MSU-IIT has a great choral ensemble. Their rendition of "Tinig ng Lupa" won 1st prize at the Nat'l Choral Competion in 1977. We won the all-male high school category on the same day and at the same venue. The songs had to be sung 2X; the 2nd rendition had choreography. We were all at awe when we heard the MSU choir. Their performance was both musically and visually astounding. The audience was chanting "MSU! MSU!" when Imee Marcos was about to announce the 1st prize for the collegiate division.
Thank you sir for dropping by. I see you're an avid fan of ethno-music. Hope you could drop by at our school one time. It will be an honor knowing you. Greetings from all of us here at Octava of MSU-IIT :)
Actually, mamayug akun is just a part of the songs of the tri-people of mindanao - the ethnic suite portion of the cultural show. Yes, the dress is Higaunon and why is this so? Because prior to this song are mostly Higaunon songs.
Pardon us if you were a little bit confused with the costume used. They don't have much time to change costumes from time to time. The ethnic songs are all sung simultaneously. One song to the other. Don't worry we understand your reaction. It is ok for you, yourself, were not there to witness the event. c",b
Is this the authentic version of this song? I normally hear this song rendered at a much faster tempo with very heavy thumping. I really love this rendition of the song.
I think their is something wrong with the costume, as what I have observed on the female choir movements, they are portraying one of the Moro tribe dance, but their costume is most likely to Lumad Tribe of mindanao specially the Head dress
I miss the 8va... this made me smile... i can still remember the lyrics. Octava batch 1985-88
Its my first time to see this kind of dance ... i like it!
