I don't remember much, never had a family. Grew up living on the poor side. Orphan Girl, someone set her free A rough and tumble life I lived up in the hills A place called Black Mountain Orphan Girl works at paper mills. My whole life long I'm waiting for someone. My whole life long I'm waiting to come undone. This Orphan Girl waiting to come undone. I don't remember when the man came riding in. Handsome as a devil Traveling man, beautiful as sin. The ladies buzz like bees, it was quite a sight to see. I couldn't trust him plainly but the Traveling Man set his eyes on me. My whole life long I'm waiting for someone. My whole life long I'm waiting to come undone. This Orphan Girl waiting to come undone. This Traveling Man led me into the sun. He took me to the waters and I never looked back again. No more working at a paper mill No more workhouse women He swept me up and laid me down in a place where I belong. The Traveling Man and the Orphan Girl, Stole away in the space of a day My heart was bursted open. Torn right open. I don't remember when he left, he was just gone. Broke me down to nothing. Orphan Girl had to carry on. A rough and tumble life only had myself to blame. So far from Black Mountain. Orphan Girl lived up to her name. My whole life long I'm waiting for someone. The Orphan Girl begins her life. Walks down a road with no regrets, no ties applied to what she gets (?) The Traveling Man, he disappeared and gave her what she always feared. This Orphan Girl, has finally come undone. Sorry if it's no 100% accurate lol
I'm in love with Barrett I don't know how she was blessed with such an amazing voice and amazing beauty. I don't think a relationship would work though I would ask her to sing everything she says and ware her heathers costume ( also I'm highly unattractive and nine years her junior ( she's 26 right ?) plus we wouldn't have anything in common. She's full of talent and I'm talentless :( I've always wanted to be as talented as her )if I was as talented i wouldn't settle for anyone who wasn't equally as talented in there own respective field.
lightlawiet1 Talent is nothing compared to hard work :) And there's no such thing as "talentless". Everyone has different levels of talent, but if you cultivate even the smallest bit of talent, it can grow to be a redwood.

I LOVE Barrett’s softer voice holy shit it’s gorgeous
it's 2020 and this is still the best version of this song. Barrett performs the character so well. What a beautiful and well-written song.
her voice and the music are achingly beautiful
I bought this music for my voice lesson and my teacher couldn't get over how well written the music and lyrics were! Thank you Chris and Nathan!
+Rachel Beauregard How do you say your last name, just curious.
+Carl Bigsy I think it's like Bow re gaurd

Rebecca Lomboy i think its 'no more workhouse women' instead of ' no more going out swimming'
Aoife K you're probably right. I did it all by ear so I don't actually know what it is. Thanks for the correction. 😂😂
you did a really good job with this! and it’s “No ties that bind to what she gets”
Becca Lomboy It’s actually “he took me to new orleans” :)
Dear Miller and Tysen, this song is absolutely incredible, you should be very very proud.
Wow seriously such a freaking amazing song, wish I could do this as well as she can!!
i've been listening to this song for years, and god it never fails to give me chills
God I’m listening to this song again after 7 years and it still hits the same
God, she's amazing
why does Barrett always wear the same color...I love her but I'm gonna get her a second shirt
she's just a true heather!
@@Elenyiorene WHAT IS YOUR DAMAGE
I really adore this.
This is the literal best
The orphan girl is both Falia Flowers and Abel Magwich while the Travelling Man is both Euron Greyjoy and Compeyson.
wow. just.wow.
Anyone listen to this and wonder just how amazing BWW would be playing Eurydice in Hadestown.

@@jordanduncan9217yeah Idk at first it seemed sweet but then ehm
speechless
I need lyrics so badly
Is this a song from a musical or just a pseudo-folk ballad? This feels like it should be in a narrative musical.
it's just a one-off song, not from any musical :)
Harriet Suspected as much. Thanks.
is this from a show? if so which?
+Eimear Barr No, it's just one of the many amazing songs Chris Miller and Nathan Tysen wrote together.
@@ALu-nq8rfis it not from fugitive songs?
