Nah, Unitree's is still better. DEEP Robotics and Unitree, both ironically based in China, are both far ahead in this domain as no one else has shown any equivalents. But Unitree showcased way more in their demo. This video by DEEP was good but pretty similar to the first video they showcased back in November.

maybe to avoid speculation about AI from the layperson, yeah but anyone with experience in VFX or who is just a fan of VFX can tell you this is legit. most of it is in the physics. yes the environmental interactions are a good indicator that it's real but those can be faked. those are the parts of the video that are easy to fake. add a blockout of the model to the environment, run the wheels through simulated body of water, render out the splashes, and composite onto the original frame. that's not difficult. what's difficult is the movement here. the gravity on display. the thousands of microadjustments made by the machine to stay stable, the jittery movement on the ground, it all lends to a type of realistic dynamic motion that would require the most experienced vfx animators in the world to pull off. Even Marvel movies don't have gravity like this in their cgi. edit: I am slightly skeptical of the very first shot, where it leaps across the river. The motion in that one throws me off. But the rest of the video seems legit. Especially given snow. Snow is super fucking hard to do right with vfx because it doesn't move like a fluid and imparts INSANE resistance on anything movin through it, and we see that here

I don't think that's why they add demanding environments to these videos. It shows its waterproof, it handles cold temperatures etc.
