    And some people still have the balls to say that MJ faced no good defenders in his career. 90's basketball was a low scoring era because defense was a real deal back then. Now you have a lazy James Harden not defending at all and who ever is guarding him won't even put a hand on him and will just watch his ass dribble like an idiot while both teams fall asleep.

    Both teams were locked in their respective seeds. Ewing, MJ and Pip have been playing ball non-stop since October '91 (Olympics included). Every star including Starks was nursing injuries, yet, they all PLAYED! Check out this concept: Fans pay their hard-earned money to see the league's biggest superstars battle it out on NATIONAL TV, on the world's biggest stage, in the NBA's most heated rivalry at the time, and nobody is resting! lol. It made it even better that they met again in the playoffs. Incredible.

      blade brown - and back then, you had a couple of back to back games in the playoffs. It was different and more difficult. I remember playoff games where MJ was just burned out and fatigued and played poorly for his lofty standards because he played the night before. Of course, he would come out like fire in the next game with a few days rest.
      Today's commercialized game is much easier for these guys.

    You saw Starks play like this and it made you feel you could do better at something. Jordan gets the best of Starks and the Knicks but the fact that a guy with mostly heart could take him on and do well every once in a while made you believe we all have it in us to be greater at something.

    • @Patawon
      @Patawon 5 лет назад +6

      Have it now he had a lot of heart but he was a very good player as well... very athletic, knockdown shooter, good defender, solid size for a combo guard at 6’3(especially in that era)... it wasn’t mostly heart... he was far from a bum

  • @coachcarter8238

    I'll give John Starks a ton of credit. He really played Jordan tough in those games. He gets his finger dislocated, runs to the team trainer, gets it popped back into place, and returns and finishes the game. If LeQueen James had gotten his finger dislocated, he would've whined and left the floor.

    Damn, I forgot Starks was a pretty good defender on top of his offensive game. He even blocked Jordan several times and stole a lot of good passes from opposing teams and whatnot. I guess I'm used to idiot know it alls who think they know everything about basketball telling me he sucks just cuz they dwell upon the one game he choked. Yet they don't think about any of the other games he basically carried the Knicks though. Even more and better than Ewing who no one seems to say anything bad about. Also I realized that Jordan even fucked up on the court at times. I have been so used to saying his game was so perfect and hearing everyone else and their mommas say it too, I forget he's also human. A still live otherworldly human, but he's still just human like the rest of us. Starks will forever be my #1 favorite Knick of all time and I'm gonna honor that nigga as one of my top 5 favorite shooting guards of all time too. He deserves better than what the public says.

    Those were some great times back then, the Knicks at that time were my absolute favorite team (definitely not the post Dolan franchise) Starks was a ferocious defender even though a prime Rolondo Blackman was probably one of the best defendors of Jordan there was. Charles Smith was absolute booty, I don’t know why the Knicks didn’t work harder to retain X-Man. As much as I love Starks, once MJ did that lean in the post, you were pretty much finished.

      Cwm368 MJ shot 10-28 this game and in the playoffs against the Knicks that year he shot 40% for the series. WTF are u talking about "tough D never bothered him?"

      Steph Curry The G.O.A.T Legendary W. the Nigga MJ shot 40% when guarded by payton in the Bulls vs Sonic series. But of course his team bails him out

      m Khan EXCUSES like a typical MJ fan. During the 1996 finals he shot like 41% and the next year in the playoffs for a full series against the Heat, he shot 38% against tough defense, look www.basketball-reference.com/playoffs/1997-nba-eastern-conference-finals-heat-vs-bulls.html

      well did you see the game or even the highlights? Starks guards Jordan. Jordan rarely guards starks. I guess the bulls didnt want to tire out his airness by chasing Starks around screens all day long..

    Michaeljordan by lifting weights so much lost a step he became big way too big his arms or not as long as before and his speed was a little bit slower so most of those guys we're able to guard him a little bit much better because the weightlifting then he had to realize that he has to change his game to a post-op top of game there were no flashy dunks penetration dribbles and fancy moves it was more now of a mostly michaeljordan with slow-speed and kids like just Starks we're able to Garden much better because of that but he needed the muscles to withstand a little bit more the physicality of the game but at the same time he f***** up his game so much that he became a Slowpoke he still was a monster but guys like John Starks were able make a dent in his offense

    LOL Who the hell is John Starks? We have guys in this league today like Durant, Curry, Leonard, LeBron, Westbrook and John Wall.... yet Michael's biggest competition was some overrated scrub named John Starks who was barely 6'1, 180 pounds.
    I'd like to see Jordan try those same moves with Jimmy Butler or Kawhi guarding him. He'd get locked down 🔒🔒🔒

      Kevin Costner Wizards jordan was still schooling kobe, t-mac, Allen iverson, Vince carter, ray allen, Dirk, KG, and duncan all in their primes while he was a 40 year old man and was still having mulitple 40 to 50 point games. So it wouldn't matter.

    • @AbdulMeykal
      @AbdulMeykal 7 лет назад +3

      HE GOT GAME23 Yeah....he averaged 20 points a game with a 47 TS%....which is pretty bad.
      MJ was a high volume shooter on a bad team back in 2002. Stop overrating his abilities. Yeah, he was old but he was an objectively below-average player. Yet you bring it up like it's a positive.

    • @AbdulMeykal
      @AbdulMeykal 7 лет назад +1

      HE GOT GAME23 but yeah...if John Starks is able to do this to Michael, imagine what would happen if he faced Kawhi Leonard and John Wall? LOL it would be abuse.
      Starks doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as these guys.
      MJ was just ahead of his time, that's all.
