I bought one for the same reason. To learn how to play like Grace Vanderwaal (and Tyler Joseph too but eh) but I just can't do it. It's impossible. No matter how hard I try, my fingers just keep locking and it's not going the way I want it to at all.
I bought a ukulele last week so I can be inspired by Grace. She is so awesome! Having a great time breaking in my strings, ie tuning every 5 seconds. but no worries I'm hanging in there.

The uke has been the easiest instrument for me to learn, so if you want something that's easy and fun, go with the ukulele for sure.

I dont agree with this. She doesnt have good tutorials. She can sing very well. But her uke playing is far from unique
@ebo ny and @Liam : Her singing talent is awesome and it's also difficult to combine singing and playing the ukelele, you should know that. And she does very well.
But Grace VanderWaal's talent is not at all limited to performing live in an incredible way, songwriting, singing great and playing ukulele or guitar or drums, as she also fluently plays piano and has got the talent of acting, too. She has mentioned about playing saxophone "a bit", too. Anyways, she definitely will broaden her set of instruments in the future even more.

I love mine. Get one that usu sells for about $99 and search for it till you find it for $49 or $59. I got a very nice one for $59 on ebay free ship. These are real instruments not toys so will be playable. Basically they will hold a tune. That matters. Good luck! Sooooo Fun!

Why i really like Grace soooo much.

To correct a SMALL mistake, for "C" It is the third fret, 1st string (The string furthest from her), ring finger. You read it from bottom to top whilst looking down upon the ukulele.
For "F" it is the second fret, 4th string,(The string closest to her), middle finger. and first fret 2nd string, pointer finger.
She got "Am" correct.
And "G" is third fret, 2nd string, ring finger. Second fret, 1st string, middle finger. And finally Second fret 3rd string, pointer finger.
I also noticed that she is using her thumb to strum, when I first started out, this is how I strummed as well.
Over time I noticed my finger would be red, what I'm saying is it is harder on your fingers to use the thumb.
For an easier and more efficient/ louder sound take your pointer finger and your thumb and put them flat together. The other three fingers will just go in place while you're strumming. Whatever feels comfortable.
When you are strumming, make sure the strings are not hitting your skin, they should be hitting the flat part of your nail.
Take the nail of your pointer finger and strum down.
Take the nail of your thumb, and strum up. :)
No hate on Grace, but if you want to know the ukulele correctly, this is how. She was reading the strings backwards.
sadly, i don't have nails because i bite my fingers a lot, but incase people do too, they could try their index finger. over time, they'll get used to it

it’s actually pretty simple, there are no difficult chords and the strumming pattern is not that hard so yeah

I've looked into some of the songs she used for agt, the chords aren't that hard but she does make some good songs with a few simple chords

you have to hold down tight enough
Ok I know this comment is old, but if your still struggling with G chord don’t be mad! She’s probably been playing much longer than you. You just need to play it very slowly and practice every day and eventually you will be able to speed up a little
