tbf to Endeavor, when they figured out that Touya's flames were hurting him, he STOPPED trying to train him. He told him that he could have a normal childhood and thought Shoto could carry on with what he wanted in terms of hero work. Touya's obsessive personality made it so he couldn't handle "being replaced" and he lit himself on fire. Not saying Endeavor is 100% innocent, but he didn't intentionally hurt Touya.
Those shuddering breaths are the same kind of emotional impact as that "I'll be there" voice crack in his Rengoku track and I will say that until I die

While I agree that Endeavor really can't be redeemed, you can't say he's not well written. Learning about Endeavor's true reasoning for being insecure and so headstrong in his ways (his father passing) was really needed for his story. It gave us perspective of why he sees weakness as such a bad thing, the one person he looked up to died because he wasn't strong enough and so he pushed his family to the brink, only to unintentionally repeat the cycle and create a monster because he wasn't strong enough emotionally to give his kids the life they deserved. It's tragic.
