Honestly, Orlax is goals. Got revenge, traumatize a kid, bully the same kid years later, got himself a good man, got to travel and had perfect hair. Everyone should strive to be Orlax.
His hair = perfection yeah! Also, he seems to be the onely one in the series who knows when to engage an enemy and when to back off. Check how unwillingly he is to bow to the messiah but does it anyway because he knows she's way out of his league.
Says you. Olrox was one of the more dangerous bosses early in the game. He was the first with two forms. He was also enigmatic, just sitting there at the table, waiting. You could sit across from him, if you wished. He won't attack until you get too close. If Symphony of the Night were ever remade, it would be wise to have dialogue between Alucard and Olrox where he invites Alucard to sit down. If he does, Olrox would then propose an alliance of sorts...which, of course, Alucard would refuse, leading to the fight.
He seems very Human for a Vampire. Getting vengeance for a lost love, Bowing to someone to save himself, wanting to save someone who has his affections, Acting how he wants to.
The direction the show is taking suggests that Olrox may be the avatar of the Aztec God Quetzalcoatl. It remains unclear why he did not take action against Sekhmet much earlier. However, it's probable that Olrox is collaborating with Dracula and Alucard on a long-term plan to confront Sekhmet and her demonic and divine associates and allies.
I think the writers are doing a good job of making the characters more interesting than the original storylines of the games could. I'm liking these series. Thanks for the character synopsis!
Some people wonder why Orlox is so powerful. Well, my theory is that a vampire's strength and power depends not only on age, but also the strength and power of their sire- the vampire who turned them. I mean, if you think about it, most of the common vampires are weak as f***! Probably cuz their sires were weak vampires. I believe Olrox's sire was an incredibly powerful and ancient vampire, otherwise how could he get so powerful at only 259 years old- which, to me, seems relatively young for a vampire. He can go out in the effing sun for f***'s sake, just like Dracula! Plus, I believe what sets apart vampires like Olrox, Dracula and Erszebet, is that maybe they were humans from a magical witch bloodline with inherent magical powers themselves. If so, this could make for a superior breed of vampire. Most other vampires don't display other magical powers apart from shapeshifting into a bat, flight and strength and speed, and this could be the explanation why. Another theory is, and I hope this is the case...Orlox's sire IS DRACULA!!!
While it would be really cool for Olrox to have been turned by Dracula on his travels among humanity, nocturne is set in 1792 over 300 years after his death in 1474, olrox wouldn’t have been born by the time Trevor sypha and alucard killed him
As a Mexican I can tell that Orlox is inspired on the Mayan/Aztec god Quetzalcoatl/ Kukulcán, who was the god of dawn and wisdom, and was portrayed as a Feathered flying Serpent/ Dragon. Maybe he was an old Aztec priest with magical powers
The main cast is still weird for me, they tried to fix annette in the second half but she still needs development. Olrox is cool so far. I wish they did more with juste, the season felt rushed and slow at the same time though.
Olrox killed Julia Belmont not just because she took his lover's life, he was projecting his immense guilt onto her - he was the one who turned his lover into a vampire and subsequently exposed him to the danger that the Belmonts posed to vampires. The Belmonts do their "job" which was to hunt down vampires, Olrox's lover would not have been exposed to them if was still human, Mizrak was correct in stressing that Olrox's lover was basically forced into becoming a vampire because Olrox wanted him to be immortal and live with him forever. It wasn't a matter of human passion but the mistake human selfishness, his lacking respect for his lover at the center of this.
Honestly tomatoe tomahtoe. Thats the same thing to me. It explains why he didnt kill richter. It was just a get back. He knew his role in his boyfriend/husbands death. Like you said, he brought the danger to him because he was maybe a bit selfish. In a reasonable...human...way. But a role regardless. He wasnt like dracula and went scorched earth. He blamed himself. So all he wanted was his enemy. Plus its not like a vampire over centuries didnt hear "you killed x im gonna kill you one day" quite often. And never happened.
I wonder if Olrox was a former member of Dracula’s court but left and Alucard will recognize or comment on him in Season 2 of Nocturne. Just a thought.
I don't think so. Olrox had mentioned that he had been hunted by vampire hunters for 250 years. Which would put that to where he had been hunted since the 1500's. If that's how long he was a vampire then he wouldn't of been born by the time the first series takes place (1470's).
@@acgearsandarms1343Also beyond him not being born yet I think because of his history as an Aztec I think he isn't very likely to be on Dracula's side. Seeing that he probably wouldn't like people being eradicated or enslaved. I feel he was against Erzabeth for the same reason.

Olrox really is such a fascinating character in the animated series. Like, we still don't know what his endgame motives are or why he spared Richter despite personally knowing what a man driven to vengeance will do. Did he do it out of pure arrogance? Did he do it because he feels a person deserves their chance at revenge and he really doesn't have that much to live for anymore and so figures "Eh, what's one last nemesis to fight?" Did he do it because he figures a living Bellomont can be useful for whatever else he has planned, like being a wrench in the plans of megalomaniacal vampires? It's interesting because unlike many other vampires we've seen, he doesn't really seem to have any goals for conquest or world domination. He's really just kind of doing his own thing.
I really don't think he is a bad guy, he avenged the death of a loved one, and almost lost if the dumb brat hadn't started shootin fire at him, his mom was instantly distracted and that's what killed her

Jeez, although you acknowledge the anime Olrox is deeper than the video game version, you contradict this with statements like, “his relentless pursuit of power” which we never see played out on the show. It’s as if you have a hard time presenting the character as-is without buzzwords.
Kinda makes me wonder why did Richter's mom kill Olrox's beloved? Was that person a vampire or was he killed just because he was associated with Olrox? In the video, you mention olrox's partner was a vampire, but was it ever said in the show that they were because I didn't hear/see that at all. I remember him being a revolutionary but never that they were a vampire. I can easily be wrong though so if anyone can point out a source that'd be greatly appreciated.
Olrox in sotn doesn't even have a dialogue and just straight up fights you. he just sits there. not that hard to defeat but is an optional enemy if you don't plan to 100%+ the game. So kinda surprised they made him a major character in Nocturne! I hope season 2 comes out soon. I wanna see me some Alucard action.
Orlax is an Aztec turned vampire that is possessed by a dragon. It seems all the stronger vampires have pacts with demons or dark spirits. Drolta is possessed by a succubus and Erza bet is fully possessed by Sekmet. The dark spirits feed off of the chaos they create. In return the spirits give them exclusive abilities and if the host is in danger the spirit takes full form to protect itself and it's host.
Vlad the Impaler was also known as Vlad III Dracula. The name Dracula means “son of Dracul.” In the Romanian language today, dracul means “the devil”-drac is “devil,” ul is “the”-but it is derived from the Latin dracō, “dragon.” (Dragons have been historically associated with Satan, hence the evolution.)
I liked the animated series but there is one thing. They try to make every character loveable and taking context from variety of games and leaving almost nothing for the future
The second he changed his name into Orlox, he gave in to colonialism. If they were gana make him Aztec, why not give them an Aztec name? Or closest to one?
🤔 You could argue when he became a vampire he's now transcended the philosophies, morals, ethics, and ideologies of the human world. *In the context of colonialism and a vampire, I imagine Vampires would just see their food fighting and exploiting each other for resources.* The aversions to colonialism would be contingent on humanity which Olrox no longer has. So keeping the name *"Olrox,"* despite being created by colonialism. Is the only remnant of his humanity, despite its abhorrent origins and representation in the human world.
By the shape of his nose wich is a little pointed, I would say he is Mestizo or mix blooded. One side of his family would be native American while the other be European.@@Mister_Terrific806
@@Amadeo790 His straight nose could be from the rape, violence, and cultural genocide that accompanied colonialism, or the genetic randomness associated with phenotypic expressions. All humans carry the genes for phenotypic expressions considered to be essential. Race is a *social construct* with there being more genetic similarity *(99.9%)* among individuals, than between groups that have been assigned a racialized category considered to be *biologically essential.* You don't need to be European or have European lineage, to display phenotypic features considered to be Eurocentric. Examples: *Environmental pressures:* High amounts of solar radiation, arid, dry, hot climates, deserts, sandstorms, windy areas, starvation, and epidemics such as malaria. *Natural selection/Phenotypic expression:* *Solar radiation-* Melenated skin in people of African descent. *Malaria epidemic-* sickling of red blood cells in people of African descent. *Starvation-* fat-hoarding "thrifty genes" in Native Americans *Deserts, windy areas, sandstorms-* monolid eyes, or epicanthic folds(slanted eyes) in Asians and some tribes in Africa(Khoisan).

Basically, Castlevania's version of Orochimaru.
Olrox is the man! It’s about time they expanded on him. Also you forgot Olrox from Castlevania Lord of Shadows 2.
Was a fan of castlevania game since 1993 and I don't have any problems with changes with Annette and olrox
So was I the only one that imediadly got gay/ at least bi vampire- Anne Rice vibs.😅🌶🌻
Jeez, although you acknowledge the anime Olrox is deeper than the video game version, you contradict this with statements like, “his relentless pursuit of power” which we never see played out on the show. It’s as if you have a hard time presenting the character as-is without buzzwords.
Feathered serpent Aztec power 💪🏽 💥
hes "gay" appearance in Netflix adaptation remind me of Rob Pilatus from Milli Vanilli
Olrox says in the show that his lover was a vampire he turned him. This was in the episode where he did the deed w Mizrak
In games olrox was just another vampire trying to take over draculas casttle, but in the end it was draculas casttle and its owner came back.(dracula)
Olrox is most interesting of any character other than St Germaine.
10:42 THE WAY BRO JUST SAID IT SO CASUALLY
im in love with his look. very sexy.❤😊
He looks like a dragon, not vampire
He looks like Kukulkan/quetzalcoatl…because you know…Aztec. People just love being obtuse on purpose it’s incredible.
@@arcturionblade1077also a serpent formally with wings
I liked the animated series but there is one thing. They try to make every character loveable and taking context from variety of games and leaving almost nothing for the future
The second he changed his name into Orlox, he gave in to colonialism. If they were gana make him Aztec, why not give them an Aztec name? Or closest to one?
🤔 You could argue when he became a vampire he's now transcended the philosophies, morals, ethics, and ideologies of the human world.
*In the context of colonialism and a vampire, I imagine Vampires would just see their food fighting and exploiting each other for resources.*
The aversions to colonialism would be contingent on humanity which Olrox no longer has.
Race is a *social construct* with there being more genetic similarity *(99.9%)* among individuals, than between groups that have been assigned a racialized category considered to be *biologically essential.*
You don't need to be European or have European lineage, to display phenotypic features considered to be Eurocentric.
For example, some Aboriginals (the oldest living human population) have blonde straight hair, blue eyes, and dark melanated skin, *long before being colonialized by the British.*
Phenotypic expressions are influenced by gene frequencies(the number of times a particular phenotype appears in a population) and environmental pressures which cause natural selection of the specific loci for the phenotype being expressed.
Examples:
*Environmental pressures:* High amounts of solar radiation, arid, dry, hot climates, deserts, sandstorms, windy areas, starvation, and epidemics such as malaria.
*Natural selection/Phenotypic expression:*
*Solar radiation-* Melenated skin in people of African descent.
*Malaria epidemic-* sickling of red blood cells in people of African descent.
*Starvation-* fat-hoarding "thrifty genes" in Native Americans
*Deserts, windy areas, sandstorms-* monolid eyes, or epicanthic folds(slanted eyes) in Asians and some tribes in Africa(Khoisan).
@@Mister_Terrific806 I don’t know how to see that “above morality” shtick as more then a childish excuse for being an ass and just as bad as your oppressors lol. Apparently fighting for slavery in his support of Bathery and banging what, by such logic, to be bestiality. It’s all excuses from the envious and weak honestly, Drac had it right to just stop being so high and mighty.
Your outro need some edits bro!!
Excited 4 next season
Aztec! Nevermind about being his boyfriend! He'd turn me then stake me and take my life insurance
It's NOT a spinoff, but a sequel. There's a difference.
didnt someone call olrox a dragon in nocturne or am i misremembering? if so why wasnt this mentioned at all in this?
kinda. erszebet said to him something like this, when he asked her how she knew of him. she responds, "a goddess should keep track of her dragons, yes?"
Fuck. Fuuuck. I forgot Nocturne was coming out and watched all of this, lol. Csstlevania on Netflix is one of the best shows of all time.
One of my favorite characters
Orlax is the first gay character I actually admire. I think that says it all
I think Orlax consumed an Aztec gods blood granting him the power to turn into the feather serpent. In the series obviously!
I like him
Nah, bro is just a handsome gay vamp, nothing more
Olrax looks like Michael Jackson in SOTN
when iv seen Orlox at his first transformation i instantly think of Zul Gurub Hakkar dunno why :D
Them having sex, like kinda immediatley, even though the knight guy fucking hates the vampire, wasn't neccessary, was it?
I mean, it was forced & not realy leading anywhere, the "affection" could've been done in a more subtle way, right?
Besides of that, I think both are good characters!
I mean, unless we go with the stereotype of Gays will have sex on an instant. specially from a knight of god that is sexually repressed.
Yeah that was so odd
I think it's meant to highlight how overwhelmingly sensual and seductive Olrox is, so much so that a prudish christian dudebro was willing to d him down so easily
@@ytalgorithmperfected3561 on no, he is going to get alucard as well...
You would think that.
im huge believer of keep it simple and never ever race or gender swap or sex . Unless it enhance the character and it rarely ever happens. Orlox was great for i was captivating was he good bad.
to be fair. og orlox had nothing plotwise
I’m just curious is Alucard going to show up in this series. I can appreciate them, adding a new Series to the Dracula franchise. But they didn’t give us any closure at the end of Castlevania. Dracula came back along with his wife and Alucard was building a new village along with Belmont and cipher. Update in message below
i feel like you did not watch the season lol
Dude did you even watch the season? You wouldn’t be typing this nonsense if you did 😅
Fell asleep, finally seen him at the end. Now I’m curious about season two. Just read online. Dracula may show up as well.
@@mrcuboid now that you have your update, feel free to insult me further.
Just saw this video, and realized that i killed it in SOTK and didnt even know it was him...😂
Yes, netflix is making a very good job , a better job than Konami has been doing for the last 10 years or so!
Then again i think the new season is not as good as the first one!
The first trio is better and of course does not Drácula and Isaac!
A variation of the name Orlok.
How creative…..
And Kolor-ful 🌈 😂
If you played the game, you'd know that the name isn't even consistent. "Orlok, Orlox, Oralox, Olrox..."
@@Bluesit32 from i remember the character was inspired in the count orlok, famous for the nosferatus movie 1922. thats why the game design resemble a nosferatus pale blue skin, and bald.
He is called like that in the games.
@@panoctic the pale blue was from the blue lens filter at that time to designate night from day. Orlok was likely just a pale dead color.
I hated him because he killed Julia, BUT after character development as to why and seeing who he is as a character he grew on me and I kind of hope he doesn’t die and reforms although he did killed Richter mom infront of him and rubbed it in his Face I would understand if he had to die 😭
Bro is Pocahontas fr
wrong continent
@@chakradarrat8832Olrox is from the same continent as Pocahontas, they're both Native Americans.
@@tameralynn3689 wouldn't he be southern american
@@chakradarrat8832 No, Aztecs are from Northern Mexico originally, but migrated to Central Mexico. Northern México are some áreas that is current day United States(California, Arizona, New México, Texas, Nevada, Colorado, Utah etc.). So he'll be considered from North America, even though we currently consider México central América, it's actually apart of North America.
@@tameralynn3689 my mistake. sorry
Ah yes, the Rizzler
Olrox turn into Indoraptor in the game.
RichTera canon, auntie T got the mommy tt's
But where is Orlox family that he turned into swords?
It's accurate too because homosexuality wasn't accepted in old Aztec culture so it makes sense that he would travel to meet sexual partners
Y'all really need to summarize that history lesson/intro of yours. Lots of moments were wasted.
Hmm, aztek vampire = pillarman. Prove me wrong.
Say Olrox one more time, I dare you.
Olrox. You're welcome.
Xorlo
Olrox
So he does not turn into a green dragon but a green lizard
Quetzalcoatl! Man you butchered the word hehe
You forgot he's also extremely gay
is there a tier level of gay that he is somehow at the top of?
So?
Who was playing?😅
Wasnt the new big bad supposed to be Dracual's niece?
That is Erzsebet.
to say she has been changed is a understatement.@@Ninjaananas
@@fistimusmaximus6576
Why are you people still suprised at changes?
what do you mean "You people".
Joking aside its because I played castlevania as a kid and with any franchise I dislike when the lore is changed/ characters altered from orignal. It applies to all franchises not just this one and also because this series should be leading to the symphony of the night which is considered the best game.@@Ninjaananas
Also cant really say the changes where for the better either, spend more time learning out the plight of Annette and her people (she was just a love interest and a non character and also white french girl) than the main characters. Also castlevania is supposed to be a gothic horror also this is supposed to be france..other than the odd revolution you wouldn't have known. Just hope season 2 doesnt do dracula dirty and imply his niece is stronger.
I swear it's like some of the mispronouncations are on purpose or something with this channel. It'll be things that are commonly said and still be mispronounced.
He Gggggaaaayyyy
How can he be in the sun tho
