Are you aware of some of the huge bounce blinks you can do when you blink into the ground at the top of an incline ? If so can you do some videos on that and or some breakdowns of in-game situational blink theory? Sometimes I find myself in situations where I can't get the momentum going in a tight space or pick the wring options for creating that momentum.

Aye there are a few other blink jumps that weren't quite gone over, for instance timing your blink based off a ledge can be used to launch you much higher into the air, or even for a swift downward momentum that can be just enough to not kill, but gain a quick cover.

Blink is one of the few tools in this game that has a legitimate skill gap on and once you get it, you can break some serious ankles. There's just so much nuance to it (not to mention its on a historical niche subclass) that I feel like it takes a year of use to get the hang of it to where it becomes second nature. I've been off and on with blink since the start of Destiny and whenever I put it back on it takes me a second to rewire my brain to account for the changes in momentum. I think adding a sword is my next step in my blink journey.

It's nice to see a big content creator that understands the value of blink instead of just bashing on it like the others. I have dedicated myself to putting out tons of blink content to try and help change that narrative and make the community see that a good blink player is a hell of a threat. Glad to see that you agree on Astrocyte being mandatory, putting on your helmet is my first and biggest rule of blink but I have sadly interacted with many blink users who don't take that advice. Fantastic video. I've been using blink all year, and I've noticed some other things you've mentioned before.
First, and this is arguably blinks biggest weakness: the hitbox
You ever blink, and from your POV you're perfectly safe, but you still die? That's because blink isn't a "teleport" in the conventional sense. When you blink, you don't magically flash from A to B unlike melee de-sync. When you hit jump the second time, it sort of...splits your hit box. Your hit box will be simultaneously at point A and B for a split second. Essentially, you blink, but you can take damage if they shoot point A. A good way to prevent this is to blink *out* of cover, so that your start point is protected and concealed, and your B point is your destination. A good spot to practice this is the doorway out of the inside spawn on Twilight gap.
Another thing about blink is that you *need* to be observant. Blink is an all or nothing jump type. When you hit that second jump button, it can be very disorienting for your enemies, but ALSO YOU. This takes practice, but you can very easily get turned around when you blink, especially if you blink *into* a closed area. Good chance you're gonna go through a doorway and end up kissing a shipping container placed in the center of it.
Also, blink is risky depending on the map. If you're on twilight gap, cauldron, anomaly. Basically any map with lots of doors and staircases. You should always assume that red you see on the radar is corner camping with a shotgun. Remember: if you blink through a door, you are blinking right next to an enemy that is in cover. A solution I've found to this is to actually backwards blink through doors. That way instead of having to manually whip a 180 turn, you'll already be facing the enemy you're going past. After all, the enemy is expecting you to come through to door either to their front or side. They are most likely not expecting you to bypass their field of view and appear behind them, thus forcing them to spend time turning. Obviously this is diminished with mouse and keyboards flick times, but on console this saves valuable time, and often gets me a W in a 1v1. Hitting a shotgun shot on an enemy fully behind you is not easy no matter what your input method. That confusion is your golden ticket.
And lastly, an important tip. If you're using blink to evade or gain distance, it's important to remember your trajectory. If you blink at the optimal 45 angle, your momentum isn't necessarily kept after the fact. If you blink into the air, you will fall like a sack of potatoes until your feet land. This is a big reason supers can catch up to blink. Sure you're gaining large chunks of distance, but the downtime between blinks is lethal sometimes. Best way to counter? Blink more horizontally if you're fleeing, or use eager edge to gain the momentum back. Double blinking *can* do this, but the second blink usually pulls you down.
    Awesome video!

If they would allow cooldown reset when your feet hit the ground, they could give the exotic the ability to change direction and increased distance. Then you could comfortably use for jump puzzles. This is the main reason I feel most voidlock mains don't use blink. #blinkOrDie

It was probably my best ever trials card - flawless in under 30 minutes without losing our mercy, and I felt so proud to finally do my favourite movement mechanic justice.
If you haven’t used blink before. Do it. Yes it’s weird at first but games should be about fun not ultimate meta at all times, at all costs (and blink remains a hyper-competitive option once you have it mastered). Just honestly try it out people. (Oh and use astroycte, it’s just better)

Hunter main and pve blink enthusiast here. I am one of probably 30 people who unironically use blink as an arcstrider in pve. Learning it proper on Warlock before it came back to Hunter with arc 3.0 was an experience to say the least.
But now, whenever I'm about to blink, I do the very quick math of where I'd end up post-blink. Some jumps are impossible with blink, and will force me to go off it for a bit.
Anyways, great vid. Blink is a very scary tool to both fight and learn. Mastering it can really throw enemies off, by using some of the techniques in the video, for example.
(P.S: Plz add a blink exotic to hunters like astrocyte. Bungo plz)

One very useful technique for PvP is what I call a grenade peak. If you jump past a doorway, throw a grenade through it, and then blink past all without hitting the ground, you essentially get a free grenade on your targets. Basically: jump> throw grenade> blink. Also works great for avoiding shotgun rushers if you just do it backwards. Hold S > jump > throw nade > blink > tap with gun.

ive been using blink for a couple months now and i gotta say that i only use my camera movement if im trying to make a long jump. Mostly during jumping puzzles i find myself using the camera but i mainly play pvp, i know sweatlord pvp man, but i use my keyboard to control my blink so i can focus on the other player while i jump. it took alot of time to get used to but im able to get to places so much faster than my teammates. the momentum thing is a learning curve too but if you can get the timings down it is really good for backing out off battles to regen. ive been doing all of this on normal blink no exotic helmet and i dont think its terrible with its cooldown times. instead of using it to push all of the time use it as a good way to get behind you opponent and shotgun or melee them, i dont really find myself clipping into them ever so that shouldnt be and issue i think. last thing im gonna say is that the helmet is defiantly a great way to learn blink and a better version of it, i just wanted to learn the normal blink so i can have another exotic slot open for my build (triple 100's with a 66, im very proud of it sorry)

I often will punish players in trials by jumping in a weird ass direction when i see some kind of a rocket pointed at me. Also great against snipers, slugs, and fusions, so basically the cream of the crop. It's one of the most versatile tools for movement in the game for getting into and getting away from situations

The "melee while pulling out sword" is an animation glitch issue. If you press melee way too fast it will temporarily cancel the draw animation of the sword and use your melee. Remember that you have roughly 2 seconds before Eager Edge goes away when pulling out your sword, so you can safely wait for the animation to finish before swinging.

As another blink main, if you combo blink into super, use dash blink dash dash blink to gain the most distance with your charges. Another way you can use it is tricky, but if you snipe like I do, it is a great tool to use icarus grip with a short hop left or right, snipe, then blink to get out of a lane. It mostly only works with high impact weapons because you only have the two charges. Another thing to note is hitting an incline while falling gives you a huge boost of momentum which can be translated into blink distance. Last note is a double blink straight up in midair to keep in the air messes up a lot of shotty users.

Astrocyte Verse needs to completely remove the cooldown for blink entirely, on top of it's other perks. That would make it a significantly more viable exotic and one I would certainly main, even over Ophidian Aspects.

    Exotic idea:
    Birth Of The Dire Phoenix
    Warlock Helmet
_”If death can spring from the longest life, then life can spring from the longest death” -Sun Tzu, Probably_
    Exotic Perk:
    Molten Revelation
Press To cast your dawnblade or well of radiance from beyond death, ignoring all revive penalties and timers. While in Dawnblade or a well of radiance, temporarily gain a solar aura that instantly revives dead teammates when you stand near their ghosts, ignoring any respawn timers. Teammates and enemies standing in the aura are also minorly healed.
    Appearance:
This helmet would look like a jumble of metal scraps, with lava shining in between. Surrounding the head would be a wreath of fire. While in a solar super, the player’s wreath would drip lava creating a big molten vail around the player’s head.

    • @EraOfJack
      @EraOfJack 2 года назад

Not sure if you played Destiny 1 at all, but Solar Warlock used to be able to self-revive back then and there is a reason it got removed from the game. It was busted. Not balanced in anyway and other than camping the res with a shotgun headshot and melee combo or using a super yourself in things like Trials, there were no counters. And you're proposing to take that and up it up to 100 making it even more brokenly OP. Not going to happen.

    • @cozysundew33
      @cozysundew33 2 года назад

Make it replace your super fully for the revive. Since this is basically D1 Rez tho that’s still probably not enough to not make it immediate gamebreaking meta unless it makes it a 5 Tier supercharge.

    First XD
I used blink for a weeks of trials early last season and my god was it fun with riis and igneous. Solo trials on cauldron was a great time, made about 2-3 dawnblades waste a full super in ONE play session, plus the most satisfying and engaging ape plays I’ve ever made, coming from someone who typically only uses shotguns when other options won’t work (or work well)

i have mained blink for about 80% of playtime in pvp on warlock and at least for my play style i like to use transversive steps, since blink is momentum based and the faster you are moving can affect the blink movement, you cant double blink unless you have eager proced without astrocyte verse on tho

I've always been intrigued by blink, but never had the patience to learn how to use it well enough. This video is quite helpful and informative though, and explains why I've almost killed myself multiple times by slamming myself into the ground at breakneck speeds.
And as a helpful side note to people (though I've never been able to do it myself) there's a gap of time when you're mid blink in which your hitbox will be where you are. I sort of listened to the vid in the background, so don't know if that was mentioned or not, but feel like people should know it

What i would realy like to see for blink is when you press the button for shatterdive or icarus dash, you would stop for a second in the air and can readjust your ankle and blink in the direction you're looking, because i would like to play it more in PvE but it just sucks that you cant stop mid-air after a long fall

Fun idea: add a function for Astrocyte Verse that if you do not blink after blinking, you go invisible at the end of the animation. It would make blink more wanted.
If that makes it too powerful, uhhhh take away the movement buff, just make blink better 5head lol

It often catches them off-guard. But I'll give the helmet a try the moment I get a better roll 😁

The problem with blink is that Astrocyte is mandatory not optional. It’s not like Stompees that make a hunter jump better. It takes Astro to make blink simply playable.
