- I have seen videos claiming to make UCP work by dying it odd colors. I think I found a way to get the two different colors people actually want.

I've been toying with the idea of trying some stuff. The UCP stuff is good gear, just obviously the pattern sucks. I don't use MOLLE anyway, but it would be nice to get some of the uniforms to actually function in a woodland environment. Local salvation army had hundreds of UCP uniforms when Norwich university switched over to OCP. Entire uniforms brand new in packages for $5.00. I got a brand new uniform in medium regular, along with several undershirts, socks, 3 fleece jackets, and 2 caps. Plus a pair of unissued boots. Paid under $100 for everything. Wish I had gone back and grabbed a goretex jacket. I prefer and use m81 for most things, but I couldn't pass up the deal, and as a collector I had yet to add ucp to the collection.
Boondockery (?) on RUclips has experimented with dying UCP and has had some success.
Brown UCP looks nice... would be perfect in woodland temperate area where i live..but i wouldnt mind the original UCP just for winter conditions XD

I envy your patience. I would have loved to do that but I am not sure I could get a good result. Probably good to dye it somewhat for a base color anyways. I will try painting in the future.

those are good, very good results, IMO
I use spray paint for fast and simple, and for me it was good enuf, I set the bar low.
Leather dye to touch up and fill in the short comings, most leather dye colors are very dark, net effect is darkish, I can take whatever comes with cheap UCP to start with, paint knocks off the shine on the newer UCP MIL SURP
Now it looks like russian EMR :)
Can't help but wonder if you bleeched the UCP first (lightly) if it would come out better with the first mix.
You should have left it in for the full 30 minutes. Very important
It would have just turned out being in cold water. Not too impressed with how cold water dyes
I've a buttload of UCP gear. Bought it because it was cheap. Not being former military, didn't know everyone hated it and it didn't "Camo" well at all.
I've been slowly replacing it, but being retired now on disability, I have to save up, because Soc. Sec. just isn't that great, especially in Biden's Economic Sh*tShow.
Nice job, I'm going to try it on some of what I have replaced.
What Dye # is best for OD or Ranger Green?
