the drake thing has a double meaning, because Nathan Drake is the protagonist of Uncharted, a videogame also inspired in Indiana Jones that became more popular than Tomb Raider. He also plays with the uncharted territories reference.

He knew that. It was so blatant that it didn't need to be addressed.
According to the behind the scenes, Nathan Drake was supposed to make a cameo with a few lines after those Uncharted bars and get killed by the rolling boulder, but they couldn't make it fit in the flow of the battle.

(which made me think he might have not remembered that Drake is not just the rapper but also the name of the protagonist)

2:36 I believe this is a reference to an episode in the Big Bang Theory when Raiders Of The Lost Ark was a big plot point in the episode, throughout the episode they essentially picked apart the plot of the movie piece by piece resulting in the realization that the entire plot of the movie would be the same regardless of if you were to remove Indiana Jones from the story completely. The craziest part is that rewatching the movie, it’s an 100% accurate criticism.
Maybe…but Indiana Jones’ constant meddling forces the villains to change their plans. He blows up their plane resulting in a truck chase. By Marion’s bar being destroyed, she comes with him on the adventure and therefore is a weakness to Belloq throughout the movie. Indiana Jones’ constant opposition annoys the villains resulting in Belloq and company deciding to open the ark early. This results in them dying. And because Indiana Jones is a witness he is able to survive, tell the tale, and recover the ark for America. If he wasn’t there it would’ve been lost to time.
The ideas behind the common criticism of Indiana Jones' role in the film's story are all based on the hypothetical events that would occur if Indy wasn’t present. In this case it is flawed. Even still we can make inferences using this kind of logic such as Toht killing Marion to get the medallion because Jones wasn’t there to save her. We don’t really know what would happen, but the point is that his constant interventions cause the villains to change plans and lead to the pivotal ark opening.
@@thebutterstick8659 look man, watching the movie with that criticism in mind I came to the conclusion that I agree with the criticism… and I regret that I did that because it ruined one of my favorite movies for me. I’m not gonna argue this because at the end of the day, I would’ve been better off not knowing the criticism and I don’t want to go through all the effort of an argument just to ruin the movie for someone else.
If ya like Raiders, go ahead. Don’t think about this criticism. I made that mistake and now I don’t even enjoy the movie anymore.

@Jared Jams the fourth one is like fine. There are a few speed bumps along the way but I think the movie is mostly decent until Indiana Jones and Mutt get captured by the Russians and then it sorta goes downhill. It does feel like they really tried to make something good though. A real attempt at a special movie. In some ways it succeeds, there are just some bad ideas cobbled in there. Overall it’s fine, but 1-3 are a lot more polished and consistent.

They even slipped in a subtle reference from the end of the last crusade where his father said that “we named the dog Indiana” in response to jones saying he preferred to be called indiana rather than “junior”

Quick note on the Big Bang Theory line. there was an episode about basically saying that Raiders of the Lost Ark's plot made no sense when you really think about it and Sheldon basically has a mental breakdown
Not that it made no sense, but the movies would have been the same if Indiana wasn't in them. The Nazis still would have found the ark, and been killed. His presence did nothing for the story

The father bar was good but also a hit to herself as well. In one of the games she never even knew her dad or her mom at all. In the reboot she saves her dad which never suppose to happen at all. I remember in one game not sure if it was the first one. You are training and it is the butler who is teaching you how to do thing's at the manor while she states she doesn't know her parents.

The bar that goes "from bandicoots to your families plane in ashes" I think references the Crash Bandicoot games coming out the same years as the Tomb Raider games and out selling them on both occasions.

If I recall correctly there was a level called "Tomb Wader" in Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped and was suppose to be a parody/tribute to Tomb Raider
The (J) in the floor reference is from the movie The Search for the Holy Grail. Where he had to spell out the name, Jehovah, but not in English, but ancient Jewish. That’s why everybody died because they would step on the (J) For Jehovah, and fall through the floor.

This is a very great reaction, absolutely fantastic. They both have brutal disses. I love how they introduce Indiana Jones in the beginning of the rap battle, That was pretty fire as well. I don't know if you seen the teaser in the end for the next rap battle but they will have Godzilla in a battle and I believe I hear rumors of the rap battle being Animated like a very realistic video game. I heard they were doing Unreal Engine for that battle which I believe is also used in a lot of today's video games that releases but overall you did an absolute fantastic reaction. Keep up the great work, man. You earned it.

The Big Bang thing refers to the sitcom pointing out that Raiders didn't even need Indiana Jones to be there. Had the Germans found the Ark, they would have opened it and died anyway, with or without Indy's interference.

If I’m guessing right, the sitcom line refers to Indiana hiding in a home with a nuclear family, which was quite common in the 1950s and would make sense for Crystal Skull since it’s set in 1957.

The Tomb Raider reboot isn't that bad. You just have to remember that the Jolie films had the same feel as the OG games. While the reboot has the feel of the newer Tomb Raider trilogy.

I actually had to do some research for this. There's a clip where one of the characters in The Big Bang Theory ruins the Raiders Of The Lost Ark for Sheldon by pointing out that Indy himself has no relevance to what happens. The Nazis would have found the medallion and gotten killed anyways.

In the off chance anyone missed the line here:
"Whole story got blown up on a sitcom" is also a Big Bang theory bar. In one episode, a character (Amy) makes a point that even without Indiana Jones, the story in Raiders still would've happened the same way. The Nazis would still find the ark and die horribly, thus "ruining" or blowing up the whole story.

The Square Enix didn't want you anymore line is actually in reference to the fact Square Enix sold off the Tomb Raider franchise to Embracer Group along with some other Western IP's FOR CHEAP.
About Square Enix bar. They were owners of Tomb Raider's creators but the reboot in their eyes did not sell so well so they sold the entire studio with TB franchise to Embracer Group for like 300 mil $
This is going to sound so bad but I didn’t know there was a reboot planned with Angelina Jolie, so I thought the line “I’ll leave you like your reboot - flattened” was a dig at how Lara Croft went from being played by Angelina Jolie to Alicia Vikander who doesn’t have much in the terms of tangible body assets. I feel quite bad and stupid that is what at first I thought the line meant lol.
It most likely is. He did reference movies a lot - I never knew they made more than one Tomb Raider movie so a bit of that flew over my head. I just assumed she had lost a few cup sizes in the newer games.
That is what the line meant. It could conceivably refer to the movies, but it's more likely to refer to the video game reboot.
It also refers to the post-2013 games where Lara's body proportions are much more realistic.

The sitcom was, I think "The Young Indiana Jones" in the early 90's. Showed Indy growing up after volunteering for World War One and into the interwar period. Was actually pretty good.
