  • We met Sebastiana, who competed in the Invictus Games this past May in Orlando, through a colleague who noticed she was struggling to walk in her AK prosthesis, despite the fact that it was equipped with an Ottobock X3 high-technology microprocessor knee system. The socket she was wearing was held on by a strap, Sebastiana explained, because her residual limb is short and it would frequently loose suction and fall off. She could not trust her prosthesis. We fit her with our NPS double-wall vacuum socket system and TaiLor Made prosthetic foot. Before long she was doing karaoke drills, pushing a sled, walking confidently and sitting comfortably with, as Sebastiana happily exclaimed, "no strap, no gap!" Just before returning home, she face-timed the colleague who referred her to us and showed him all her new abilities. Sebatiana's enthusiasm and zest for life are infectious, and we're so happy we could help her get back to doing the things she loves - including sports and competition! She'll be at the Invictus Games again next year, and hopes to be competing in more events in addition to wheelchair rugby - because She Can! #noboundaries
