Great to see another Dublo update. I’ve spent a couple of Hours today doîng the same thing on a Duchess of Montrose for my son in law / grandchildren. I don’t have a remagnetiser unfortunately, but I do have a stock of 7mm neodymium cube magnets. Two of those did the trick, and After Installation of the magnets and a full stripdown, clean and service, 46232 will now handle 8 heavy Dublo coaches with ease.
As for your 0-6-2T I think she might need some new brushes, they look very short.
So satisfying bringing these beauties back to life ❤
Great, nice to hear more dublo coming back to life. I would have put new brushes in but I need to get some more. Many thanks again for watching and messaging.
These old dublo and wrenn are Such a joy to work on.
Im with you, the patina often gives them a bit of character.
I dont tend to repaint them unless the original finish is totally trashed.
I keep saying it, I love them! Thanks for watching and talking the time to comment.
Gotta love Hornby Dublo locos. They are some of the easiest locos to get running, in my experience. I got a beautiful Denbigh Castle loco which was completely seized. All I had to do was remove the motor and hand turn the wheels while putting some oil on the axles until they freed up. Now she's an excellent runner. These N2's especially are built like tanks, though.
I do love them and the way they thunder round, there is just something about them, while we have all the detail we could whish for now, a modern loco just doesn't seam to have the same charisma. Thanks for watching and taking the time to message.
Good stuff Matt.
The Hornby Dublo and Tri-ang locos are often simple service fixes.
Happy Modelling
Yes they are! very rewarding! Thanks Mon.
Ronald Dodd is his name. Thanks for a great video. Your wheel cleaning method is mechanically perfect. However I had the experience of using fine steel wool on a model once with the magnet still in place. So I was running the motor to clean the wheels. and the magnet picked up some of the wool dust/fibres which spread through the armature and mechanism and caused multiple shorting ……. Cleaning it up was a nightmare. Never did it again. Small bits of Emery paper do a good job.
I can wash my HD mechanisms complete with motor in eucalyptus oil (consistency of kerosene but OK on my nose) .
That's it Ronald Dodd thank you. I to made the same error with wire wool but now always make sure I have the magnet out and before a clean. I will make a point of noting that in the next service video, but you are right emery cloth would be better. Thanks again Kimball.
Good work
nice one Steve.
i clean up and replace magnets still think i have one of the largest 3 rail layouts !!
There are no many of us running 3 rail! Anyway many thanks for watching and taking the time to message.
