    Brother Corey,
    You are such a smart man and I have learned so much from your ministry. I also love the fact that you stand firm on the word of God and know your bible very well. I once heard a pastor say " you can't sell the product if you don't know it" and you definitely know your bible. You also will not back down from anyone who is giving incorrect info or false teaching about the bible. You did a great job and held your own against those men on the panel and they proved their knowledge of the bible is weak and they don't know how to have a respectful conversation.
    Keep up the great work. I love your channel.❤👍😍❤🙏🏽💕😃❤

    I'm so thankful I found your channel and have been watching all of your other videos. I'm still an infant on my Christian path and am looking for a church after being in a prosperity gospel church before.
    I went and read some of the other comments on the original video and it definitely helps me understand why the Bible says "the road is narrow." I completely understand what you are saying about baptism and I thank you for helping calm me about that particular subject. I have had anxiety about it in the past but don't want to just be baptized in a church just to be baptized...I want to find a church to belong to first.

    I'm part of the leadership in a Bible study and prayer community on Discord. We are fairly open and have had some doctrinal debates over the years. I don't like to have to kick anybody, as I feel we shouldn't be afraid of these discussions if they can be had with civility, but one person I had to remove professed himself to be part of a Oneness Pentecostal ministry.
    I had to ask the patience of several members that he insulted and enticed to anger as I talked to him over a few days. In the end, it was the fact that he was being mean and seemed not to realize it that led to the action I took. I flat out asked him to humble himself, and he refused. I still think about it and pray for him, and we exchanged some messages after he was kicked.
    Some people want the responsibility that comes from being in charge and relish the authority to silence or expel people from a group. What makes me an authority on doctrine over another believer? But it seems consistent that the spirit in which this doctrine is brought is one of contention and manipulation. If you have to berate and ridicule those to whom you are preaching, then you simply do not have the Truth. The Truth goes before us and is our rear guard. And if we stand in the Truth, then we see that it is not man who says that Jesus is the Son Who proceeds from the Father, Who is preached to our hearts by the Holy Spirit Who also proceeds from the Father, that these three are One and are together and in agreement. These are the words of Jesus. Our work is to believe, and let Him explain what that means.

    I’m not oneness. It seems to me that Matthew 28:19-20 is talking about water baptism. God is the one who can baptize in the Spirit. It wouldn’t make sense for him to command the apostles to go and baptize people in the Spirit. It’s something that they can’t baptize them in. All that being said, Ephesians 2:8-9 make it clear that no work is required for salvation, so even if both passages were talking about water baptism, the oneness guys would still be wrong in saying it’s required. I also think every believer should be baptized in water if they’re physically able.

    In Acts 16, the jailer was saved BEFORE he and his family were baptized that night. Apostle Paul told the jailer to BELIEVE to be SAVED. In the New Testament times, once you believed and put your faith in Christ, you were baptized immediately after. The two actions went hand in hand as part of regular practice. Salvation comes before baptism.
    And the jailer[a] called for lights and rushed in, and trembling with fear he fell down before Paul and Silas. 30 Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” 31 And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.); which was removed from some translations. Water baptism is just acknowlegment of your believing. • @richwheeler
      @richwheeler Год назад +6

      You are correct. Romans 8:9 says that, if a person does not have the Holy Spirit, that person is not Christ's at all. So, yes, if you truly believe the gospel, you have the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12 says that God architects His church and selects the raw materials (us), assigning each one a unique role. The Holy Spirit gives one or more spiritual gifts to each member to fulfill their role, and then empowers that gift. You are or you aren't, with no between and no second experience.
      Water baptism is more than an acknowledgement. It is a proclamation of the gospel, since it represents the physical death and resurrection of Christ and the spiritual death and resurrection of the believer. You could think of it as the first time you "go witnessing!"

      @@KyrieEleisonMaranatha Water baptism is important because it identifies us with Christ's death and resurrection. It is one's first formal confession of conversion. However, the gift of the Holy Spirit happens when a person becomes a believer, not when somebody performs a ceremony with him.
      "But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his." Romans 8:9b
      If a "believer" does not have the gift of the Spirit, he is not Christ's at all. He is still a sinner, lost in condemnation, a false convert. You cannot separate the gift of the Spirit from conversion, and conversion is by faith apart from works (Romans 4:3-5, Ephesians 2:8-9).
      The endowing of the Spirit is not the same as the evidence of the Spirit. In Acts, some people gave evidence of the Spirit after baptism, but some gave evidence before baptism. So, you can't point to a pattern in Acts that does not exist.
      The evidence, by the way, was for the sake of the church. That God grafted in Samaritans and gentiles was earth-shattering to the Hebrews making up the early church. It also warned the Jews that they were under God's judgment. (Rome destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple in 70 AD.)
      Without the Holy Spirit, there is no conversion. The Spirit works conviction, faith, and repentance in those becoming believers. The Spirit baptizes them into the church, AKA the body of Christ.
      "Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God."
      - 1 Corinthians 2:12; contrast verse 14, which is about the unsaved
      That ceremonies convey grace or complete one's salvation is sacramentalism, baggage left over from the process of Protestants leaving Roman Catholicism and returning to scriptural teachings. Luther and Calvin never got as far as applying Ephesians 2:8-9 to baptism. That came later.
      If a church tells you that you have to do anything besides repenting from false religion and trusting Christ's substitutionary atonement for salvation (ALL of salvation), head for the exit.

    I watched some of this video but enough to make an intelligent response. I disagree that you interpretation of Mark 16:16 and Matthew 28:19 are referring to Spirit Baptism. I think that you came up with that opinion (intellectually) and not by the revelation of the Holy Spirit in order to refute a point of view that you don't agree with due to the fact that it grates against the theological views that you hold.
    The first scripture that I posit as my evidence is Acts 2:38: "Repent and be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ FOR the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." Notice that Peter did not preach that the gift of the Holy Spirit would come before repentance and baptism. It was not the message of the Apostles that the reverse was true, and granted God disrupted this paradigm of theirs in Acts 10 (The Spirit baptism happening before water baptism-God's way of breaking them out of becoming legalistic): this, however, was their original message.
    In Acts 2:38, the word, for, is: εἰς, in the Greek. Eis (pronounced, ice) is a preposition that denotes direction, location, or time, or introduces an object and is usually followed by a noun, noun phrase, or pronoun.
    As a student of Greek, I would have expected for you to be more thorough than to impose your own opinion on the text for the sake of winning an obviously winnable argument but you are intelligent enough to calculate that they would not be able to defend their view against your opinion.
    Anyhow, back to Acts 2:38, the object of Peter's declarative statement to those who heard him preach the Gospel on the day of Pentecost, to whom he told, Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, was 'the remission of sins'. The words, the remission of sins, is the object of the preposition of εἰς, and is a noun phrase.
    So, the Greek is clear that the object for which repentance and being baptized in water (both verbs in the Greek) are directed is the remission of sins. This is undeniable proof. The question is: How do we understand it? Does Acts 2:38 mean that repentance and water baptism are necessary for salvation?
    Well, I want to introduce a concept about water baptism, being mikh'ved, in the Jewish culture outside of ritual purification outside of the confines of the Jewish law was reprehensive to the Jewish mind. It's one thing to do ritual purifications. It's an entirely different thing to be baptized (mikh'ved) in the same manner as one converting from paganism to Judaism. This is why the Pharisees and scribes viewed John the Baptist and Jesus' ministry as reprehensible. They saw them as basicallly calling the Jewish people to repudiate the form of Judaism that they ascribed to as adherents of Judaism. Being mikh'ved or water baptism in Judaism, in conversion, was a ritual purification that symbolized the putting away of the old life as a gentile and rising to newness of life as a Jew. A Jew in their conception did not need to do that. They only needed to be purified from defilements that would preclude them from partaking in ritual aspects of their life as a Jew. In other words, along with physical circumcision being mikh'ved was a requirement for conversion for gentiles (not Jews) and to not do so, was looked upon as tantamount to being unconverted.
    John the Baptist before Jesus preached repentance and baptism in water for the remission of sins. (cf. Luke 3:1-3) Jesus began to preach the same message as John after he was taken to prison and told his disciples to preach the same message beginning at Jerusalem. (cf. Matt.4:17; Luke 22:44-49) (These facts alone go against your theory that the words of Jesus in Mark 16:16 and Matt. 28:19 was speaking on Spirit baptism)
    Now, this helps us to understand why Peter preached this way on the day of Pentecost. It was a message that would be reprehensible and hard to hear. It was a message that would require faith to respond. Remission of sins was paid for on the cross, it is imputed by faith without works but faith without works also is dead. (cf. Romans 3:21-4:12; James 2:14-17) Water baptism is a way of expressing our faith or showing our conversion to Christ and has been the standard of Christian doctrine for centuries. It is a part of the good works that God has beforehand prepared that we should walk in them. (cf. Eph. 2:8-10) To refuse to be water baptized when you can do it in obedience to the Gospel of Christ says something very negative about your faith being living and active. You should happy to respond in this way to what you have received because of Christ. That is the least that a believer can do because he calls for more than that from us, i.e., offering ourselves up to him as a living sacrifice which is our reasonable service. (cf. Rom. 12:1-3)
    In this sense, water baptism is necessary. It is necessary as an expression of our conversion to Christ. It is necessary as an actionable expression of faith that we have accepted his death, burial, and resurrection on our behalf. Refusal is the same as denying or rejecting what he has done on our behalf: which is why I dont accept the viewpoint that water baptism is unnecessary. Now, what I am not saying is that a person cannot be justified by simple faith in Christ. What I am saying is this: If they are truly justified and have been regenerated then they won't refuse to be water baptised. If they do refuse to do so then their salvation is in question. Ultimately, only God can condemn them but we can judge them with righteous judgment. That is all.

    Baptism is necessary but we need to note that God is fair. It was okay for the thief on the cross to be saved without being baptised because there was no way he could have gotten off the cross to get baptized. If one accepts Christ today and dies before the scheduled date for the baptism, he will be considered baptised. But if one refuses to get baptized, it becomes a problem.
    The exception should not be made the rule.When you get baptized, you are baptised into the body of Christ. A believer must belong to the body of Christ. So by all means, if you are a believer, get baptised unless circumstances don't allow.

      Baptism is not salvation by works. It is an expected step by one who has faith in Jesus. True faith gets demonstrated (faith without works is dead). Faith also leads to obedience. That's why a believer is expected to live and behave in a certain way.
      Refusing to be baptized is not a sign of faith. It is a sign that something is wrong. A person who has faith in Jesus does not resist God's instruction.

    • @Chesterchurch

      @@Nanjayal I agree with most of what you said. YES there are absolutely evidences of salvation. YES believers should get baptized and should have no problem with that. And YES faith does lead to a greater yearning and eventually hopefully less amounts of sin. I.e obedience. However, we cannot and will not ever be sinless or go on without sinning while here on this earth.
      Because sin is in our skin.in our members. And when we sin as believers, it's not even us that's sinning, it's literally the sin inside of us.
      But I'm talking about water baptism not being essential for being saved. If I got saved by God, drawing me Into His kingdom, and I died before getting baptized, in still saved.

    • @richwheeler
      @richwheeler Год назад

      @@Nanjayal What you say is correct. But doesn't address the issue.
      Many Pentecostal denominations say that faith is not enough because you are not saved until you are baptized. Some say you must not only believe and be baptized, but must also speak in tongues, in order to be "fully" saved. But, no, that's not enough, either, according to them. You must have faith, be baptized, speak in tongues, and persevere to the end by clinging to your faith, doing good, and not doing evil.
      That is the same type of bad doctrine that Galatians condemns. The Judaizers added circumcision as a requirement. That is works. Adding baptism (and all those other things) as a requirement for salvation is, indeed "works." "Works" is anything you must do, other than believe, in order to merit salvation.
      "Grace" means "unmerited favor." That which is not merited is not earned. "Gift" is a synonym. Receiving the gift of salvation as a gift is a requirement for receiving the gift. Anytime you try to deserve a gift, you insult the Giver and unintentionally refuse the gift.
      The error reverses cause and effect. Faith plus God's grace causes salvation. Faith motivates good works, so good works are an effect and evidence, not a cause. The Jews, the Judaizers (in Galatians), Catholics, Oneness Pentecostals, Islamists, and all the religions of the world make works into the cause. Only Christian faith makes works (including baptism) a result.

    That was some work Brother I feel every bit of this debate in a very personal way because I had to deal with this up close with family Members. I believe Oneness Pentecostalism has done more harm than imagined and has allowed persons to be used wittingly and unwittingly by the Adversary to misrepresent the Body of Christ by strife and Division. Though you and I might be careful in how we refute them to avoid further harm, both, to those who might not fully understand it, as well as many they are attracting to a sect that thrives more on contention with Christians rather than spreading of any Salvivic or Biblical truth. I love your spirit through this I have tried to share some materials on sites for, or supportive of Gino Jennings. This as you know can seem futile.
    A hallmark of these persons is their characteristic tendency to open anger and crass intolerance. I have had to ask on occasions "why are you so angry". the answer is usually some effort to claim it is holy indignation. I would like to link you some time on this issue as it is a much bigger problem than many average Christians see it. And many as a result feel people who try to deal with it are "picking at straws".
    My own main ministry right now is to not only Preach Salvation but to simultaneously ENLIGHTEN BELIEVERS for God's Kingdom which Christ declared even before the actual or full physical establishment of the N.T Church. My conviction my Brother is that Revelation chapters 5-6 dealing with the 4 FOUR HORSEMAN OF the APOCALYPSE which came forth at the OPENING of THE First Four of the SEVEN SEALS is Where we really are. There is really no mystery concerning the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Seals. However, the First HORSEMAN invites differences of opinion even among prominent theologians. I am just endeavoring to be a simple Servant of the Lord and no great theologian. But I believe Christ reveals in Matt. 24:1-27 that THIS RIDER IS A REPRESENTATION OF DECEPTION ABOUT HIS (CHRIST) WORK AND MISSION. I believe this is COUNTERFEIT CHRISTIANITY. This False System is also that to which Rev. 17:1-8 alludes. This is the WOMAN WHO RIDES THE SEVEN HEADED BEAST, signifying an unholy union with WORLD POWERS OR GOVERNMENTS. This the Scriptures describe as "FORNICATION", or in the Spiritual symbolism, The Great Harlot who carries a wine Goblet filled with abominable lustful enticement. Rev. 17: 5 describes her clearly. "and upon her forehead was written, MYSTERY BABYLON THE GREAT THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS". This False religious System is not just Rome or the Papal system as many like to harp. I agree with C. I Scofield on this, he says, "ECCLESIASTICAL BABYLON IS ALL APOSTATE CHRISTENDOM".
    I sense your burden Brother and hope we can share more on this sometime. Blessings.

It would make sense as to why Satan would not want that verse in scripture. How many Christians today have the signs of Mark 16:17-18? I realize that we are in the End Times. So much deception. The Lord Jesus warned us not to be deceived. I was deceived myself early in my walk with Him. I was rebuked and basically rejected by my first church. I asked the Lord to reteach me. He has stated that Pentecostals are brothers and sisters in Christ ( he disagrees with their doctrine though)

    • @richwheeler
      @richwheeler Год назад

      It's an inadequate distinction. One must not only come to the God Who Is, but also come in the way God commands. Since Pentecostals require faith plus works, grace plus wages, they do not come in the way that God commands. Many are saved by faith before they are mistaught, but many trust their merit. So I do not automatically believe they (individuals) are not brothers, but I do not take it for granted, either. I think Corey is more charitable toward them than is warranted.

      @@richwheeler Trinitarian pentecostals don't believe faith and works to be saved. Youre probabaly saying that because the biblically based belief that they can lose their salvation if they turn from God. If so... The Bible has strong support for both sides of the debate so you shouldn't have that mindset towards anyone that believes that. the importance is the deity of Christ, triune God, how to be saved, I also add in anticessationism, thats satanic doctrine that grieves the Spirit.

    • @realbarrylipscombjr
      @realbarrylipscombjr Год назад

      @@richwheeler Again, these are "oneness" who believe as you just stated. Not you orthodox, bible believing Pentecostals which is completely opposite concerning baptism(in the name of Father, Son, And Holy Spirit) vs Oneness, which is in the name of Jesus only. And they "Oneness" dont believe in the teaching of the trinity vs other Pentecostal denominations that do.

    • @richwheeler
      @richwheeler Год назад +1

      @@realbarrylipscombjr Not completely opposite. The formula is only one facet. The main facet is the reason for it. Many Trinitarian Pentecostals make the ritual a requirement for salvation, too. Pentecostalism is a very broad term. Requiring baptism for salvation and requiring glossolalia or perseverance to achieve "conditional salvation" sets many Pentecostals outside of orthodoxy.

    I'd never take a man who still goes by his high school nickname seriously, especially when he can't even state his position without childish name-calling. That does nothing to solidify whatever misconception he was spewing through his hateful mouth. I've heard nothing from them that proved the point they claimed to be true. All I've heard is scripture to back up what we smart Christians all know to be truth. I wouldn't waste my time on their opinion of Corey, because I've already wasted time on their unproven argument. Keep teaching Corey. Some people don't want to understand the truth; we certainly do!

They know it like the back of their hand and they all go to the exact same scriptures. I like the fact that Tony doesn't get involved because You can clearly see he doesn't know the scriptures. He's not like C Rock that will gladly fall on the sword repeating Gino's talking points.

I have been saved but because I don't speak in tongues they say you haven't received the holy spirit. I know that his spirit is in me for I care for the things of God and desire to follow him in all things! I appreciate that you cover these issues! Thank you and God bless you! 🙏❤️

    Corey I watched your video of this debate. I used to get in debates in prison I serve 12 and a half years in prison surrounded by Muslims atheist Hebrew Israelites Scientology 5% and a host of many others. Their reasoning is circular before you can answer one question clearly exhaustively contextually they jump to another question so to me it becomes circular reasoning it had gotten to the point where the younger brothers in Christ doing these debates would get caught up and you know we're supposed to protect the babes in Christ. I commend your zealousness for the word because in Jude we are told to contend for the faith that was once delivered unto the Saints. I laughed during the video because I've been Right Where You Are and you are an excellent example of a Christian man and your patience and respect was exhibited and your boldness I pray for your ministry I pray that you continually hold the word of God up and Hold those who claim to know the word of God to the high standard of the word which is truth truth truth God bless you

    Brother Corey, what are your thoughts on Acts 8, specifically verses 12 -17?
    Do you agree the baptism in verses 12 and 16 is indeed water baptism?
    What is your understanding as to why the people who had Christ preached to them, even though they believed and were baptized, had not received the Holy Ghost until after the Apostles came and laid hands on them?
    Acts 8:12-17 (KJV)
    12. But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
    13. Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.
    14. Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
    15. Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
    16. (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
    17. Then laid they [their] hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.
    Thanks,
    God Bless

      Matthew 13:24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:
      Matthew 13:25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
      Matthew 13:26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
      Matthew 13:27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?
      Matthew 13:28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
      Matthew 13:29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
      Matthew 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
      _Jesus sown the good seed. Right after the enemy came and sown the tares among the good seed._
      _Good seed = the four Gospels; Matthew, Mark, Luke, & John._
      _The tares were sown then after._
      _Everyone knows Jesus came and sown the good seed. And everyone knows who came right after Jesus and sown much seed intermingled with what Jesus had sown._
      _Many people (instead of following what Jesus had sown) insist upon following that which was sown after Jesus._

    Reminds me of what happened in Galatians. They were lied to and told they had to be circumcised to be saved, something other than faith. Something they had to do. We know what happened after that. Just seems like another thing people are being lied to saying they have to do to be saved. Makes me think of Romans 11:6 as well. In Ephesians it’s very clear that we are saved by God’s grace through faith. God has done all the work and wants us to have faith in Him. Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved.
