Thanks for sharing your sights with us Joe and company . .This is truly one of the best videos made of the Kalahari ..Such a privilege to be part of nature .
Hi Joe, I enjoyed your video. I love the wild life in Africa. I want to thank you for looking after these beautiful creatures. People that shot these beautiful creatures for a trophy, will have to answer for it one day.
Great to see the rainfall was plentiful in the Kgalagadi too this year. There was an abundance for all. One my favourite sights after a rainfall was the sight of cobras on the road for a few days afterwards.
Yes Well i have never seen so many rodents as this year and am not surprised the cobras (and all reptiles) are abundant yes. It is indeed a year of plenty.
And..thi's second time watching again..don't know why??? Feeling relaxed..ease...& comfort..while watching specially these part of green safari ... the sounds of birds, beasts and wind at background ...excellent indeed.. Thanks Joe for such fantastic master piece.
I am from England. I last visited Kgalagadi in February 2020 when the drought was severe. Great to see the transformation from arid desert to standing water and green vegetation. Let us hope we do not have to wait another 25yrs+ for it to happen again.
It is what it is. All the animals have adapted to the harsh conditions and actually prefer the arid habitat so if it rains like this all year we will not see this animals anymore. There are habitats for all kinds of nature . And with global warming presumably creeping up to us these animals will be the last to survive as they have adapted to survive without abundant surface water. So ya I prefer the desert to be desert.
Txs and yes it is a different world with the green environment. Its good to see the animals are fat and plenty but I love the red sand of the arid dry seasons.
I have been visiting since the 70's and have never seen it green. Always seem to time visits at the end of winter. This year was exceptional after the good rains. Thanks for the work you put into these excellent videos.
Thank you Joe. There should be more people like you in this world. When I look at these beautiful animals. My mind is at peace. I was lucky to have 16 spotted deers on my property , and an Ostrich. Now I have 1 Emu and 14 sheep. I am from Australia Perth. I am enjoying your video. God Bless you.
Morkel yes I must agree with the level of green, however the thickness of the growth and the variety of plants is on a different level now and certainly. Just returned yesterday again and the gemsbok komkommer and tsammas are also more that I have seen in decades
Such a natures wonder is the Kgalagadi and so beautifully filmed and photographed. May it be protected always, with tourist cameras' and not guns', for the generations to come and learn about, marvel and also consider careers in wildlife conservation. Thank you so very much from a bleak day in Scotland.
This is a wonderful video of Kalahari & Kalagadi. Thank you Hardus & Joe it’s such a blessing to see this so green. I watch Wild Earth & they also show Tswalu, which is a green oasis & still getting rain! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Stay safe. Love from Alberton

Hi Joe I just found your channel and you have a new subscriber :) I had my first experience with the African Bush last march when I took my son to Kruger. on a self drive. Im so addicted now its become an obsession. I can't wait to return in 2023. The agonizing part is trying to sort out where to go next !!! Have been researching Masai Mara and Serengeti, but then South Africa and Botswana seem to have so much more to offer too !!! Its going to drive me nuts AHHHHH haha. Keep up the great work.

Hi Elena. Thanks for watching. Yes the flowers are our at end of January already if there were rains towards end of December and beginning of January but at the best around February
Hi Joe altyd goed om oor en oor na jou videos te kyk. Hoop jy onthou my nog. Het altyd by jou restaurant in Kleinmond geeet . Lekker seekos en groot glase wyn. Ek het in Bettysbaai gebly.
We hope to travel to the Kgalagadi in September, in your opinion Joe, with the region having had so much rain., what will be the effect on sightings by this time ? Compared to the usual dry dusty desert ?
Hi Andrew, by then the green will be long gone but there will be a lot of dry grass that could make spotting a little bit more difficult than with a green backdrop as animals here are mostly camouflaged for dry conditions. October November is my favorite time with end January but I basically don’t consider the season although to me the kalahari at its driest and harshest is the best photographically. So theres no reason that it should be worst than during the lush green in Jan, Feb and March. The natural water holes would be dried up so the manmade holes would be visited more than during the rainy season when animals drink everywhere in the veld from rain water. So sept is pretty much Kalahari landscape again and with all the lambs there would be plenty of food around for predators. In short no reason not to be exited about your trip it can in essence be very good. I can do a whole write up for you but it would be pretty dry again as the rain water evaporate at the speed of light in the kalahari. So you can get the same action as any other time . Animals must eat and predators must eat. The predator prey interaction cycle carries on. The resident animals will be much more due to the good population growth. So best of luck and keep me informed. Stay in touch may e we can catchup if Im there.
Cant tell. My colleague used hired equipment for the shoot. We have a range that we hire different for each trip as a test of equipment as well. I think it was Nikons camera with Tamron 300 2.8
..or pale chanting goshawks but the chanting sounds more like the gabars. What do you think. I always have to toss between the two at this juvenile stage of their lives.
Jeanette thank you for watching This is just a fun report back on game drives and is meant to have voice or human interaction. It is not a wildlife film. You can watch “This is the kalahari” film first up on the page. You cant please them all and after close to a million views you are the first to ask us to shut up. .. i always say Doing video productions is like the restaurant business that I am also in. You can cook the greatest meal there will be one that thinks his taste buds are the best thing since walking on the moon (not that this is the case with you) . We thus have to guide this carefully and then try and please most people although I am not a crowd pleaser I do what I love and those that associate must be inspired and those that dont must find something to their liking as it is impossible to please all. It must however be evaluated before one cook again ( or produce again) THIS VIDEO is going for 100000 views in a short time normally a indication that it is doing ok with our small niche in SA. But.. I will dedicate a video just to you at some stage and notify you as I do get your point. Just bear in mind we do a variety of genres within the kgalagadi. Some are wildlife films, some are plain report backs, some are photographic specific, some are competition related etc. Each requiring a different take. Sorry we couldn’t satisfy your taste buds this time. Please dont watch the April report back that will be uploaded on Saterday as it is my report back of how the environment changed from the lush green to the transitional phase and all the observations we made. Without voice I would not have had a production. I am workin on a new film that will have less voice (a followup to THIS IS THE KGALAGADI) . I think you will prefer this. All the best Joe

All natural and perfectly normal. It assists in digestion same as with almost all canines doing it from time to time.
