Review of Fishing and Driving a Sea-Doo Fish Pro!

  • I went fishing and exploring features on a new Sea-Doo Fish Pro. Wow! I was scared of its 155 HP at first, starting with no personal watercraft experience. I was initially surprised they let me take it out on my own, until I realized how easy it was to operate. "Exhilarating" is the best word I can use to describe it. I was shocked at how well equipped it was for fishing.

Great video John! Has it all- fishing in Peconic Bay LI, passing US Coast Guard Cutters, and enjoying a Sea-Doo Fish Pro! I grew up there in Southold NY fishing with Dad, then went across LI Sound to attend Coast Guard Academy in New London CT. Discovered you while shopping online for a Sea Doo Fish Pro to enjoy here in my home of 30 yrs, Raleigh-Durham NC. This is an excellent jet ski fishing overview, with clear insights on Sea Doo Fish Pro features! Thank you and Mike Epstein! I'll share your video with my brothers for warm memories of growing up boating and fishing with our Dad! 👍

    John,
    Great video.
I have been fishing off a 2008 Sea-Doo GTI 155 for about eight years now and love it. Only this year have I gone back to a boat and that's primarily due to young grandkids
Mine is rigged with a cooler rod, holders, rod holders just forward of your legs for trolling, fishfinder GPS and a VHS with 8ft antenna.
I think I have been at 50 miles an hour 4 times in all those years. I fish near shore and it could get real sporty real fast hitting a wave crosswise at that speed.
it is an excellent platform especially if you're migrating from a kayak and want to get further out.
I think you'll find it is cheap to run and very easy to store for those with limited storage capacity. Mine fits in the garage.
It is not perfect because it is a wet ride. It is it doesn't have the storage that a boat has and it is a little bit more athletic ride than a boat.
I know you didn't have the time but it's very relaxing to sit sideways on the seat with your feet on the gunnel just dragging or jigging bait.

Hey John love your videos and glad you got a chance to try out the fish pro! I knew if you had a chance to ride it by yourself that you would change your mind really quick about the whole speed thing. It's crazy how stable they are now and how 55mph feels slow and to do it with one hand goes to show you how confident you were in the ride quality that quickly. Keep the videos coming they're great!

Now, ide take that over a kayak any day!. Far FAR better than a kayak. i mean a kayak your more relax in your recline seating position, and you get quite the exercise paddling or peddling. But for me sea doo is a far better proposition for fishing off shore. It can handle large waves. far easier to climb aboard should you fall off, better storage and location of gear. you can stand up, to me its just better, if a storm comes along you can out run it. AND trailering it is seemingly not so bad. Even for a small vehicles. it just seems safer than a kayak.

I don't see this being any better than an ordinary kayak. The steering is very imprecise, and you need precision positioning over structure among other things. It's also a hazard for dealing with boats. It is essentially retrofitted with fishing add-ons and, you have to reach backwards to get a pole. Save yourself a ton of money and get a kayak with or without a trolling motor. The only real benefit I see is being able to get to your spot a whole lot faster.

And an optional pop-up or place-in rail, for the sides to stand and lean on without falling in. Now if I really want to start dreaming, make it so you can put up a canopy over it and for extra special safety, a port and starboard boom float extension for extreme stabilization and to prevent capsizing should you get caught in a hell scenario and can't ride it out and want to throw out an anchor.

I was impressed that you felt comfortable enough to one hand it while you held the camera and that while you were doing 50 and going over the wake from the big boat that the lens wasn’t spotted with droplets. Nice ride. Think your gps motor could be mounted?

I really don't want a boat and want something that I can put in my garage during cold season, 5 months. neat machine. Dry suit & fish all year. Beach it if you livin beach front, fish the flats with that jet instead of a prop. I guess who gets the record shark from one is next. Wondering about some other shallow waters besides flats? Early thaws for some monster pike in southern bays in the boundary waters. Troll just off the beach for spanish/blues/kings/stripers/red drum.
