- Tentsmuir National Reserve is located near Leuchars in Fife and is about an hour n' half drive north of Edinburgh. It's known for its lovely forest walks & trails and is popular with walkers, cyclists and horse-riders. I visited earlier this year and thought it would still be nice to show you it :-)
Please note that there is a TOLL-BARRIER to enter the reserve - you will need two £1 COINS. At time of writing it does not take cards - so make sure you have some pound coins before you go or you're a bit stuck!
This is an incredibly beautiful coastline, well known for its amazing grassland, dunes and sandy beaches, which are always on the move. I was very impressed with the number of dragonflies and damselflies which were amazing. There's also the chance to see Red Squirrels and deer, but none were forthcoming on my visit. Hopefully next year I might be able to spend more time filming the wildlife.
As you can see from the video there are very good facilities. When I visited in the summer, there was a superb wee cafe/van and toilet facilities. For kids there's a really good playpark and I think it's possible to rent bikes in nearby Leuchars.
There are lots of really good trails to discover. In this video I took the 'Ice House Trail' which takes you across beautiful beaches, sand dunes and forest trails. It's about 4 miles long and will probably take you 2-3 hours depending on how many times you stop. It's rated as a 'moderate walk' and most people should manage fairly easily, as long as they are reasonable fit. Along the way you'll see some WWII Pillboxes and war fortifications, along with an ice-house that was used in the 1800's for keeping Salmon fresh before export.
Hope you enjoy the video and thanks so much for watching. Please remember to subscribe if you'd like to be notified of new videos and you can see more videos & articles on my website - www.adventures...
PS: don't worry, I went back to get my coffee cup :-)

Thanks so much for watching and hope you're all well and having a good weekend 🙂 Tentsmuir is one of my favourite places in Fife and the perfect place to escape and chill out for a while. The Ice House trail is really lovely and is a nice mix between beautiful beaches, sand dunes and lovely forest. Do visit if you can and I'm sure you'll love it - keep a keen eye out for Red Squirrels! Do you have any favourite nature reserves in Scotland you would recommend visiting?
Just refreshes your soul visiting places like that

Hope you have a wonderful Xmas & New Year and take good care of yourself. All the best, David :-)
What a beautiful special place. I wish I lived in Scotland where I could escape the crowds... Where I live in Kent, it is very difficult to find unspoilt nature that you can have all for yourself. Thank you for sharing these beautiful images and showing us that such dreamy places exist.
Hi Aurelie Jeanne, hope you're well and thanks so much for your really kind words about the video - it's much appreciated :-) I'm afraid my presenting skills aren't very good, but I hope to improve on that next year.
