      We play a game called Mustangs & Messershmitts that uses 1/72 scale aircraft
      Currently we are working on no. 315 squadron RAF.. they escorted the mosquitoes on the Arhaus raid in October 1944.. your videos are very inspirational and we will be building at least six mosquitoes for the raid after we get our Mustangs done, of course 😉
      There is some videos of the game on my channel. Enjoy.

    I have seen two different versions of how the crew was seated in this aircraft. Sometime it shows them seared side by side, and sometime it shows them seated off set. Which is right?

    • @cmdrfurai9939
      @cmdrfurai9939  2 года назад

      As far as I know, the right hand seat was always offset slightly rearward of the left hand pilots seat, initially to allow enough space for the bombardier to be able to crawl forward into the nose for bomb aiming, as the Mossie was originally designed as an unarmed fast bomber. I think the offset design was retained on later variants to save the time and cost of modifying the existing design. Some later training variants have dual flight controls and the right seat was moved forward to allow an instructor to reach the dual rudder pedals/stick, but the vast majority of Mossies had the offset right seat.

      Not at sea level, and especially not with a high fuel load to get to Belgium and back. Plus these are 109K’s, the ‘ultimate’ version, so they are very quick, basically as quick and a bit quicker than the much older (1941) mossie.

    • @cmdrfurai9939
      @cmdrfurai9939  2 года назад

      @@paulbavington7498 that’s cool that your uncle flew one. A mossie could definitely outrun a contemporary 109 (E and F models) but not a late war K model. The FBVI had a reinforced wing to facilitate drop tanks and underwing bombs so was heavier than the bomber and NF variants. Also the myth that two kills were awarded for a Mossie is just that. It’s believed the Germans had a form of points scoring based on the aircraft shot down, but a kill was still a kill. More likely the points system was twisted to aid British propaganda.

    • @cmdrfurai9939
      @cmdrfurai9939  2 года назад +1

      IRL RAF pilots wore them all the time as they contained the microphone for communication, and also if you do need to climb above 10,000 feet then you don’t want to be fiddling with a mask in a cold, noisy, cramped environment. In this mission we were at 12,000 feet before the attack, so the masks would’ve been used. And again, the pilots wouldn’t be fiddling to get their mask off during combat. Also the mossie pilot model in DCS always has it on, you can’t change it in game. So not silly really.
