He's so RIGHT about Gil Parris. Solid Jazz foundation with a modern (Rock, R&B. Blues) twist that, like Larry, makes you're mouth just drop open. Great Shout out from a Legend. (13 min).
Very insightful interview with one of my favorite guitarist Larry Coryell. Larry is the father of jazz/rock guitar. He picks hard like a rocker, bends notes like the best of the bluesmen, but, at the same time, plays very sophisticated and eloquent lines that are breathtaking. My favorite recordings include Duster with Gary Burton, Memphis Underground with Herbie Mann, Barefoot Boy, Live at the Village Gate, Spaces ( a fusion masterpiece), Offering (which highlights Larry as a composer), and Introducing the Eleventh House -- to name a few.
Here's the latest edition of The Pace Report featuring jazz guitar icon Larry Coryell featuring the legendary Lenny White on drums and Victor Bailey on bass live at The Iridium in New York City. Larry and I sit down and talk and reflect on the late Chico Hamilton as well as Paco de Luica and also the importance of guitarist Charlie Christian and Wes Montgomery. Enjoy!

Coryell said he liked the guitar player on Earl King's records. Was it not Earl King who played guitar?
