Chaga has been used for thousands of years in the Slavic regions (Russia, Siberia, Ukraine, etc.) and cultures of the northern circumboreal areas. Lots of folk wisdom on its uses and benefits and intense studies performed by a medical institute in Russia since the 1950's. Lots of research available on its medicinal properties. I find it a good substitute for coffee as I need to avoid caffeine. It has an earthy, vanilla-like taste. Some folks add sweetner of some type but I like it juast as it is. I get about 5-6 brewings usually (and if you are not off-grid, a slow cooker/crock pot works very well for this). Once it starts to get weaker and lose taste, I still use it to brew other herb teas, just to get all the goodness out of it. Also good when used as the liquid for cooking oatmeal. I know folks who use chaga tea as the base for soup and is especially good in a mushroom or beef soup. Thakns, Mr. James for collecting this chaga and for going through the efforts to make it available to us. I have been drinking chaga for a number of years and am excited to try the one you collected from a very clean remote area.

Ms. Brendel, Chauga is a healthy immune boosting mushroom. It mainly grows on Birch trees but it is found on other trees also. The taste is very mild, in my opinion. We do not drink it as a hot drink like Mr. James does in this video but as an iced tea/coffee. Both hot or cold is good. I do add a little sweetener but no creamer - just our preference. Chauga supposedly helps with many situations in the body including blood pressure, the heart, lungs and research is saying it helps fight cancer. My husband uses it for cancer and it has been very helpful. He's been using it for 1 1/2 years and so far only 1 tiny tumor that was non-cancerous has showed up.

Hi Shawn, So how is Chaga similar to coffee, does it have a caffeine kick or an energy boost of any kind to it? I am interested in it because of you drinking it. Great idea to package and sell it. I remembered months back you talking about it asking if anyone wanted any to let you know, but heard nothing from you when I answered on the video. Great to see that this is what you meant. I saw those blocks behind and you could make wood log storage shed with those short pieces of wood, using mud and straw mortar, why burn scalped blocks. I think you would have fun with that. Cali's hang out.
I've been waiting for this! Just placed my order and also ordered a black Twill Hat! I've never had Chaga so I'm really looking forward to this, Shawn! I've heard others pronounce it as "Chawga". Is this right? Or does it depend where on the planet you're from? The bag looks like it has a zip lock, so I'm assuming its okay to keep it stored in the bag in a cool dry place (squeezing the air out before sealing the bag)?? Or should I store it in an air tight sealed container in a cool dry place?? Have a great weekend, and the new homestead is coming along beautifully!!!
Hi James, I know another video channel in Canada that uses a wood burning stove to dry there mushrooms and all other veggies they grow. I comprehend that this chaga can be done more than you do. You can take chaga in almost powder crushed it , then cook it for two or three hours then save the tea, then take the chaga and place it into a bottle of vodka to extract the oils of the chaga not done in the boiling. You take a small amount to drink every day, it is not to get drunk but to take the other part of chaga. You are taking and dumping the best part of chaga, the oils. You can dry the chaga for yourself on a tray with holes made out of bamboo straws. it drys all thing, and set it up on a platform that hangs in the air easily circulating it with the fan on top of the stove. good luck. lazaro

This is a great idea! We harvest a bit of chaga and the Moka Pot idea is brilliant. Looking forward to it. Hello from New Brunswick :)
I have found several trees out behind my place in the forest. One has a huge growth on it.
Since I harvested them in the winter, they are dried out. I keep them in the freezer as if they were still frozen in the forest.
Love harvesting Chaga in Vermont and New Hampshire
Who is that stranger sitting next to Cali? He better be careful of Shawn James seeing that. Shawn doesn't appreciate unknown individuals getting close to Cali. 😆 P.S. Nice shave Shawn. :)
I noticed when a man shaves he looks so much younger.I wish there was something that can make a woman look naturally younger. 😁
A smile and kind words...lifts every one's spirits and takes years off them.
Really?! Who's talking?
Can't wait to see your garden this year 😁
I haven't a clue what chaga is. Never heard of it until I stumbled upon Shawn's videos, a couple of years back. Been hooked on his videos ever since, but chaga is unknown to me, UK.
Received the package of Chaga Chunks. Thanks Shawn.
Hi Shawn,
So how is Chaga similar to coffee, does it have a caffeine kick or an energy boost of any kind to it? I am interested in it because of you drinking it. Great idea to package and sell it. I remembered months back you talking about it asking if anyone wanted any to let you know, but heard nothing from you when I answered on the video. Great to see that this is what you meant.

Nice video, is that a coffee or "Chaga" cup made from a wide mouth canning jar and a leather sleeve and leather handle?
Have a great day!
Buongiorno......Che posto meraviglioso
many thanks to U and Cali, I do appreciated this video as usual................I will look at the medicine issue
Can't wait to get ours -it's on the way! Thank you for sharing!
Ah, had to go searching in the second channel for some of that old percolator action!
John Bergman has, he is a great source for healthy living!
Thank you. Chaga is great.
You can dry the chaga for yourself on a tray with holes made out of bamboo straws. it drys all thing, and set it up on a platform that hangs in the air easily circulating it with the fan on top of the stove. good luck. lazaro

I live in São Luís do Maranhão Brazil, my dream is to get to know this region.
This looks very much like the burr off of many trees but i would imagine that because of the tree, any thing fr om it is safe for consumption.
I have never heard the term before and wounder what it tastes like, i.e. does it taste like coffee.
Now i know about it i will keep my eyes open as we do get beach trees here in Australia although not that many ,
.theres always something new to learn in life.
