I feel like Baghdad is a massively underrated city in medieval history, to the point that it even outshined Constantinople itself at the time. Baghdad was the largest city in the entire Islamic Golden Age and was easily the most important economic hub for the world at the time, since it sat at the very center of the most important trade routes of Europe, Asia AND Africa, including the Silk Road.
It was also a world center of learning and greatly contributed to the advancement of science, philosophy, medicine and education. Baghdad was also the birthplace of algebra.

As an Arab living in America this seriously brought a tear to my eye. In most cases I only ever hear Arabic in media when it’s portrayed as the terrorist in video games or movies, and of course the news.
Ubisoft put our language here for the world to hear, not to portray a villain or a group of villains, but to portray an empire, a civilization, a culture..
This is so refreshing, and I feel insanely represented here. Thank you Ubisoft. This secured a preorder from me

Ubisoft have often put extra effort into languages in their games (like all the ambient dialogue in AC Origins in Latin, Greek and re-constructed Coptic), but I think this is the first time they've done full localization for a language that isn't in the standard set that are usually done anyway (English, French, Italian, German, Spanish)... really cool that they're making that extra effort to fully depict the setting and its culture.

It features Hidden Ones and the conflict is about the Anarchy at Samara when there was a succession crisis in the Abbasids, and at the same time there was a huge slave revolt called the Zanj Revolt. Both of which kind of lead to the powerful Abbasids becoming weak enough that they could not counter the crusaders leading to Assassin's Creed 1.

Credits to the artists of the game for once again blowing us away with a beautiful re-creation of such an important part of world history. Submerging players into a historic setting like Baghdad and the golden age of the Islamic world will hopefully inspire many to dive deeper into this significant part of history. Catapults us right in and makes us admire and re-appreciate where so many foundations of today come from. I can't wait to explore the House of Wisdom.
