I tried long haul with them Melbourne to KL. Around 7 hours. It wasn't bad. I would be glad to use their service if they fly to Europe instead of Emirates or Qatar, that is if they offer cheaper fares. I've only flown with Emirates, MAS and Finnair to Europe before.

That's KLIA 2, not to be mistaken for KLIA main terminal. KLIA 2 is dedicated for low cost carrier and it got 2 side, front side when u mentioned 'mall feeling' - it is a mall, i think it called gateway or something. Then when u walk across the check in area, that IS the airport terminal 🤣

Well... At least Air Asia X provides good connection service at Kuala Lampur Airport. Last year when I flew from Singapore to Beijing with Air Asia (Malaysia and X), I transferred flight in Kuala Lampur and I didn’t need to pick up luggage. My bags were checked in straight to the destination. This was better than other budget airlines...

air asia seems like a good low cost airline, but i don’t think low cost and long haul is a good combination

Long haul and low cost flights seems like a good idea, yet we only had two main airlines building this: Frenchbee and Air Asia X
I flew them 6 times now,a really good long haul LCC in Asia,food is fun,friendly crew and all that good stuff,can't really find a fault in them.

3-3-3 seating is rare on airbus a330s. But common on a350s and 787s and some 777s
