The idea that humans and nearby aliens species were seeded by another earlier alien species was a story line 20+ years ago in Star Trek:

I was wondering too about what happens in the end with the Earth. I really liked your speculation that humans would eventually arrive to Erid, as they are more technologically more advanced, and now they have the most efficient fuel making speace travel very cheap.
What I was wondering is with on top of that, and very quickly learning about each other thanks to Grace and Rocky, both forms of life will have the interstellar cooperation of sharing new knowledge and finding ways to do more ambitious space travel, and I'm thinking that they both would take over the Tau Seti system (I think it's close to middle between the Earth and Erid), study the origins and mysteries of Astrophage and Taumoebia (like how it was contagious to nearby stars and also to potentially see if Rocky's theory of common ancestor is correct). Furthermore, given that all three life forms are within a few light years apart, statistically there must be many more forms of life to explore and cooperate with the intelligent ones, and so on and so forth ...

love this theory!! I'd like to imagine something exactly like this happening-the remaining humans joining forces with the Eridians to fill any gaps in knowledge from either side and getting to the bottom of who that common ancestor might be!
