Hey Trev, thank you for posting out your latest video. Top notch as always and good to see the new camera going through its paces. What bootiful views 😂! Shame about the weather but you had some good company - not always easy being the leader when the weathers crap, but you did a great job. And look on the positive, the weather can only get better for the next time👍. Cheers Pete
Cheers Pete. Yea, we all kept in good spirits for the most part. Glad to have got a true Dartmoor experience for a change. Can't have them all in fair weather, I guess! Thanks for watching
The areas you get to camp look so alien and exciting. Where I have to camp it’s trees all over (great for hammocking) but I’d love to camp on a windy mountain sometime to test myself and my gear. Definitely an environment for an msr windboiler style stove!
Especially hard when your in charge, that burden of responsibility is a bugger, 9/10 times everyone is having a blast, I think that was definitely the case again here! Loving watching along 😍 🏕👍 good job Trev, everyone 👏
...we kept are morale high with giggles and banter. Was a tadge a challenge at times thou with the relentless cloud cover/clag. Great way to spend a weekend 🤣😶🌫️
I'd love to come along on one of these trips. I need to do a few things first though like actually become a patron, buy a tent, buy all the camping gear and actually go on my first wild camp... it may take some time.
Nice one trev,on dartmoor myself from Tuesday for three days, still no idea where to yet! Decisions decisions'! Good to see you back,ATB from the isle of wight
Like you that Vik 1 grew on me I really like it the simple no fly setup and always wondered how it did in rain. I got my first real rain storm and the son of a gun held up great, bone dry. 2 zippers on main and more / high pockets would be a nice touch but …
That was a really enjoyable watch. Dartmoor is where you can get four seasons in one day! Bren Tor is my favourate Tor. If you're ever near Exmoor give me a shout. I've been all over there as i live in Ilfracombe and its not to far from home. I also avidly searching for the Exmoor Beast ( and the offspring ) for a few years.
Thanks very much, really glad that you enjoyed it! I havent seen a lot of exmoor, literally just the swcp and dunkerque beacon. I have seen the beast though, twice. Once walking my dog in a local common ground back in my hometown in North Devon, my dog stalked it for a bit. The first time was when we were pulling into a fishing lake near Bideford. It leapt across the road in front of our car. I spent the whole day on tenterhooks 🤣🤣
I would like to do one of these wild camps with you but I'm not patreon, I stayed at foggintor quarry on tuesday night, weather was great. I met novice wild camper there. Good video by the way.
...that caterpillar was huge. The camera doesn't show its true size!!! Never seen one before, but gave us all a little break from the horrendous weather that was trying to drag us all down! Little things 😎👍
This seems like a fun thing hanging out with a youtuber you watch. I wonder with all the rain and the insane wind that I don't see more tarp camping in the UK. Seems to be perfect for such nasty weather. This looked brutally cold and wet. You folks are damn hardy. So sorry for the early exit from the cup....very close.
The obligatory Chris Benton lol, good on him mind and fair play! Glad to see the weather was on form for you 🙌 🌧 The best laid plans out the window hey Trev, sorry for you and the gang 😞 out is out tho 👍🤗❤️
Good test of all the wet weather gear and water proof bits n bobs 🌧 😬 all the people wishing the hot weather would do one....be careful what you wise for! Good for the moors, so definitely pros and cons 🌞 💧 Was this filmed on the GP Trev, again another pro if so, audio-visual bang on 👍 📹
Yea this was the first outing for the gopro. Set to 4k but my laptop struggled like mad. Had to render in 1080 but still good image. And yep the weather was relentless here, but must say my gear held up well, even the Vik 1.
Hi Trev and fellow campers. What a shame about the weather, but at least you’ve made the most of it. I bet it’s easy to get lost if you don’t know the area. Xx
Hi Rachel. Yes, Dartmoor can really get confusing in low visibility. It threw us a little on this adventure, but was a good test of our navigational skills. You should definitely check it out one day if you haven't already. Thanks for watching.
Oh my gosh--that was an awesome clearing! Don’t mean to get all sentimental but please, whatever you do, don’t stop doing these adventures because so far, it’s the only way I can get there and if I do ever get the chance to get there, I’ll be giving you a shout out if that’s okay❤️🤩❤️
The wind was battering you all. Loved the rock formations, they looked ominous in the mist though. A long, tough trek with lots of chatter, good camaraderie. You were an enthusiastic leader . Id need a hot water bottle and copious amounts of sweet coffee. Do you actually sleep? Enjoyable to watch....
Thanks Annie. Was great fun, well, to look back on anyway 🤣. I actually slept surprisingly well on this one, there's something hypnotic about rain on a tent. Thanks for watching!
Hi Trev. Claggy weather again… Can’t beat the army ration packs Trev. Don’t have the powdered energy drinks though,as the contain Aspartame which has been linked to brain cancer. The cakes are generally made of suet, too, hence the weight.
Trev, when you asked what time it was and guessed it was about 5, you was quite accurate, im making the assumption that it was the position of the sun that gave it away lol
I've had one of those Columbia outdry jackets for 3 odd years. When you're not using it, make sure you relax all the cinches on the hem, the hood and the cuffs. The outer membrane has started delaminating on mine at the points I've left it cinched up. It does not like abrasion, it'll take the membrane straight off the material. Happened under my armpits where pack shoulder straps were rubbing mostly. I used a bit of silicone sealant to fix these points, until they've become too big for me to use 100% unbreathable silicone. I don't think it's a bad rain jacket, bit heavy, not the most breathable, did ok on the barbed wire test. It never wetted out like a standard waterproof and breathable jacket. I just don't think it's as long lasting as a standard 2/2.5/3 layer waterproof where you can reactivate/renew the dwr. Once that outer membrane is gone, it's gone.
A lot of food for thought there, cheers. I will keep an eye on it and see how it performs. Must say not too bad this day, and no condensation whixh is rare with my other jackets. Thanks for the feedback
@@SummitOrNothing I came across proper negative there tbh 😂 I would say the main point of it: it's only ever let water in through the 4 big holes in it for your bonce, arms and legs. Zips never leaked, material never leaked. And I've had it in some filthy torrential rain, too. Fire-hose type stuff. In my experience, it ain't letting any water in.
Im 1/3 of the way thru and u keep apologising "Stop".... Surely the patreons have seen a few vids and knew what they were in for lol..... seriously tho i must be mad cos i love them sort of days on the moor, prefer them to being baked alive by the sun ATB im off to enjoy the rest of the vid :)
I know, I know. Good fun was had by all, I think really I'd got everyone's hopes up about fur tor and wasn't confident. That's why I kept apologising. Cheers for watching!
Loved the energy from the guys.....and Chris, must be lovely nattering the day away as you explore the moors 🗺🧭👍
Yea was a good crowd again, and Chris always a good laugh.
I look forward to these every Sunday night.
Cheers Matty. Hope you enjoyed it!
Loved the trip trev! It was awesome fun! It’s great to watch such a fun trip. 😁
Yea, Chris. Really enjoyed it. Maybe not so much at the time but a great one to look back on! Thanks for coming!
@@SummitOrNothing if they are all sunny why do you need a tent?!

A hike and a camp! Yayyyyy❤️ Well you can’t control the weather, now can ya?! 😁 I just love being able to go along with you! Thanks Trevor😍🤩😍
It's my pleasure Mary. Thanks very much for joining us. Really glad that you enjoyed the video.

brilliant as always Trev... the rain is all good! makes you appreciate those camps where its dry that little bit more
True words! Thanks for watching
@@SummitOrNothing you’re welcome 👍🏼

Another great vid Trev. Weather doesn’t matter with good people around
100%; 😎👍
Never a truer word spoken, Paul.... or typed 🤣
I once kept one of those caterpillars in a jar, it stayed in it's cocoon for 3 years before turning into the most beautiful moth.
...that caterpillar was huge. The camera doesn't show its true size!!! Never seen one before, but gave us all a little break from the horrendous weather that was trying to drag us all down!

Shame you didn't get the weather, but it looked like a blast anyway. Thanks for offering this opportunity to your patreons. ❤
Great trip guys. Dartmoor weather at it's best 🤭. Enjoyed the collab' featuring Chris Messner to 😉

Yep the true Dartmoor / SoN experience for sure. Great fun!

Yea it was still good to be out, and had us taking note of the map and compass too. Literally those tors were hidden until we were right in them.
The wetter dartmoor the better 😀with a bit of sunshine 🌞 ofcourse
Yea, we didn't get any sunshine on this one. The weather was relentless, but did make for a memorable experience. Thanks for watching!

No worries, I'll still be uploading these vids! Have slowed down a little this year but hopefully next year I'll be back in full swing.
Hey there! Have you got any expierience w naturhike p-series? Im thinking about 4 person version for my bikepacking trip, 2 person + a dog. Cheers!
Nice vid. What time of year was it? March?
Knew I recognised Dan from somewhere, archery Dan!
Horrible visibility and wind and such and still everyone carried on. Well done.

Typical Dartmoor weather. Before climate change every Dartmoor day seemed to be like that.
