- Sandakphu is the highest point of West Bengal India and shares it's border with Iilam district of Nepal.
It is a famous trekking site but not very well known as a riders first choice.
Sandakphu sits at an altitude of 11929 ft above sea level and to reach the top there are some to no roads at all.
the 40 kms journey from Maneybhanjang to Sandakphu is a back breaking, clutch plate frying,off road ride with hair pin bends some of which are inclined at 45 degrees.
The only vehicle which carries trekkers to and fro are the 4x4 Land Rover wich were left behind by the British.

Went there on my RS200 in June this year...was tough due to lacking low end torque of the bike ....last three kilometres was the toughest...😀
Adil Ahmed yes the NS 200 was struggling as well but the 220 managed the climb and it was easy peasy for the Duke 390

Yes bike rentals are available from NJP google it you will find a whole lot of rental services.
Can a 150cc or 200cc bike survive in this extreme off road??
I'm afraid bikes are not allowed anymore on this route by the government.

Aniruddha Mukhopadhyay no we went from Asansol it was 5 day trip costing 7000 on average per person including everything

Yes cars do go on that road we started from Asansol uptil Sadakphu top.

Hi bro, planning for this trip in 2018. I own a 2017 Gixxer SF and I would be carrying a pillion with me. Do you think with the power and torque figure of my bike, it'll be able to carry two people till Sandakphu?
Tanumay Naskar no bro the 150 cc will be struggling to carry your weight alone and even if it does I would suggest you go without a pillion as your pillion will have to walk on this highly elavated terrain and it is difficult to even walk a 100 meters in such conditions...

Down hill was easier compared to uphill.
It was almost sunset so we did not record much.
