  • Ephesians 6:11-18 provides a powerful description of spiritual warfare and the armor of God that believers are called to put on in order to stand firm against the schemes of the enemy. Here is the passage:
"Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people."
This passage is a call to spiritual preparedness and vigilance. It reminds believers that they are engaged in a spiritual battle against the forces of darkness, and that they must be equipped with the armor of God in order to withstand the attacks of the enemy.
Each piece of the armor of God-truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the word of God-represents a vital aspect of spiritual protection and strength. By putting on this armor, believers are empowered to stand firm in their faith and resist the schemes of the devil.
Additionally, prayer is emphasized as a crucial weapon in spiritual warfare. Believers are encouraged to pray at all times, in all circumstances, and for all people. Prayer allows believers to stay connected to God, to seek His guidance and protection, and to intercede for one another in the midst of spiritual battles.
Overall, Ephesians 6:11-18 serves as a powerful exhortation for believers to be spiritually prepared, equipped, and vigilant in the face of spiritual warfare, trusting in the strength and protection that comes from God alone.
