I stayed there way back in may, 1977. I was just about to graduate from 8th grade a month later. Our Church planned a group trip and they made enough money to throw off a raffle. My father bought a book of raffle tickets and he won. My father couldnt go so i went with my mother. There were about 35 of us. I was the only kid, going on 14 years old. Everyone else were adults ranging from 35 to 60's. But i had a blast. Went on the outrigger canoe riding the waves. We were there for 2 weeks. It looks like the property changed a bit but the tower is the same as it was 45 years ago. Our hotel tour director her name was Laylani... not sure if im spelling that correctly. She was so nice. Looking at this video brings back some bittersweet memories. My mom is now in her late 70's and living in a nursing home with full dementia and my father has since passed on. When i was collecting her stuff a few months ago when she went to the nursing home, i found 2 photo albums of that trip. I still have the picture of the girl who put the lei around my neck when we got off the plane. She looked like she was in her late teens, and so beautiful but i was so tired from that 12 hour trip from NY i barely paid her any attention. I went back to Hawaii about 25 years ago with a woman i had been dating at the time but we went to Kauai and Maui. Im since then been married and my wife has been bugging me for years to take her to Hawaii... and of course, Italy. When we come we will definitely come to Hilton Hawaiian Village. You know how some songs you hear from the past remind you of a specific time or place?! I remember when i was walking around outside the hotel and music was playing over the hotel speakers... ."southern nights" By Glen Campbell came on. EVERYTIME I hear that song on 70's on 7 siriusxm it reminds me of walking outside the hotel. Im pushing 60 in less then 2 years, i need to get back there again. Good memories!!
Hi Michael thank you very much for watching. This is one of the reasons why I love uploading travel videos because it might be able to connect with someone. Your story is beautiful especially you still remember the first time you visited the island years back. Yes definitely bring your wife to Hawaii, she will love it there. Hilton Hawaiian Village is the best to stay in Oahu. When you visit the HHV again it will bring you back a lot of memories. There are some changes to the resort and new towers from the time you first visit but it is still the same aloha vibe. I have other videos about Hawaii and do not forget to subscribe so you will be updated.
Going back to the lagoon tower in June 2024. Been staying at Hilton Grand vacations club Hokulani lately but going to bring the whole family this time and need the bigger room.
Wow. I had no idea it was this beautiful 🥰! Staying for a few days in Lagoon Tower in March 🌸 can’t wait! I’ve been an owner since 07 and I can’t believe I’m barely making it out to Hawaii 🤦🏻♀️. Ive been missing out😩!
Hi liz thank you for watching. Yes HHV is really beautiful and the best place to stay in Oahu. I know you will have a great time in Hawaii. I have a lot of videos about Oahu, if you like some recommendations. Do not forget to subscribe, I really appreciate it. Thank you very much 🙏.
Thank you very much for watching and yes do not forget to take a photo of yourself in front of the sign 😆. I hope you subscribed to my channel I am uploading new content every friday.
this might be the most informative video on this resort so thanks! very well done, i set it to 1.5 playback speed and it was perfect... does anyone know if there is a map of the Hilton Hawaiian Village itself, that could be useful for locating the towers, pools, and restaurants. Thanks.
thank you very much for watching my video. Regarding your question, yes there is a map online but I am not sure now if there is a printed copy. You can ask when you get to the village. Regarding the pool use yes you can use all the pools except Ali'i pool it is exclusive to Ali'i tower guests if I am not mistaken. I hope you subscribe to my channel, thanks.
Thanks for watching Ami. Enjoy your vacation. I was told Oahu Hyatt is not that good compared to Grand Hyatt in Kauai and Hyatt Regency in Maui. I got both videos of both resorts.
Thanks for watching. Lagoon tower is a great place to stay especially if you have a a lagoon view suite. Do not forget to subscribe I really appreciate it 🙏.
I’m looking to propose to my girlfriend this summer at Hilton Hawaiian village… what’s the best spot for that? Are there any restaurants by the beach? & can a rainbow corner room view the fireworks? Thank you!
Hi thanks for watching. Congratulations, your girlfriend will have a great memory of the proposal. There is not a seat down restaurant near the beach inside HHV only bars. If you are stay at rainbow tower, the best rooms are the beach front rooms, you will unobstructed view of Waikiki beach and the fireworks. If it is marina/beach view then you will have a good view of the fireworks as well. Don’t forget to subscribe to my channel and good luck to your proposal.
It depends on what you prefer. If you want to stay at a new suite then go for the Grand Islander but it is located at the backside of the village not a good view of Waikiki unless your suite is located at the higher floor. The Lagoon tower is facing the lagoon a better view of the lagoon and Waikiki beach but it is older suites. I stayed on both i like Grand Islander as long as you got ocean view suite. Thanks for watching.
@@jeztravel - We have a ocean view facing room at the grand islander. So you would prefer to stay at the grand islander? Also how is the elevator situation at grand islander? I heard the lagoon tower only has 3 elevators.
@Sha1217811 yes I highly recommend staying there. Yes there were times the elevator is full but the wait is not that long though. The most we waited in several occasions was 5 mins.
My family and I stayed here back in 2016 and then again in 2020. I love the grounds and love how it's beach front. Only thing I hate is the food options in the area. The choices are horrible. They really should get rid of all the lousy stores on the courtyard and put better food options on it. The only other flaw are the rooms are really out dated and need a overhaul.
Thank you very much for watching. In my case I would not say horrible but I think you got a point point when it comes to food options. I would love to see an authentic Hawaiian restaurant in the bazaar. But I enjoy the seafood at blue water shrimp. I have other videos about Oahu and do not forget to subscribe it will help my channel grow. Thank you very much.
@@jeztravel yea, Blue Water Shrimp is really good. Maybe horrible is too harsh, but there really aren't that many good choices in the courtyard area, and if someone doesn't have a car (we never rent a car while there) then you have a real problem looking for food options.
Gilligan's Beach Shack is the food truck that's at the end of Duke K Lagoon boardwalk. Restaurants along Kalakaua Ave are within walking distance. Waikiki Gangnam Style was a treat. KCC Farmer's market you need to Uber to but there are always great food stalls. Pig and The Lady is a favorite. They have a restaurant Piggy Smalls is within Uber distance. Ala Moana Center has a pretty reasonable food court. Too bad the pandemic caused the Shirokiya Japan Village Walk to close, that place was great!
Hi clare thanks for watching there is wristband that identity you are staying at HHV but the pools has no gate or anything. Please do not forget to like the video and II will really appreciate if you consider subscribing 🙏.
I don’t think so. A lot of people stay stay here without status. You got a lot of options to choose from and any budget. Even with status since it is a very popular resort, it is not a guarantee you will get an upgrade. If you come during summer, good luck on getting an upgrade even if you are Diamond status like me. Thanks for watching.
Hi alan thank you for watching and your constructive criticism. In my newer videos I was mindful of the background music and tries to make it that it is not louder than my narration.
Thank you very much for watching. August is a good time to visit Hawaii. Unfortunately Luau is never free in Hawaii. You have to book a luau right now because it can fill up easily. I suggest spend a day at Polynesian Village. Your will have a wonderful experience there, especially if it is your first time visit. I have more videos about what to do in Oahu, watch them as well. Do not forget to subscribe I will really appreciate it.
Hi rick the dji app does not say you can’t, but you can’t fly over people that means no flying over the beach area. I flew my drone just over the ocean.
Hi all I can say is that every opinion a person has is based on the time she visited and the expectation she has. Maybe her expectations were not met. I have been to HHV for 6x and it will be the 7th this coming July. Last July we were there and it was very busy and due to Covid there were not a lot of staff so some people were frustrated, I was a little frustrated due to a lot of people on the resort. But overall I still enjoy staying at HHV.
Hi johns thanks for watching. You fly into Daniel K. Inouye International Airport. Do not forget to hit the like and subscribe button, I will really appreciate your help.
Yes uber is available and they also have enterprise rent-a-car inside the resort. So if you to rent for a day you can rent it inside HHV. Thanks for watching and pls subscribe to my channel, I will really appreciate it.

Very average resort to be honest. If you have truly experienced 4-5 stars resorts and you have stayed here you know this is close to mediocre to a good level. Good if you are in a budget with family. Save a few more bucks and stay at the Ritz for a better time!
Thank you very much for watching. You are right the quality of Hilton properties is not at par with a ritz or a four seasons but this is still a good place to stay depending on which tower you are staying. Another advantage of the HHV is walking distance to Waikiki beach.
