Two faces of Bretty:
Mozart 🥰
Shotsty:🤨
yah I love Mozart most
😭
Fitting enough for Brett hahhha
y r u calling him shosty?/////////////////////////
shosty is Shostakovich
2024 has been a very important year in music:
- New Mozart piece.
- New Chopin piece.
- The end of TwoSetViolin.
Oh I thought the first 2 were a joke but they actually dropped new music in 2024!
They would normally make a parody vid using those new pieces. Sadly, that era has ended😢
I actually really liked the I'm Bach one.
A little upset on the first 2, it seems they didn't want the pieces to be heard. Like they didn't live up to the composer's expectations. Where were they found?
@@brandonstinson4988the Mozart one is a very simple composition probably made in his juvenile years, so it's not like it's any different from his other juvenile works, and it wasn't hidden even, it was found in some library I think.
As of Chopin I'm not well informed
"They can silence the artist but, they can not silence the art."
QUOTE OF THE CENTURYYYYYY!! 🎉🎉
Isn't an actual quote by Shostakovich himself, "Art destroys silence"?
@moineten Ye!! Albiet this line is a rephrasing of said actual quote
@@ALSOCELYN Ohh I see.
And also "Play a wrong note, a simple mistake. Play without passion, the man is deranged."
Brett doesn’t even need to act. He IS Shostakovich
And Mozart, those are really Brett's 2 moods 🤣
Fr though
Literally. Though Brett makes music that would send shivers even down shosty's spine lmao 😭
the lofi was the final nail in the coffin for me
riel
As a shostakovich fan , I'm delighted , the 8th string quartet, the 1905 symphony 11 mvmt 2 ,the massacre music , the stalin regime , this is epic retelling of a great story.
Litterally!! And the lyrics being pretty accurate is also great. And the ending being him the only one that hasn’t left because even when he was close to death he was never completely free. Ah it’s so good!
Lol, I know Shostakovich so poorly that I didn't recognize ANY reference!
@@RaptorT1V lol it took me years of digging and reading comments of his pieces
@@GABGABGABSHARP the lyrics was incredible and so on point gotta agree. " You oppress your own people , that's probably why you walked out of lady mc beth " that was a great historical reference. The relationship between stalin and shostakovich is simply told best by the line " they can silence the artist but they cannot silence the art"
@@vijaykrishnan7797especially the line “but what flaw do we follow a murderous tyrant - ahem I better watch what I say” is another phenomenal historical reference as Shostakovich and many others in this time would have the fear of being snitched by neighbors, family, and friends for political views. In turn they’d be killed the snitch would be rewarded, or, the snitch also killed, or the snitch condemned and then killed.
Funny how the things Shostakovich dealt with are still really relevant today.
I mean, he wasn’t around that long ago
The storm is coming to the USA.
Right! I was torn between... was that then or is this a political statement about now?
This is what happens when people don't learn their history and are doomed to repeat it. Same struggle, different era.
Do you think that’s why the mv seems to be set in modern times instead of during Stalin’s regime? To draw out the idea that this remains relevant today.
I know B2TSM is suppose to be a joke for hybrid classical and k-pop music, but dayum... that's some banging music if you ask me.
I think they like K-pop actually, they just don't mention it now
Not necessary K-pop LOL
Eddy Chen 1000% like pop music,
but Brett was like pure classical breed unless the pop song is wayyyyy to popular to be heard in everywhere he goes when he is out of his house LOL
Last time if he knows that song,
then the pop song singer and their production team should happy about that because
it's equivalent to the song has been viral and gone so mainstream everywhere LOL
It was originally with the duh duh duh dm thing they did, but I think with these they branched out way more and really focused on the composers and putting a modern spin on the original, rather than kind of satirizing it in a mock kpop-form like they did before
A lot more serious and a different take imo
From
_"Composition Is A Practice, A Practice Of Creation"_
to
"yOu'Re aLl a BuNcH oF lOsErS"
to
*"The pain, the void, innermost suffering"*
to
"Like a bird with broken wings"🦢🦢
and finally
"They can silence the artist but can not silence the art."
"What was yours was always mine."
Why did I read "Fly, broken wings."
Dun dun dun Dum
@@ErnestasMageLike a fly with broken wings
@@ErnestasMage Fly broken wings.... Where have you been hiding....
I'd like to interpret the last scene as: he never really escaped the shadow of the Soviet Union himself (he died before the dissolution), and nor have we from the dogmas of world governments and societies, and even more so the demands of modern public audiences - the common people watching YT who demand content creators to make stuff "in accordance to the flow". It's now getting rarer and rarer that content creators and artist make a rational based opinion that isn't influenced by what they've been demanded to make, with little freedom to do what they really want to do because of politics (beware whether what they say might offend anyone and goes in Media), economics (pay, jobs) and especially the audience (need I say more?)
I was looking for a comment about the ending, I came to a similar conclusion myself. Awesome interpretation!

THE CINEMATOGRAPHY AND VISUALS ON THIS ONE??? IM FLABBERGASTED- I feel as if their lyric writing skills need to be appreciated more, with all the personal references to the lives and experiences of each composer, it almost feels like it's their (the composers) last creation to express and say all the things they weren't able to say or do in their lifetime. TwoSet put their ALL into their final goodbye, they'll be missed, but for everything they've done, I say the biggest *thank you* to them and good luck for their future. 🫶🫶
THIS!
Brett and Eddy are creators, even more than they are musicians, which is why they quit their orchestras in the first place. We will. see them again in the future. Creators gotta create!
The duality of Brett Yang! After Momo's cheekiness, chuckling and dancing, we get oppressed, depressed and yet strong Shosty, fighting for freedom and art!
They can silence the artist but they cannot silence the art! 🔥
literally had full body chills when he said that lol
What a great lyric!
OMG ONLY ONE MV LEFT 😭😭 can’t believe i’m probably going into 2025 without TwoSet but thanks for everything, Brett and Eddy! 🫶
how do you know they won’t be making videos anymore? like I know they said they were going to leave youtube but now that they are making this videos I thought that they would return. Did they say anything about it? like if they are going to retire after this videos??
@alexdangeloguix6719 there is a ny times article
@alexdangeloguix6719 They said it in an interview with the NYT
They got tired of the public scrutiny, so they've decided to leave us with "la crème de la crème" of the channel, and 6 MV as a farewell...
Wait, wasn't this their last mv though?
@Natsumi-bt5bzthat’s a shame:( I was really looking forward to eddy playing brahms for 5 mil
The way Mozart and Shosty are polar opposites but Brett embodies them both so well! ALSO THIS WAS FIRE 🔥
This was SO GOOD!!! I was so hyped for this one as a Shostakovich fanboy.
The plot of this MV is very intriguing. In my opinion, young DSCH was once happy to be a prominent artist in the Soviet Union. That was until his condemnation, where DSCH found the truth of Stalin's tyranny the hard way. The MV's simulation is a representation of Stalin's regime, supression and its falsehood of idealism, forced "peace and happiness" through propaganda and authoritarian control. Artist were being repressed and silenced, who were DSCH's own friends and family. Despite being disillusioned by the regime, however, his love for his comrades never left him. While DSCH was depressed and paranoid at this time (who can blame him), the MV shows the secret undertones and messages within his music. With music, the Soviet people were about to mentally unplug from the tyranny of the simulations and see the truth for what it is. But at a cost, Shostakovich had to be sacrificed to stay in the simulation, a puppet for the regime til the end of his life. A tragic yet beautiful story. Good art can not be silenced for long, it will play. His is music lives on beyond his own time. I think Shostakovich would be moved to tears to see the love for his work from around the world.
Yeah, agree!
i'm watching this from russia and literally crying. thank you twoset!!!
sending prayers brother
@ thank you🙏🏻 at least politicians aren't immortal
Stay safe
Wishing you the best
i am always amazed by how they re-interpret the legacy and music of these composers through their own original music and video production in a way that it can almost be a tool for knowledge and a source of entertainment. very very seated for the last mv :')
I really cant wait when music historians analyze their B2TSM work and appreciate the details. I too want to learn about all these wonderful people and how they shaped music and culture.
People are talking about how the song uses shostakovich symphony 11 mov 2 at 1:03 but what is really fascinating is how the opening two chords are also taken from the climax of the same movement. Its really subtle but instantly apparent if you listen to them after each other.
“They can silence the artist but they can not silence the art” WOW that’s powerful.
Hooooly sheet music, now I want a whole movie about this guy, the acting is incredible, Brett!
oh my god! 1:03 is shostakovich symphony no.11 mov2 which is about the gunfire suppression. fantastic but terrifying when paired with the music video.
like this if you discoverd that by yourself 😎😎😎
Actually the opening chords are also taken from the same movement. Listen to the climax of 11 mov 2 and then the first few seconds of this song.
"they can silence the artist but they can not silence the art"
i'd like to think that also means even though two sets gone, their legacy isn't ❤
Everyone just chilling until Mr. Shostakovich dropped a banger! I love how all the songs sound unique and make us feel completely different, like you can tell both Beethoven and Shostakovich’s are intense but in a different way. The creativity is at its peak level🔥.
Two of my favourite songs. You can really feel the passion
the last frame goes so absolutely HARD. like something right out of a dystopian still life painting!!
That shot of Brett in the dark room with the beams of light is literally stunning 2:58
Yeah
can't believe why this MV has very few views. I love this one the most among all 6 MVs
I love how I watched this and instantly became interested in his life. Almost immediately I googled his bio, and found that he wasn't as plain as I thought. I appreciated his loud and depressed music more after acknowledging his background. Love you shosty !!
this makes shostakovich look so badass (even though he already was)
I love that there's a modern, dystopian mass surveillance/cyber twist to this.
The message by which Shostakovich lived his life has never stopped being relevant. Absolutely chilling. Amazing work Twoset.
I agree.
Damn, he worked so hard to free other people, but at the end, he couldn't free himself. Too relevant today. Gosh, I've got chills. I'm so happy to see you both continue your journey. Good luck!
Dear Eddy and Brett,
These brilliant music video’s make it crystal clear that you have really outgrown the ‘talking to an out of focus camera videos’. You have grown so much as artists! Although the old video’s are unique, educational and entertaining and your fans (including me) still love them, everyone can see that it’s time for you to move on now. Whatever you will do in the future, I’m sure it will be amazing. Just follow your heart and do things that make you happy, you deserve it!.
To be honest, I much preferred the old videos, with classical music related humor than this modern music with beat thing. But, hey, it's their life, their choices. I just wish they'd bring the good, old videos back.
@@diviajar1411 agreed. I don't fully understand why they removed their past, but hey if they feel that was necessary for the next step, that's also good :)
Both styles are excellent.
Genius is not only Shestakovich, but you guys too!!! Bravo!!! 🔥🔥🔥👏👏👏
"Who are they that we millions obey when our freedom is only display" 🔥🔥🗣‼️‼️🗣‼️‼️
I HEARD THE PIANO TRIO NO 2 LINE AT 2:08 AND I ALMOST EXPLODED THATS MY FAVORITE PIECE OF HIS AHEHFJELKSHDHSKS
He uses the Jewish motif in the String Quartet No. 8 as well
@@_blanding I recognised it from string quarter no.8, I didn't know he used the same melody in piano trio no.2 (I should've listened to the whole piece damn), although ik that he used Jewish melodies for multiple of his works

Such a beautiful quote!Masterful lyrics and amazing vocals!
This one is my fav. I'm so sad that I won't find your genius mind in the form of TSV anymore.
I hope you will still chanelling your creativity in other form.
Two Set is a legend and a herritage

„Camrades!” was powerful
These masterpieces drop too hard too fast 😭! Can't believe there's only one left now!
This is the last one, isn't It?
@hajnalkalozsi2426 there's one more song left. Probably one starring every member.
@sabrinai Pag?
@@hajnalkalozsi2426 Based off the NYT photos, the last one has each member in it simultaneously.
I wish this had more views. The video and the song hit me really hard, especially as a person from Eastern Europe and a post-communist country. Even from the beginning, that opening line-'black cars'... Man, it's really dark, and the saddest part is that this is still relevant today.
Well done, TwoSet ❤
Of all the BTSM videos, the shotaskovich segments have been my favorites, his work is so relevant today
I was expecting Shotsy will be a powerful one, but this one hits hard! Especially after watching him smiling brightly as Momo, this paranoid yet strong side of Brett shines through. The underlying tone of the testament that art will won over the oppression is clear, yet the storyline of the mv is twisted so that this could just be Shotsy's imagination. Brilliant in many ways!
While it's sad to realize there will be only one more mv and live chat to look forward to, I sincerely would like to thank twoset for all the B2TSM videos! They are such great creative works, showing deep respect for the composers while being entertaining. Will support you all the way, in whatever you choose to do in the future!!

Correct me if I'm wrong or if I missed something '^^
Thanks!
Wow , amazing man
Thank you so much
tysm!!
its worth noting that music 1:56 - 2:10 is also in his second piano trio (which is, incidentally, my favorite piece of music).
This is my favorite of the new b2tsm videos. The percussion and bass is so intriguing, the rapping is good too.
I can’t help but notice the use of VR in this video…. I know it’s not what he fought against but the parallels of people being trapped while believing they are in an ideal world has eerie parallels to modern-day technology without even being related to the government. It’s just smthng I wish people would recognize more
"They can silence the artist, but they cannot silence the art." Powerful ending!
I'm listening to 53 hours worth of Shostakovich string quartets starting today.
This shows Shostakovich's struggles so clearly! "They can silence the artist but they cannot silence the art" is my favourite.
I still like Tchaikovsky's more but they're all amazing :D
Brett singing: 🤗
Brett rapping: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Bro you can see the silent passion and determination in Brett’s face it’s almost like Shosty actually came back to 2024 to make new art for us 😭
Twoset we will miss u foreverrrrr
THIS IS INCREDIBLE!!! And the message is so true!!👏🏻
I had heard of shostakovich before, but the first time I got to know more abt him was b²tsm (which I lived so much). what brett and eddy shared abt him in that song intrigued me and I ended up writing my academic paper on him. I'm still not an expert but omg it's so great to listen to this now, understanding everything. the verse at 1:33 is genius. both music and lyrics wise (like so many other parts of this song like damn the whole thing, the visuals?? definitely my favourite out of the b²tsm songs)
thank you so much Brett and Eddy, TwoSetViolin, for giving us this parting parting gift, all the effort you (and your team) put into it, for giving us one last thing to remember before going out with a BANG
Thank you for the passionate portrayal of the world Shostakovich spent much of his life in. Now for something possibly sacrilegious: World of Tanks is developed by a company run by Russians. Tank crew members are assigned random names based on their nationality, usually not of famous people. However, I have a tank crew member named Dmitri Shostakovich.
I was looking for this one the most and I'm so stunned. That is amazing. Being Russian, Shostakovich is inspiring me the most from our classical ones. And Brett's portrayed him so well. Such a powerfull work.
And thanks for everything you did for us, guys. You always felt like a safe space. There was a period of time in my life when I slept with you lingling 40 hours vids on the background every day because of how relaxing for me they were. I never had a chance to see you live, but 4 mil Mednelsson was the piece I cryed relistening once in a while. I fell in live with Ravel's music because of Brett's sudden representations of Tzigane here and there and with classical music in general. You created so much memories for me and all of us, and I just want to say thank you for being here even in the most difficult times. Now we are going to be here for you and let you have the rest you deserve.
Be happy and stay true to yourseves.
You silent, but loving viewer.
Eli🖤
Lyrics, music, Brett, production, video, every aspect of "My Testament" is CAPTIVATING.
This sent me down a rabbit hole of researching Shostakovich (I didn’t know much about him before just a few of his pieces) now that i know more about him I understood a lot more of this song. I love how many references and songs are in this!
Gosh I hope this renews people's appreciation of Shostakovich. He is SO relevant to today. Brilliant! I love that you've brought him forward in time for us.
They were doing a better job at bringing new appreciation for classical composers before they sold out and “rebranded.”
@@Nicholas-ze5vvtrue but if this is what they want then they should do what they want ig
The composers and lyricists of these songs of TwoSet are amazing! Sad that this series of MVs mark the closing of this channel.
Wow wow wow! Every one of these MVs just blows me away. They’re all so distinguishable and original… I can only imagine all the hard work and effort that went into making them. I’ll really miss everything TwoSet did for the internet and all us musicians!!! Thank you for everything Brett and Eddy!!!
musically, my favorite one so far. also, unreal video production and creativity. speechless.
Bach got uploaded into the matrix and Shostakovich is stuck in the VR matrix.
TSV is sending a message through the matrix.
Twoset leaves the matrix. They want out.
This one’s probably my favourite! But all of the videos are great!!!!! I just watched all at once finally, and I don’t know what else to say except they are really great! Thank you Bret and Eddy for putting in all the efforts to making these!
"My story is relevant now." Unfortunately :[
It kills me that he's the only one left in the headset at the end. I suppose that's what sacrifice is.
Your rap your lyrics so full of meaning! I'm in love with all composers in your realising!

Whoa...that was intense😳
I really need to look up more of Shostakovich's music...
Oh my goodness
That's brilliant!!
Shostakovich is my bias of B2TSM now 🥰🥰
Sounds like they’re speaking (singing) from experience. Changing the world (of classical music) and becoming famous is not free for anyone, not even today. 🫡 to you both for giving a voice to those who came before you.
This is Art.
It sent shivers down my spine.
Thank you !
I KNEW this one would shake me. Gentlemen, you and your production team are on. fire.
As a shosty and twoset fan, this is easily the best thing since the “The Year 1905” symphony
Also I heard the String Quartet no. 8 at 2:08 and Jesus Christ my heart stopped for. Moment
1000/10 this is amazing
Producer Shaun did it again!
They really out did themselves with this music video and lyrics
Here are all the references to Shostakovichs music I could find
I’m assuming the main ostinato is taken from the 11th symphony.
I believe the droning theme is a variation of the DSCH motif with the last note, H (B) cut out.
0:31: String Quartet No. 8, II
1:01: Symphony No. 11, II. it’s the theme I like to call “the screams of horror theme”, it’s the part in the symphony where the entire crowd has been surrounded by the Tsarist troops and are being brutally slaughtered.
2:03 is also from his 8th quartet, it’s from the same movement as well, it’s the twisted klezmer theme he included as the main climax.
Please let me know if I missed anything!
The entire video is amazing, but I especially love the last shot; it's so beautiful and chilling.
"They can silence the artist, but they cannot silence the art," is a fire line.
Aside the genius of this piece, can we also talk about the cinematography?? Insane!!!
The statements being made in these final pieces are no joke.
Brett and Eddy, these have been amazing. Thank you for all the years of videos, laughs, and education. Ling Ling would be proud. Going to miss you guys but am excited to see what comes next in your lives.
The parallels of past and present 👏👏👏
Fire fire fire 🔥 I'm crying. I love the lyrics and thought behind it.
"They can silence the artist, but they cannot silence the art." WOAH THIS LINE COOKED
I feel so inspired by this lyrics
that's powerful lyrics!
Going out with a bang, eh. This was quite some production and an incredible performance from Brett. You'll both be missed but I wish you every success with future endeavours - 'They can silence the artist but they cannot silence the art'.... TwoSet Violin will soon be silent 😥but your creative juices will not be stifled. Shall miss you guys....
Looks like another music will be added too my playlists
This is the best song I've ever heard. Literally. And brett just looks incredible and his acting is dope af
I love how the intro mirrors Russians by sting, even though it is about the cold war it is still applicable. Ironically, the music used for Russians is based on Prokofiev's Lieutenant Kije Suite, who famously wrote a lot of pieces for Stalin. Even though Shostakovich disagreed with him, he greatly respected Prokofiev and is said to have written this to him "I wish you at least another hundred years to live and create. Listening to such works as your Seventh Symphony makes it much easier and more joyful to live."
This has strong "Person of Interest" (tv show that I personally REALLY love) vibes and I LOVE IT, IT SLAPS SO HARD. This whole series of videos is top tier quality, from the photography to the costumes, and how you embodied all the artists. Complimenti, guys! (I had to say it in italian because it's a more satisfying word haha)
Brettt and Eddie, I miss you oh so much! I wish you the VERY BEST in your glorious futures; you are absolutely superb! What a rare combination of artistry and humor. How you have brightened my days!! BRAVO!! Grazie per tutti!!!!

Just freaking fantastic--meaningful historically and contemporarily. Beautifully rendered as cinematic and symbolic content. Can't say enough how amazingly Brett & Eddy have developed a whole new level.
Wow!! Brett this is perfect! This is fighting for 1st place of my favorite songs from B2TSM!
Shostakovich is my favorite composer by far. Such an epic story but quite bittersweet
I'm glad for their retirement, especially with these pieces mostly with criticism about today's society as farewell content. They were, imo, coming too close to doing content for fan service (and getting a huge following from kpop fans, who are mostly delulu about celebrities). If they decided to leave social media behind, it's because they kept true to their values and didn't want to cash in on that type of fame.
Good luck for future projects!
You mean they sold off their personable brand that interacted with the fan base, who happened to have built their careers, for a commercialized industry that isn’t at the core what influenced people to support them to begin with. They were making a truly positive change by influencing my generation to be interested in classical music. Now they’re hardly pulling over 100k viewers. They turned their back on all of their fans.
@Nicholas-ze5vv so you think that because they were successful with their channel they shouldn't be allowed to quit and do something else? Are they your slaves or something? That's exactly the delulu fan mentality I was referring to, thanks for showcasing it as an example.
And what "commercialized industry" are you referring to exactly, since we still don't know what they'll be doing after retiring? If you are talking about the classical music industry, they always liked that, and based their channel off of that, so I have no idea what you are talking about.
And what's even funnier is that you want them to keep doing RUclips and Instagram, and doing fan service, pretty much like any other kpop celebrity, and All these things are Much More "commercialized " than classical music 🙄
@ Your entire comment was just putting words in my mouth. You gotta actually figure out what I believe before arguing against it. Obviously the can quit, but it’s distasteful to ghost their fan base, people who have spent plenty of money and time supporting them, and leaving them in the dark with no warnings, or even explanations. No videos, no comment posts, and we didn’t get any activity whatsoever for-what, two months? It’s very disrespectful and disappointing, and I have plenty of fair reason to be upset with them being inconsiderate of all their supporters. If you put yourself in a position such as they did, you’re taking on a responsibility to your fans.
@Nicholas-ze5vv "of course they can leave! But it will be very disrespectful to the fans, as they should keep posting, making videos, and giving explanations to their fans. They can quit, but we'll be rightfully upset for it". Indeed, your words completely proved me wrong 👀
And btw, it's not putting words in your mouth, is paraphrasing. You were actually, once again, very eloquent in proving my point
@ That’s not paraphrasing, it’s a straw man logical fallacy. You’re twisting my point to make it sound contradictory. My point was that they can quit, but there’s a right and a wrong way to do it, and they should respect their fans in doing so.
"They can silence the artist but they cannot silence the art" 🔥
"They can silence the artist but they can not silence the art"
The production and storytelling will forever be unmatched. Well done!!! 🤍🤍
Wait a damn second! The last scene.... is it shostakovich's simulation? Like how we see different people wired to that device and imagine themselves in a perfect life and then shosty comes and frees all of them to start a new freedom. But then it cuts to shosty sitting there wired to that device. So is it supposed to say that everyone is still chained and the freedom movement is just shosty's perfect life simulation? Damn....
I think he succeeded because at the end he's the only one sitting there. Though I'm confused too
I feel like the 6th mv will be either paganini or all of bt2sm members
I was thinking Sibelius as they did Paganini, Sell out a couple of years ago, it's still on their channel. Bit stuck for another option though as they covered so many!!
Hopefully there will be 7 MV, the 6th will be Paganini, the 7th the same it's all of them
Sibelius would def sound cool, sadly they announced that there will only be 6 mvs tho
There are behind the scene pictures from Bangkok: all of the 5 musicians there, no sign of other.
ahem they did both paganini and all of them already
Dang, I absolutely dig the visuals in this one ahhh Brett is literally the man XD
