If you’re hiking, stay on trails. If you go off-trail, the odds you’ll encounter one is much higher. I’d like to see what the situations of the bites were. A good portion of them were probably not accidental, the person didn’t do the right thing, didn’t walk away. Once I educated myself about these creatures, I stopped being concerned.
