its funny, i always go on quests looking for new celtic and viking metal bands that i have never heard, and no matter how far i go, i always end up being led back here.
You prolly dont give a shit but if you are bored like me atm you can watch pretty much all the latest series on Instaflixxer. I've been watching with my gf during the lockdown =)
To be fair, Ensiferum, especially back in those days when From Afar (and the albums preceeding it) came out, was a top-tier Folk Metal band. So it's totally understandable for you to end up coming back to this song.
I'm so sad. If you hear the song you could think there is a great mythology behind all this. I would love to read about all the brothers. Especially the protector of the sun sounds like a god from a RPG i play. But I can't find anything about it. They should make an entire album about them. That would be so awesome.
@TheScythemaster ah ok, now i get your point. i still think their main genre is viking metal since most of their songs have those folk influences which melo-death doesn't have usually
@TheScythemaster now it's fine, when you say it's your personal opinion that power metal sucks, i think it's the best subgenre of metal, but that's just me :) but viking metal still isn't a subgenre of black metal. ensiferum clearly is viking metal and really has nothing to do with black metal. but if you say ensiferum isn't viking metal, which they are, then what is viking metal for you?
@TheScythemaster viking metal isn't a subgenre of black metal, it's roots are said to be in black metal, but it actually is much closer to melo-death than to black metal. and ensiferum clearly are viking metal, in fact they are the GODS of viking metal. and you're wrong with another point; power metal is fucking great. you mustn't say it sucks just because you don't know any good bands of that genre
@TheScythemaster ok, i don't understand you. first you said they were melo-death, then they were viking metal and now they're melo-death again? what do you mean by extreme genre?
My favorite Ensiferum song hands down. So melodic and just, perfect. The solo is probably their best as well.

..."all life slowly withers away
and the infinite circle begins again." :D
A very paganistic view. Quite fitting for a Folk Metal band such as this.
@TheScythemaster I would say, this is viking metal.
XD point taken,
@TheScythemaster didn't you just reply to another guy who claimed they were power metal and told him they were melo-death?
