Hi 👋 Kay and Dan from Wisconsin USA 🇺🇸 here! Kay, I was so happy to hear of your easy Butterfly 🦋 Heel on Your Lattice Socks pattern-I immediately paused the video and went over to Ravelry and purchased the pattern and watched the video that You attached to the pattern-genius! I ha 1:31:23 ve made 4 pairs of socks 🧦 but that was years ago and I was intimidated to try again because I had problems when it came to the heels! Not any more. I was hoping that You can suggest one of your toe up patterns that would have an easy heel and stretchy bind off if You have one- All of Your Socks are Beautiful! Thank You and Dan for everything that You Share!❤🎉❤😊
On holiday in Bournemouth in the 70's we went to the cinema to see the Bond film that started with the. Union Jack parachute scene, and the entire audience stood up cheering. It was fab!
Absolutely love England, a Castle Nation. I've gone back and watched the segments again all in a row but I'd love an easy way to see just the segments together - even if it were just those parts of the shows separated out and put together in a youtube playlist- doesn't have to be all fancy in 1 new show with fade in/outs, etc. Hope you will consider doing that kind of thing with all of these segments (Walking the Moors, etc., from past years.) They are terrific to watch!
Hi Linda, we have done exactly that. Along with additional reading, longer edits and more. You can find all the shows you referenced and more here bakerybears.com/adventures/ you do need to be a patron to watch ALL these. Some are available free. Best wishes, Dan
We recently went to see the Chicago Symphony Orchestra play several songs from the James Bond films. It was so fun hearing so many of the songs. And I absolutely love Sean Connery and Daniel Craig as Bond.
Awww loved the video podcast as always! My daughter and I are enjoying the summer of Robert de Niro and Al Pacino. Is there anything better than introducing our kids to awe-inspiring movies and actors for the first time?!?!
❤❤love ur podcasts🎉🎉🎉 Great finish Dan,,, Socks heavy ,,,Yes!!!!love 🧦😘😘 The ones you made with fairground socks with minis!!!🎉🎉 Love them so much ,,,,love the pattern fairground socks so much and the newest one is so addicting ,,,,love my almost 3 pairs of scrappy quilt socks,,,, Elaine 🎉🎉 My mum used to make pineapple upside down cake with custard,,,,😮
I SO agree - the 80s was THE best decade ...nostalgia for RaRa skirts, legwarmers, electric blue mascara, thick kohl eyeliner, shimmer lippy, stilletos or clompy shoes, phoning people on the home telephone, sending handwritten letters to a pen pal etc etc... plus all the amazing music - great YT channel you two and luv the history parts
On the POP show you mentioned the books you have read whilst researching the Castle Nation series, so I went ahead and read them too. Absolutely fascinating! Thank you so much for sharing. Thoroughly enjoyed it and appreciated the opportunity to understand where the inspiration came from. But now I'm wondering, where next do we go? Intregued 🤗
i love the cake also i made one just a couple of months ago but used oranges instead of pineapple but we love pineapple and we eat it on everything or by itself thanks for sharing
I would love to watch you frame the cross stitch piece. I have several from years ago , some made by my mother that I would like to frame and am not sure how to do it.
Kay, I must disagree, the sixties were the best decade. I am very glad my teenage years were in the sixties. We had so much fun. Mini skirts, bell bottom pants, sit ins and Beatlemania.
Life is too short to knit a yarn you aren't enjoying. You can destash the opal that you don't like the look of. I haven't knitted with the john arbon exmoor sock, but I have spun the fibre base and the finished yarn does feel like it'll be hard-wearing lol 😅
Big James Bond fan here. First, I bought the collection as VHS. Then, onto DVD blu ray. Occasionally, they come up on streaming packages we have. At least once a year, we have a Bond Marathon. Grew up with Roger Moore, switched to Connery as my fave until Daniel Craig. Favorite line ever was during the first beach scene of On Her Magesty's Secret Service with George Lazenby. You'll know it when you hear it. Favorite action scene is the opening parkoor run with Daniel Craig and the drywall. My uncle gave me his set of Bond books. Not first edition but an interesting read. Read Dr. No on the beach in Jamaica 😊. Yes, Castle Nation is THE BEST from your research, recording, through to the music. Love watching it.
I’ve never had pineapple upside down cake with a custard topping. We always had it with whipped cream topping, but the custard looks pretty delicious, too.
The opal socks are in my view very true to the painting by Hunterwasser - the title contains a reference to rain and the red blobs are raindrops. You may wish to look up the painting to give it some context and therefore add to your enjoyment while knitting them.
Hi there! Kay, I really want to knit your shorty Fairground socks. I've selected 3 20-gm skeins of yarn from my stash. Where can I find the instructions for making the shorty socks? I know how many rows in the cuff, I know how many stitches you used, but I don't know how many rows you used for the stripes. thx!!
Could you maybe disguise those ‘blobby bits’ by alternating rounds with a second ball of yarn 🧶 I’ve done this to make use of yarns I don’t love and sometimes the results can be surprisingly lovely 💜
England, A Castle Nation is a great show! We know how accurate you are too, Dan as we listen to dome if the top British history podcasts. I remember upside down pudding, we used to have it at school and it was good. But Kay, yours will be much better! Do you ever go to outdoor showings of movies? I remember going to a drive-in in Canada, back in the 1960's. But I haven't been to one here yet.
Casino Royale was released in 1967, Dr No was released in 1962. Like Never Say Never Again it’s not included in the official film chronology because it was made by a different production company eg not the Brocolli family. Thanks so much for your message! Dan
We watched all the Bond movies about a year ago. Good times. Nothing like a womanizing 'hero'. Ugh. Unpopular opinion I really dislike Sean Connery as Bond. Love him as an actor, but not Bond. But Sean Connery is in my favorite Alfred Hitchcock movie, Marnie.
Dan’s face when he tasted the cake and custard!! That’s the best! 😂
Absolutely enjoying every moment of your videos!
Yay! Thank you!
Dan, A Castle Nation is really really really GOOD historical tv. I am really enjoying it!
This is so crazy but are planning to watch all the Bond movies this summer as well.
Oh I absolutely love that yellow yarn in your socks, that is clever. I love James Bond, my favourite was Sean Connery, I am of that era though!
Have watched for about two years am binge watching from beginning watching the knitting around love them
I absolutely love your Fairground Socks! How CUTE?! I loved knitting the Beatrix Potter series socks. Really fun.
The Pineapple Upside down cake sounds Devine! Must bake this!! Yes those Opal Socks were out of character!

Your Lion’s socks remind me of the blue in the 80’s. Makes them retro 😉
On holiday in Bournemouth in the 70's we went to the cinema to see the Bond film that started with the. Union Jack parachute scene, and the entire audience stood up cheering. It was fab!
Your cake looks delicious! In the US we would call that a small cake and serve it with sweetened whipped cream.

Another great episode. I'm looking forward to your next Knitability Magazine and more of Summer of Stitching Anne 🦘
Ooh I love Somerset Yarns! Her Moana and Jellyfish colourways are some of my faves!

I believe the movie was “For your Eyes Only” where Carly Simon sings Nobody does it better
awww Arnel! What a great voice!
❤❤love ur podcasts🎉🎉🎉

Hello from Swansea, Illinois.
I think it was a vieuw to a kill ❤ it was my first James bond film , back in the eighties...
Love your podcast as always 😘🧶
Love the pineapple upside down cake. I still have my aunts round glass dish she used for making it
I would love to watch you frame the cross stitch piece. I have several from years ago , some made by my mother that I would like to frame and am not sure how to do it.
You sound exactly like Kay the Crazy Sock Lady with your wanting to knit all the socks and your eighties yarns! Summer sock knitting camp anyone?!
Interestingly, Ian Flemming describes James Bond as being 6ft in his books.
Kay, I must disagree, the sixties were the best decade. I am very glad my teenage years were in the sixties. We had so much fun. Mini skirts, bell bottom pants, sit ins and Beatlemania.
Pierce Bronson was in an American show called Remington Steel.
Yes, we put up details of that on screen as Dan was talking. He realised when editing he’d got the wrong show 💓

On Her Majesty's Secret Service with George Lazenby!❤😊
I have a sock pattern called ugly duckling socks that might be perfect for the blobby opal yarn.
I’ve never had pineapple upside down cake with a custard topping. We always had it with whipped cream topping, but the custard looks pretty delicious, too.

love our detroit lions!!!

The Opal socks look like someone spilled dye on the socks 😢
Funny, I was thinking of Pierce Bronson not being able to get out of his contract when he was shooting Mrs. Doubtfire
Kay, Dole pineapple comes in two kinds: in its own juice, or in heavy syrup (with sugar added). I couldn't tell, which do you use?
In juice, I haven’t seen the syrup kind here 💖
I thought casino royale with david niven was the first James Bond movie. We owned dvd's of the original ones.
Casino Royale was released in 1967, Dr No was released in 1962. Like Never Say Never Again it’s not included in the official film chronology because it was made by a different production company eg not the Brocolli family. Thanks so much for your message! Dan
Floridian here....what is single cream?
NOPE! THE 70’S were way cooler than the 80’s!
Tom Cruise - what a P.........
