I did this mod to my royal. I would say that if you are wanting to do this it means you have committed to changing the bike overall. Currently, my bike is running a tad rich so I am going to have to address this soon. However, my intent is to change the whole bike to look nothing like stock and never plan to go back. Something to keep in mind if you choose to do this. Also if you just remove the rear wheel everything does slip out the back. You did great.
Absolutely! No turning back!
This is brilliant dude. Would down watching this, was great to meet and ride today man.
Thanks, Jacob! It was great meeting you too and yeah that was a fantastic ride! I am still a bit shaking
Crank air filter must place upwards. Otherwise oil from engine will clog that filter soon. Great job 🔥
Good point! Need to improve that!
Your presentation and comprehensive explanation skills are refreshing. Thanks for sharing the highs AND the lows and including the emotional impact both had on you. We all can connect with the vulnerable honesty you so naturally express. Well done.
Thanks, Charles! I appreciate the nice words. Such support helps me to keep going with this vlog.
I talked to mk designs and the wingman panel bags they did with trip machine would work if you wanted to keep the panel bags I was going back and forth pro's abd cons of each
Nice, thank you! No having those side bags is the biggest downside for me of the delete.
Interesting and involved modification. Thank you for sharing with us. Good job.
Thank you very much!
Can I know how you fit the key under the seat
Thank you for sharing. Love the honesty in all your vids. Please remind me not to do this 😂
Any time!
Hi Max, I have a question about your tidy tail light in this video. I want to buy the tail light package from Bonvent. I like it has a cover to the frame but I don't like the way it mounts the brake light. There is a gap between the brake light and the cover. I think it makes the tail looks too long. When I saw your video, your tail light seems attached closely to the Bonvent cover. How did you do that? 😅
Would you share what brands you used on tail light, license plate holder, and the rear mudguard? Did you modify the Bonvent cover to fit it? Much appreciate ❤
BTW, the below channel is very informative. For the filter upside down mistake you made, it's mentioned at around 7 minute.

Hello! Yes, I am more than happy to share everything! If you are in London, let's meet and I will show you. If not - here is what I have - I have a bonvent light and number plate bracket and I have a sold out mud guard. that's it. I mounted it together with no modification. Find me on instagram and I will send you close up pictures
Thank you very much! Yes, that video is very helpful, but I still managed to make a mistake!!!
@@thesundayrides Thanks Max, unfortunately I am in Sydney. Will find you in IG. 😉
Very well shot and explained!
Thank you for all the generous information.
The 650 looks neat and amazing!
Would love to do the mod on my remapped gt650, but I’m certain I’ll have to have very short filter maintenance.
Amazing content!
Thank you very much! How is your remapped gt650 running?
Max, I love the flat tracker handlebars and I'm thinking of this mod for my interceptor. Did you have to drill the handlebars or did the stock switches fit without drilling? Cheers
Hi Sean! Flat tracker are absolutely fantastic for this bike. Mine are from Baak. Yes, I had to drill the holes, but that's not difficult. You will also need longer clutch and throttle cables.
Thanks for doing this. Now I know to never do this modification. Everyone has their own opinion but mine is that this is a lot of work and expense and headache to achieve something that to me looks no better than stock. Not saying it looks bad. It doesn't. But to me stock looks just as good.
You are welcome. The point of this video was to provide people with a few insights about this job. It is much more involved than it looks.
Good job!
Is it possible to remove the air box and keep the original lateral tapes?
Hello! Thanks! Sorry, what do you mean - what are the lateral tapes?
@@thesundayrides I think @supergasgas100 meant if it's possible to use the metal covers that come with the original airbox, although my guess is that it isn't possible, even if I don't even own that bike.
Great looking modification.
I have considered this one myself but think it may be a little beyond my patience level.
What did you decide to do with the tools and bag ?
Bike looks so good now Max 👌
Thanks! I know, I was hesitating for a long time and if I knew how difficult it would be, I would never do it. I haven’t found a solution unfortunately yet. I might just attach one back to the half panel on one side.
@@thesundayrides Seems like a reasonable choice.
Bro I have an interceptor 650 but cannot buy the exhaust for it can you help me???😢

What are the main advantages of removing the airbox? Are there any disadvantages?
There are a bunch of very good videos made by true professionals. those who know their shit from personal experience. I am not one of them. I can't answer your question unfortunately. I made it only because I like how the bike looks with the pod filters, but like i said in the video - I did feel that the bike runs better than it was. may be it is a self motivation, but who cares?! it did the trick for me.
the disadvantages are: compromise on the water protection, can't fit the side bags, wiring is exposed.
I like the seat that is to your bike. Can you please let me know from where did you get it?
Hi! Thanks! Sure, here is it: k-speed.com/en-gb/collections/seats/products/k-speed-gt57
How much weight saved?
Just a little, may be a killo.
Hi, what did you do with the battery box in the end? Thanks Wayne.
Hi Wayne! After a while, after I bolted it all together the battery seem to hold on in place well. At least after a few months it is still there and doesn't look like it is going somewhere. I wanted to replace the battery with the Lithium one, with a smaller size, there are more options where to fix it. But haven't done it yet.
Wild ride - figuratively and literally! Love it Max 😎
Thank you brother!
This mod is not worth it in any way; on a fuel-injected motorcycle, there is no performance gain deleting the airbox, on the contrary, you lose performance by losing sensors and adjustment capabilities. Not to mention how those filters will get dirty or the issues with rain… but that being said, your videos are very instructive, and you explain reality well.
Thank you! I know it is controversial, but.. it looks and sounds so good. If I was mainly riding in the rain, i would not do it, but I am a "fair" weather rider. Also, I've seen so many bikes with the airbox delete kit this year at a bike show, that I could not resist the temptation!
@@thesundayrides if you are happy this is what it counts. See, I'm land rovers owner since 40 years ago, and probably are the most problematic car you can own, but it put me a smile in the face when I drive it so all ok !
hahaha that's a fantastic example! Cheers, buddy!
Use sandwich bags for your nuts and bolts, and label them with a marker. I made the same mistake on my VRod. What was supposed to be a day job took 2 days. Never again! Very nice bike. Royal and BSA are nice bikes.
Thanks, Steven! I have to remember this! Every time I make this amateur mistake and rely on my shitty memory :)
Nice looking mod, good job!
Thank you very much! Cheers!
where I get handlebar man?
That's from BAAK - Flat Tracker bars.
100% Feeling your anxiety and subsequent relief! I’m so glad it worked out in the end!!
Thank you! It wasn't an easy mod for me.
Did anyone notice the new pin striping! Looks great! Great Video!!
Hahaha someone vandalised my bike with crayons 😂
Why mess with the airbox?? So you are an air flow genious.
Why did you watch it in the first place?
Just why
looks!
@@thesundayrides factory one looks better
@@SouravAcharya9444 to me this one looks way better, even if I doubt I will end up doing. it looks great
