This fish is also called hound fish or from Sweden we call them horngädda and they are here with the mackerel during summer time and the hound fish is regarded as a pest as it takes the bate from the mackerel. A good way to catch hound fish is to use silver spoons that look like bait fish or use a free-line float with fresh/frozen sardines.
And in greece we call it
In Costa Rica these grow very large! They make the best ceviche! Awesome in tacos as well!

Awesome! I love to catch these (we call the big ones houndfish) in the Palm Beach Inlet here in South Florida. As a kid I'd snag mullet or occasionally needlefish and let them swim for tarpon, jack and snook like you did. My wife and I did two weeks in Thailand last year and I didn't fish once, regret not having at least one pic from there. To keep her happy we're doing a cruise to Greece in August and definitely taking a rod (Stradic 4000 spinner and 7' three piece) and a few lures. She won't accompany me to Brazil or Colombia or Panama on fishing trips but dammit, I'm wetting a line anywhere we go from now on and I always search out tackle shops to add different lures to the collection. Brazil Christmas was fun, got a 16# peacock bass and doing Colombia in March to get a 20. Really enjoyed this, thank you.

it should handle most fish like barracuda, seabass buy if you run into something big most likely you will have a problem... its like golf you can't do it all with one club

I Live in ocean city md , We see these Needlefish in the summer months an they get big 4 to 5 feet long big around as a coffee cup , Snagging them is the only way we Catch them , They eat a lot of peanut bunker an show up 1000s
I just Googled to see about the fish you caught. Maybe you call them needle fish in Greece but actually it is a Longtom. I have caught these fish before but nowhere as big as the one you caught. Good catch

Nice video mate. I like your editing. I also caught one of these monsters from shore once. I casted live bait with casting floater with 24inch wire leader to the hook. Got smashed in 10 mins by one of these giant needles.

Go to Bora Bora. They have a lot of them. A.k.a. it was from Wasabi productions BTW wasabi productions was in Bora-Bora and then he touched some. He touched about 4 needle fish. And there was a bout 100 needlefish surrounding them him and his girlfriend

Вряд ли саргана имеет смысл ловить на отвесные блесна (пилькер), а тем более джиговать. Это рыба пелагическая, и у ней нет интересов у дна. Сарган атакует малек на поверхности большими стаями на очень высокой скорости. Хорошо ловится на ярусную снасть увешанную или просто серебрянными полированными крючками или (чаще всего) каждый крючек оснащен белым или красным кембриком, изоляцией или жилой. Миграция этой рыбы позволяет ловить ее целеноправленно и весьма успешно. Вкус..., на любителя, или по-другому -- привыкнешь, станет любимым кулинарным явством. Впервый раз пугает ярко зеленной кровью и абсолютно зеленными хребтом и костями.На Черном море его полно, но ловят его единицы, предпочитая более легкую в добыче рыбу. Народ ленив и прекраснодушен. Легко обидчив, но дружбу ценит.
