Thanks for featuring XG and their brand which is XPOP. My two cents in is that Global pop groups have a defined genre, a few at most which they blend into their sound, identity and music. XPOP on the other hand is a singleton lane occupied by a 1of 1 group at the moment which is XG. The thing that differentiates XG and their brand of XPOP is that it is "genre bending", i have never seen a group in music which can easily transcend several pop genres and pull them off so well like XG. Among the genres in pop they represent includes Mainstream POP, RNB, RAP and HIP HOP, BALLAD, UK GARAGE, CONTEMPORARY, GIRL CRUSH and perhaps more in the works. BUT what truly makes XG STAND OUT is this inexplicable passion and commitment to whatever genre they try to represent. OF COURSE WHAT MAKES THEM X is that XTRAORDINARY AMALGAMATION OF SKILLS THAT THE LADIES OF XG POSSESS.
I always thought the xpop meant not being defined by one place(jpop) or genre. By doing that XG can make any type of music. They sing in English for the biggest reach around the globe. Global group in this context is where they want the music to reach not where the members are from. The other groups you mentioned are multinational who want a global reach.
@@scootdog1329 Correct, but a lot of the groups are bending and dipping into multiple genres… I think it’s more of a new definition that more people might tag along for.
My personal opinion on xpop is it’s mostly aspirational at this point. I think Simon’s goals are a bit larger than just music for the term. I think eventually he wants to change the actual industry promotional landscape and offer more of a platform for groups like xg that get hated on for global sensibilities in the typical music shows big 3 landscape. I believe he has much bigger ideas associated with the terminology but is def not there yet. For this reason I loathe the constant lecturing of reactors by fans about what xg is or isn’t. ATP they are no different then Gidle to me in terms of the staples of separation they always point to as different.
@@danitydon6976 Awww thank you!!! I had to include Eden’s crush because I was obsessed with them, but also I think there’s more groups that I could’ve covered that had their hand in the pop world but at the time it was harder to sell. But yes pop is POP and we need to stop putting limitations on what is possible ❤️🙌🏾🥰
Please watch Documentary Series “Xtra Xtra”. SIMON, JAKOPS the Executive Producer explains his decision to create the new genre for his full Japanese Girl Group. XG is an elite Xpop Group. They sing in ENGLISH had have mentioned many WESTERN Artists they look up to. I listen to QPop 🇰🇿, Ppop 🇵🇭, Jpop 🇯🇵 and Mpop 🇲🇾 Groups. I loved ABBA ..I traveled to MEXICO 🇲🇽 when I was young and heard their two songs in SPANISH and it sounds STUNNING.
@@stephanieallangarman5598 I definitely will look at this documentary and I listen to every type of pop and love everything. And yes traveling to Mexico to see ABBA 🙌🏾
As an xg fan, i think the xpop thing is really just marketing and an attempt to keep themselves from being forced into the jpop/kpop box. Whether its successful is debatable (cuz racism/stereotyping tbh) but you know. Its an attempt. XD
Watch the DOCUMENTARY SERIES “XTRA XTRA” because their EXECUTIVE PRODUCER, Simon explains it correctly. You’re assuming things because they are JAPANESE.
I really enjoyed this video. It was very informative and non bias. I had just got done watching another video and it annoyed me to no end. Katseye was mentioned in that video, they are mentioned in several different videos from that particular channel that were just non informative and just ugly. I’m a fan of Katseye and i’m tired of people who always want to say that they’re not a global group but a kpop group. And they say this because of their promotions. A majority of their promo has been in America and because they have members from different places they’re going to promote in those spaces also. I don’t know, it just bothers me. I would love to hear your thoughts on that.
Awww I’m glad you liked my video, I appreciate your insight. Katseye is definitely an American based, K-pop trained, global pop group. Not only are multinational, but they are dipping into everyone’s cultures and I feel they will do that with languages/style of music as well.
