- Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney offered additional details about the investigation that led to a suspect's arrest Friday morning in the Gilgo Beach serial killings. Following his news conference, "48 Hours" correspondent Erin Moriarty joined CBS News to talk about the case.

It is narrated by the person closest to the killer, often the wife.
What you see happens with serial psychos is that they choose a female partner--a wife who has the type of personality that gives the psycho more power & control. These women often live in total denial of all the flaming red flags they see their husband exhibiting. It's beyond bizarre.
Either because these females are fearful of this man they married or they choose to live in denial & ignorance, more often than not, these wives only learn of their husbands horrific serial rapes/killings when decades have gone by and cops knock on the door one day.
There have been a few women who even with all the evidence they see in court, even though the monster they married threatened them or raped them or beat them, these women still refuse to accept the fact they married a serial killer.
Thank you for the work you’ve done to get this monster in custody. I hope he never sees the outdoors again.
There is zero chance that these are his only victims, I hope that they are able to find who was responsible for the other bodies, and figure out who else he killed.

They said he might be involved with some murders in NJ where some bodies were found in similar conditions as the Gilgo Beach victims alongside the Atlantic City Causeway....it's only about 175 miles from Massapequa Park...

This guy is very impressive. He's doing all this by memory with very little notes other then a few bullet points. This team was very professional and the other team was very criminal. Good job coppers. This is a great group of professional cops all of them thank you.

The new Team is great. nothing was done during the Ex chief of Police James Burke rein, and it was only after James Burke went to jail, that this was possible. New people in, Fbi was invited, ( previously fbi was blocked by James Burke) .
there was a bunch of corruption apparently that hindered the progress of the case. one of the top guys even got arrested for some stuff. so i wouldn't say they're the best, but at least it finally got solved
This guy is EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. He should NOT be giving away every freaking DETAIL LIKE THAT to the PUBLIC. It's UNNECESSARY and DANGEROUS to the Prosecutions case.

Yes...he needed notes and could have left out some of the details to spare the families. (Omit needless words...) It's all important information, but way too much info for this "briefing"...(do the families need to hear about the bindings their girls suffered?) I know I kept asking why does he keep going?
He is a monster 👹. Describing him as a demon is correct . To call the families of your victims and mentally torture them with details about their loved ones death is horrible . So scary he lived a double life . They hide in plain sight and it’s terrifying .

@@AMunoz-rh9cz This is very much true. The desolate land near the Calder Oil Fields in Texas was a burial ground used by (it seems) multiple killers over multiple decades

The whole case was botched from day one, and the Suffolk DA and PD are/were totally corrupt. It's no secret.

The Suffolk County Vice Squad has to have all their ducks in a row with this case....it's too important for then to blunder. They have to possess evidence to convict.

Remember folks, the first body appeared in 1996. This didn’t start in 2010. Is it coincidence that more than one killer was using the same dumping ground? Could be, but I doubt it. One of those victims was a female toddler.
The suspect fits the profile they came up with so his arrest does make sense.

I can only imagine what they will find from items taken from the home and office. Im glad they also seized his truck in another state. They did great work with the task force and im am sure it saved other womens lives. A woman earlier this month made a police report about him walking out of the woods as she was biking, asking her for the time.

Mitochondrial DNA is less reliable than nuclear DNA not because it’s not a full “match” or a full “profile” but because siblings will have more similar mitochondrial dna than nuclear dna. Mitochondrial DNA creates mitochondria, which creates energy for cells. It’s important because mtDNA can be evaluated when nuclear DNA can’t be extracted. So the mtDNA of the suspect MATCHES the mtDNA in the evidence. Which means it’s most likely from that person. If that person has siblings, then there would need to be a comparison of the sibling/family mtDNA
