, it's neat.
Will it be a buggy, unfinished mess, even with the delays? Will Bethesda lock a bunch of stuff behind micro-transactions and seasonal passes? Will they eliminate support for modding the game? These are still pretty valid questions. I'm as much a fan of their single player open world games as anyone, but we've seen the greed and disregard for their customers.

And yeah I hope so too haha, NMS has so many vehicles!
Every time they’ve ever showed a game it’s never looked janky, it’s when they release we realise that it’s a buggy broken mess
A lot of people may not realize that this feature is in a good handful of other spaceflight/combat games, like Elite Dangerous, if I'm not mistaken.
Star Wars Squadron also has this feature, it definitely spices up space combat quite a bit.

Cyberpunk made Bethesda up their game.

They really improved the gunplay from that first trailer we saw....it is looking really good. I was blown away.

They needed this to be a hit after 76. That’s prob why they delayed it as much as they did.
I really think that they meant procedurally place the hand made areas, so it would fit the terrain, so your bandit base will be in a different place than your friends. That forces you to explore the planet every playthrough, instead of going stright to the objective.
Yeah, that's what I understood.
You can’t explore a planet, it’s like 10000 times the size of the Skyrim map
Not forced, encouraged. If exploration isn't your fascination, you have that option.

Every elder scrolls or fallout game has been procedural. And the tech has been getting better with each game, but I get what you mean, on such a large scale it would be easy for them to miss glitches with the procedural system. Well reasoned and insightful content, as usual. Keep it on, Matty. You're the best source of Bethesda news and commentary online.
Maybe I'm expecting too much RPG from BGS as they've always leaned more towards the adventure/exploration side of things and been a bit lighter on RPG elements but hopefully we see a game world that is more dynamic and believable than ever before
I had my hesitations, man… but this Starfield Direct BLEW ME AWAYYYY… I am so beyond excited now. ❤️😭

I can’t wait to play this game I don’t care if this game is 60 frames per second or 30. if the game is great, and I’m having fun, that’s all that matters to me I could care less about the frames or the graphics. If I want that I’ll go play on PC. the cold steel one music 🔥🔥🔥
For Bethesda games the only way is PC.
The world looks cool, but it’s gonna come down to the writing and characters for me. Bethesda’s games are always big and fun to run around in, but I want quests and characters that I actually care about and that keep me interested in playing through the entire story for once.
Yeah that’s my biggest worry is having a big space to explore and it feeling empty.

I have never wanted “extras” with any game. But that watch with Starfield, I need. It looks incredible. Give it to me NOW!! So hyped now.
Just imagine how great the sidequests will be if they put that much detail into the game!
Yeah ... Hey General this settlement needs your help !!!
@@Ticonderous1 I swear to god lol
I'm hoping for some cute little Oblivion-esque sidequests, I've been playing some more Oblivion lately and I love some of the simpler stories told through the sidequests, it's neat.
1000 times the details !
I had grown man tears too Matty, i was excited for the direct but holy shit, I was not expecting this beauty. Jaw was on the floor!
This is going to be a LONG 3 months 😢 Can't wait to make a mercenary fleet in space.
It looked so good! The Character updates, excellent!! It is so, so vast!
Been super excited for this! Also that Person 5 Royal song in the background is a nice touch.
This legit looks like it could be the best game ever! It’s the most ambitious game! I’m blown away!
