Thanks so much for making this video. I just finished replacing the screen on a C720 that my lil cousin busted. I used a credit card to help pop the clips around the screen bezel. Bottom part of the screen bezel took a bit of wiggling and pivoting, but not bad. The pin connector was a breeze. Thanks again! Cheers!
Just purchased the screen on Amazon after viewing your tutorial. You couldn't have made it look easier! I went ahead and made sure I could get the frame off and get to the screen and it was a cinch following your direction. I will rate you on Amazon once new screen is on the laptop.

So wait...I just bought my Bezel and new screen and y'all gave me the tools (thanks) but I haven't used my laptop for days and when I open it, it still seems to be "on" ; it has not been charged for days. Has not been used for 8 days. The battery cannot be removed...what should I do? Thanks @ScreenSurgeons
*Warning:* the bezel needs to be pushed *inward* toward the screen center during removal, not "out" as is stated @1:58. Otherwise those snapping sounds called out @2:00 may be of the shell/bezel lock tabs being ripped from their respective mounts. IOW the fingers in the bezel point away from the screen center and the mating fingers in the shell point inward. The far, far simpler procedure is to insert a dulled single edge razor blade (or ideally a dulled xacto #17 blade) into the bezel shell seam. With the screen facing you, pull up on the blade toward you. This will push the bezel inward while separating it from the shell. If you use your fingernails to lift up on the interior of the bezel perimeter, you'll be fighting yourself by pushing the mating fingers tighter together. Also I don't believe the screen bezel was designed for removal while the upper shell is attached to the base. It is possible to do with some effort as seen here. However when attempting to free the bezel hinge covers, the lower portion of the bezel is restricted by the lower base and can't travel in the direction needed to unlock the hinge cover fingers. Given this, the best approach is to place the c720 partially closed on its side and work the hinge cover fingers while opening and closing the c720 slightly to gain top/bottom clearance for movement of the bezel/hinge cover.
Thank you so much! I tried everything. Was gonna replace screen because it was black and not working. Took off bezel removed 4 screws ,leaned the screen fwd and bam it had come partially unplugged. Pluged it up taped the connector and viola, working perfectly.

I was wondering if an LCD panel from an Acer c720 would fit in a Acer aspire one cloudbook 11. I compared the 2 and they both side mount, have the 30 pin connector and are the same size. I bought an Aspire cloudbook 11 on ebay today with a broken screen for 27 bucks and I already own a c720. I was hoping to be able to put the c720 screen into the aspire one cloudbook. I want a cheap, reliable, linux machine and while I have had linux on the chromebook it is a damn hassle getting everything working.

I really like my Acer C720. It has recently started acting up. The screen goes wacky. When this happens I can still hear the sound, and it is still on a website. If I tilt the screen a little forward the picture usually comes back on. I don't know if the problem is in the screen itself, or the wiring or connector for the screen. Any ideas? ScreenSurgeons Ah!..... :D I had some debris in the bottom of my Screen Case, 'cuz the Liquid was rippling by itself, and whenever I moved the lid of my Chromebook C720..... So I found out that: A: Putting a little pressure on the Screen while lifting up the plastic DOESN'T hurt the Screen in any way, and: B: That this was EASY, and didn't require ANY tool but my finger..... :) Thanks!..... :D BTW, do you know any place that can refurbish a Dell Inspiron 1420....? 'Cuz I run Peppermint Linux on it, and Kubuntu Linux on it, and whenever I boot into them, past the BIOS, the Screen Light flickers, and it crashes shortly after, on most occasions..... Eeesh..... :( I have Kubuntu on my Chromebook as well, but it would be nice not to lose a backup Laptop..... :D
That bezel extraction "technique" just makes me cringe. The ham fisted approach is way too rough and risks snapping off the retaining fingers. A more cautions approach isn't difficult vs. the reckless procedure demonstrated here. Also don't damage the shell as is being done @3:10 with a phillips point screwdriver. The flutes in the tip make a fine cutting edge and have visibly scratched the shell along the seam. I'd also recommend using finger cots or tweezers when lifting tape adhesive @6:50. Doing so avoids contaminating the adhesive with skin oils such that most of the tack is retained.

The Acer 720 Chromebook was a big disappointment. Google promised people that various Chromebooks would later to able to use Google apps. Empty promises. This is why I'm resisting buying another Chromebook until my 720 dies. Then I'll take it to the shooting range and blow holes in it. And Google support sucks!

Took less than 15 minutes.

My Acer C720 has a smaller bezel. The plastic frame is rigid and narrow, so it would not be flexible like the one he removes. Any help on that?

Just get a small precision head set. Almost every laptop style computer uses Phillips heads. Magnetic tips make the job much much easier too.

I cringe when I see people using Phillips screwdrivers (like a ph0 ) on JIS screws. Really recommend using plastic tools whenever possible.
