  • At an early age we begin pushing our creative development through play, exploration, and positive reinforcement. But, can adults push their creative development to bring their work to a new level? I say, "heck yes!"
Whether we are amateurs beginning our creative journey or seasoned artists who have been at it for decades, without nudging our creative development even just a little bit, we will be caught in a repetitive cycle of creating the same work, over and over, without every breaking out.
By introducing a single change in the way we work, the tools we use, or the environment we work in, we can alter the course of our creative development by leaps and bounds.
ALSO in this video, I share my Inktober 2021 Wrap Up with you, and how I chose to push my own creative development to create a unique set of characters during the challenge and for 31 days get to intimately know them to finish with a cohesive body of work that I'm pleased with.

I love the Edward Gorey style art and the continuing theme for each design. So impressed you don't even look at the prompt word until the day of the prompt, then come up with a creative, detailed design and ink it... 31 days in a row! I guess you don't sleep during October, LOL. I tried Inktober for several years but found the process too stressful and wasn't happy with the quality of my work.

I love this and I love your characters. There was one year out of the four that I participated in Inktober that I didn't have a theme, and my drawings for that year are all very uninspired. I find having a theme keeps me excited and motivated to work on the next drawing, and the next, and so on. I like the idea of creating a printed book each year. I'm making this year's Inktober drawings into a coloring book. It's a lot of work, but I'm really looking forward to the finished product. Thanks, Mark, for another great video with a useful message. I always look forward to hearing what you're going to say.

Really enjoyed the narrative that developed with the characters- like the neighbours of the Adams family lol. This was my first year of Inktober and I enjoyed it mostly, but next year I'm going to set some ground rules to make it more enjoyable.

So, what's up with the blindfolded/ball-gagged character?
Kind of stood out to me in an overall innocent-looking (obviously slightly dark) concept.
You know, barring the cannibalism, kidnapping and child-neglect being depicted, lol.

@@MDCampbell thank you for your reply. There are many very popular coloring books and coloring pages for sale. The most popular and famous artists I know are Johanna Basford and Kerby Rosanes. There are so many artists whose books cover a variety of styles. My favorites are: (1) ‘The Ink House’ by Rory Dobner; (2) R. J. Hampson has a number of coloring books; (3) ‘Busy World’ by Colin Thompson which currently I can only find in magazine form from Colouring Heaven (purveyors of coloring magazines from the UK which are shipped around the world); (4) Zoe Sadler has coloring pages for sale on Etsy. I hope a book of your line drawings is a viable option. All the best, Shadow. EDIT after I posted this comment I realized you might already know of the artists I mentioned.
