Welcome Winston! 😄 I'm sure he is going to love his new lady friends! Careful he doesn't get any ideas about trying to get in with them early, I've heard stories of males determined to break into female's enclosures haha!
Be careful. I got a new guinea pig (Snowflake, a lovely white Abyssinian) and seperated him in a large cage, just like yours. The barrier was the same height, but after leaving the guineas one hour, I came back to find my new guinea over with the others! He had jumped a 300mm barrier! Worse was to follow because I had been told that the guinea was a female and was only seperating them as a precaution in case of any infection. Imagine the shock I got a few months later to find a new baby in the cage. A few more followed and I had suddenly become a breeder! I kept the females and rehomed the males and things settled down again, but this story has a sad ending. Snowflake went off his food and I took him to the vet who had no idea what was wrong. Poor Snowflake died that night and I was heartbroken, the herd has not been the same since either. Snowflake has gone but he left several descendants to carry on afterwards and that is the one consolation. I hope Winston has a long and happy life.
