  • If you'd worked harder than you ever had before, for decades, and see hundreds of millions of dollars in your bank account, do you think you'd be able to relax?
For me, this wasn't the case.
In this revealing Straight Talk, Layne Beachley managed to flip the script and somehow put me under the spotlight.
What drives me? It's not money. It's an obsession with trying to innovate, trying to change the way things are done.

Your conversation with Layne Beachley just keeps on giving....very interesting insight into some real issues that can come with business success and wealth...and whilst experiencing the stress of immense wealth is not a problem I will have to deal with, all stresses can be relative...
Creating structure, daily schedules and intentional sidelining are great strategies that help prevent the the mental stress of business and emotional overload. At the end of the day I flick the switch and leave work at work, to be more present in my life and be able to devote plenty of time to the most important things to me.

But that is what allows Mark to relax and open up his subconscious to release these 'off the cuff' gems of wisdom.
You are accessing his many years of accumulated wisdom in a short punchy delivery!

Sometimes the more you have the more you worry. If you are solely motivated by money, you are never going to be 'just happy', whatever the amount is. You will always want more, because that is what drives you.
MB motivates me to work smarter, that is what makes me happy. I know how much I need to live a comfortable (my level of comfort) life if I live to be 100. If I can maintain that, I have some peace of mind which in turn brings a sense of happiness to a degree but I am hesitant to say financial security equates to happiness. It is hard work to get there and it's what you do to maintain it, in order to stay there. The comfort levels you require now, however, may change over the years but you deal with that when and if it ever comes up - not now, appreciate what you have now, this is what you worked for.

The content seriously doesn't match the title... I would have watched anyway because honestly - strategies for coping with the constant stress of running your own business - is way more useful to me at the moment. Running a "successful" fast growing company is ridiculously stressful and no one understands this except for the guy responsible for it all. I doubt putting my stresses in an imaginary box will work - but hey - i'll give that a crack :)

How many of the people who listen to this BS are actually rich? This is just "inspiration porn" for poor people who don't have skills and dream of making millions. Reality is, becoming a multimillionaire is a pipe dream for most people and is dependent mainly on luck (especially who you know and exclusive connections & contacts). The proven path to moderate wealth (i.e. net worth of $2M by the age of 50) is to simply work hard, save and invest over a lifetime. And avoid getting married, having children or doing anything financially or legally risky. That's all.
