I love ….love her honest conversation and authenticity. When choosing yogurt as a starter, it doesn’t matter what type of yogurt it is so long as it has high live culture content and doesn’t have any additives. Some generic and cheap yogurt labels use corn starch or other type of additives to thicken the yogurt. If you use those, your yogurt will not have good consistency and will be slimy

100%. It is like when I try to use ultra pasteurized milk to make certain products it just won't work. Authenticity is great but also, feeding yourself is more important!

That’s so great. I wasted so many batches until I got a thermometer. That’s so important! Also I had really good results if
I used whole milk Greek yogurt as starter. Just fyi for those are trying this out.

Making bolani's tonight and wanted to know what the dipping sauce recipe was. Unfortunately my Greek yogurt was expired so no sauce for us today. Found your recipes online with this video link for making your own yogurt and I'm very excited to try this soon! Thank you so much for sharing this and other recipes. I had neighbors move into our apartment building a few years ago and they introduced me to a several delicious things. My neighbors moved a year ago and we miss the bolani's and dipping sauces SO MUCH we decided to try to make them ourselves. After watching this video I think I'll even try to make my own yogurt for the dipping sauce so thank you😎🙏 very excited for this and the pumpkin dishes you have as well!

You are so welcome and thank you so much for this amazingly kind comment. I hope I've made the recipes easily replicable so you never have to worry about running out of yogurt ever again!

If someone have not made yogurt , they will be overwhelmed with so much steps in the video...and might not attempt it... I keep it very simple...been making great yogurt consistently every day with same starter yogurt for years.
Sep 1: heat up the milk for 10-15 min...but not boil...just when first bubbles start. Set aside milk to let temp go down a little
Step 2: Put half of the milk in a pot and mix 2 tbsp yogurt as starter. I check the temp with my pinky finger.. it should be hot but tolerable.
Step 3: Heat the remaining hald milk for one minute....and pour into the first batch.
STEP 3: cover and set it aside for 15 hrs...dont move the pot. You will have great yogurt ready everytime.

Greek yogurt as a starter??? Where did that come from?? Honestly, I have never seen that. Am afraid to try it. Will it be authentic???
Also, have you made Maaaast in the Instapot??? How did you like it???
    Keep up the good work

    • @AfghanCooks

The starter is just a tablespoon for the live culture. It won't affect taste at all. I have not made it in the instant pot. I'm afraid to try that!
