A month ago I adopted a Maltese just like this one from our local shelter. His hair was so matted he too had to be shaved. My little dog is missing his left ear. It appears to have been cut off some time ago. The shelter had named him "Lefty" and that's what I call him too. I got him groomed and his personality has blossomed. He is so sweet and loving! I don't understand how people can be so heartless to such innocent creatures. I believe in Karma...they will get their just eventually.

This dog almost came home with us, but we have a dog who was also rescued and had a very bad life while he was on the street and doesn't like other dogs, we live in an apartment and have twins who are almost 2 years old, I knew I couldn't I take him home.
I just adopted a Maltipoo! His elderly owner had passed, and he was put in a shelter. My vet saw him, and thought about keeping him, and then remembered I had mentioned to her I was looking for an older dog, and she wrote an email asking if I was interested in Tobey. Heard his story of no family taking Tobey after the owner passed…alone in a cage at the shelter. I took him the minute he was brought to me! The sad, but beautiful part of the story is the reason I was looking for an older dog….my Bichon was diagnosed with a stage 4 heart problem, and wasn’t expected to live. He managed to live a happy life for 8 months after the diagnosis. After I bought Tobey, my Punkin seemed to just get quieter, and tired. Two weeks after Tobey arrived Punkin suddenly couldn’t walk…I put him next to me….he took about six deep breaths and became quiet…I picked him up ready to take him to emergency vet to be put down. I made it to the garage when suddenly he went limp in my arms, and peacefully passed. I was so relieved I didn’t have to take him to the vet as it would have scared him during his last moments. For me I believe Punkin knew he could leave me now since a little Maltipoo had come to stay! Tobey was supposed to come when he did….God knew He would be taking Punkin home! Seeing this Maltese made me see the other side of my poodle! The silky ears…tail….thank you for allowing me to share! 😊
Yes she is good, some groomers stress the dogs by taking so long, are rough handling. These dogs need to rest from the stress of this whole procedure which is not only tiring but frightening for them. Soft & slow should be the motto. It doesn't have to be done all in one day.

I groom puppies/dogs scared and in awful conditions and I just think how could someone ever do this... Breaks my heart but I just show them as much love as I can even if it's just hour or 2!

How anyone can do this,,,these dogs are so Loveable and Smart, they make Great Pets, and I cannot stand any dog or animal being abused, I would take this Baby in a heart beat!! they are very sensitive dogs, and so easy to raise. I hope this little one is ok, after this hair cut. ( he is so scared) but I'm sure he needs some meds. food and a warm blanket. and and someone who will adopt him, and give Him so much Loving!!! I found one on my front porch when I opened the door, matted and full of sand spurs. My dog at the time did not like other dogs because his background so my mother took her while I looked for owners after a trip to the groomer. After many weeks and no owner I started looking for a home but my neighbor told me one of neighbors had lost their dog. It was theirs and had been left in the backyard for who knows how long to get in that condition. They paid for the cost of the groomer and food. I kept an eye on them after that checking her condition whenever I saw them walking her, she was never in that shape again, thank goodness
So handsome and sweet. He would be a definite cuddle bug for someone. A dog that you would want to keep in your pocket if you could! He has such sad wary eyes. He needs lots of human company from a gentle person like yourself. He knew you would help him. He loved the scrub in the bath , his skin is probably itchy and the warm water, soap and scrub would feel great. Thank you for sharing him with us. Hope he finds a fabulous new owner soon.
We also hope that he will find an owner who will give him a lot of love as soon as possible, and until then the dog is placed in a boarding house for dogs.

After I got him home, shaved down and cleaned up he was a beautiful little boy inside and out. I really believe they know when they have been rescued and they are grateful. He is so sweet and loving.
10 yrs ago I adopted a Maltese an approximately 8 yr old puppy mill dog. She had never touched grass, only concrete. Her hair was extremely thin & matted, she was underweight, missing several teeth and had gum disease. The first time she saw me she came running straight for me. She became my little shadow. She was such a good little girl. she never was thrilled about grass & would only pee on concrete. With loads of love & attention she relaxed & played like a puppy. Its been 1 yr and I miss her terribly. ❤❤❤❤😢 I’d take this sweetie in a heartbeat!
Norma here. We rescued a stray Maltese 6 years ago. He had an ear infection and some hot spots on his skin. The rescue had already given him veterinary care and tried their best to groom him before we got him. He is the sweetest most loving little guy. This little one seemed so calm even though he was super scared. Poor baby. I’m surprised that with all the matting and long hair on his body that his face actually looked clean and shaven. I hope he found a loving home.

I got my all white Morkie (Maltese/Yorkie) from a shelter. She was 1 pound and 8 weeks old when they received her. Detectives found her in a muddy post hole after a drug bust in the main house. She was covered with fleas. Her lips were blue from the blood lost!! They thought she might die. She is now 7 years old and very healthy! She so sweet, fluffy white and totally adorable. She is my Velcro fur baby. 😊💗💗💗

That was so sad for him to be put in the trash he was already uncomfortable situation matted so bad and no way to get food or water just left to be unhappy or die out there 😢 😞 we are glad someone found him he just a young innocent puppy who ever found him God bless you so much for ❤️ he will be happy again and much better with people that really care for him the right way
This groomer is really great ,going slowly so not to scare him ,he is alelready confused but so calm and sweet !

I got my all white Morkie (Maltese/Yorkie) from a shelter. She was 1 pound and 8 weeks old when they received her. Detectives found her in a muddy post hole after a drug bust in the main house.
She was covered with fleas. Her lips were blue from the blood lost!! They thought she might die. She is now 7 years old and very healthy! She so sweet, fluffy white and totally adorable.

I love Maltese, They are so sweet and very precious. They look like a skinny chicken when they are wet. When they are dry they look twice their size, Lol. They are so lovable and quite irresistible.
