If it was for me, every spaa should be like pantsir. Op. Fuck cas. Go to play air battles if you want to have easy life with planes. Let tankers farm their vehicles.
It's not even that strong. Just skill issue if you die from it. You can literally kill it with 7.92 so if you don't see it that's on you
850 hp, can go 65 kph, leopard 1 hull, 93mm flat pen, great turret travers (basically stabilised with ace crew), apart from the slightly exposed crew this thing has no downsides
I mean the whole can be killed with a light mg from the front is a pretty BIG downside. It's like if the asu57 was the size of the maus
Good thing almost every tank in the game can kill it with the spacebar then. Also extremely weak to aircraft, a single pass is usually enough to kill it.

@@samadams2203 The whole game is mostly about one or two shots. Armor is the least useful stat in the game. Its not World of Tanks where armor actually matters (that doesnt make it the better game, dont get me wrong).

I feel like this should've been given the HE-VT, so we couldd have an interesting and effective AA at a higher BR to actually kill planes and not just be a nightmare for ww2 tanks

@@TheArklyte HE-VT works regardless of the gun having a fcs or not. as he-vt is just a he round with a small doppler radar fuze instead of a inpact or timer fuze. litte history, this tech first came about in old large naval guns at the end of ww2

This thing is basically the reverse of the R3. R3 has insane AA capability at a low tier, but this Leo 1 with 40mm turret has insane anti-tank capability at a low tier.
It’s also a leopard hull, so besides the turret your pretty well armored

Suggestion. Play the 3.3 Puma AT 6.7. as a German Main who hasn't got the lepkz yet, i can confirm it still holds up well.

You would get extremely similar results with the Phong Kong as well, at the same BR(the leo is better, for a variety of small reasons, but they are very similar).
@prestongarvey6858 The Amx-13 DCA is far slower than the leopard. Doesn't have a built in singularity on the front plate. Then also basically isn't almost a stabilized gun like the leopards.
You mean the ammo that protects the crew? You get shot and you blow up. It also doesn't have good reverse speed which is important to get in and out of firing positions.

Theres a pretty obvious pattern with spaa vehicles. The zsu 57 2, pantsir, leo 40 70. Maybe gaijin will give us US mains a good spaa vehicle between the m42 and the m163

Well if Gaijin we're to add the T69 MGMC (M8 Greyhound with a new designed quad mount turret for the Browning .50 cal.), people would lose their minds.
Or the T77 (M24 Chaffee with a sextuple .50 cal. turret). Either way, US mains will be happy that the US tech tree has a new low-tier AA.
I think the biggest reason this thing is OP is it doesn't fit the meta of the BR bracket. It plays more like an IFV but fights slow and lumbering WW2 vehicles
Although Gajin will probably never fix it. Because fixing it will be too much work.

@@rhystaylor851 The Wirbel and Ostwinds use different cannons. I don't think the wireless ever had a lot of pen. I know the Ostwinds did. Either way Gajin is probably gonna just slap all of it.

I love high-pen Auto cannon tanks in low tier it makes the game so much fun and it’s super balanced. The L62 takes so much skill to use.
This thing is broken bc the front plate is too thick to pen but where the crew actually are has next to no armour so shells just pass straight through so it ends up being really hard to kill or disable before it kills or disables you with 40mm spam

@@polygondwanaland8390 I mean yeah if you are the one being targeted then you're probably fucked, but if you see the thing taking out a buddy you can use your HE to basically one tap it regardless of what filler you got. Only caveat is that your buddy needs to carry HE and get your back too, which is a coinflip depending on the playerbase being in school or not.
I will always remember when the t17e2 just came out, when the british tree was still fairly new, it could pen like anything at its tier pretty easily

This is how war thunder teaches us about history
They take away stuff like the Panther II for being paper tanks, and then put a chassis designed in 1954 at 5.0
You should uptier the Chaffee to 5.3-6.7, the 100mm flat pen is enough for flanking and the tank itself holds up extremely well in rat warfare tactics
You should play jagpanzer cuz its just too good for 4.3
It has good cannon and armor that cant be penned by most tanks in 4.3

I prefer the AMX-10 DCA-40 more than this tbh. Although not as fast (18hp/t vs 23hp/t) it's still faster than most tanks at it's BR and has continuous fire instead of a short reload every 4 rounds and is 0.7 BR lower.
Yeah, was about to say, if this thing is so supposedly "OP", why is the DCA-40 at 4.3 bothering nobody? I honestly believe that it's a case of the people playing it, not the tank itself.
@@no-legjohnny3691 Dude, the AMX-13 DCA 40 compared to this thing is like saying some village kid with a musket is equal to a fully trained soldier outfitted with a modern rifle. It's not even a contest. The leopard is so fast it outruns turret rotation all over the BR. AMX-13 DCA is much slower than a leopard 1, and the gun handling is way worse due to the insanely bouncy AMX-13 suspension.
Oh, and by the way, both of them can be killed by coaxial MGs, except the AMX loses so much speed when turning and accelerates so slowly that turret traverse is usually capable of keeping up with it, unlike this thing.

This, the breda 501, both italian fireflies, and the p47 make italy 5.0 absurdly strong (especially if you play ratty... so the perfect spookston lineup)

in one 6.3 game I ran into and killed a btr-zd rushing a cap, a btr-152d rushing my friend, another btr-zd camping an objective, and a leopard 40-70 spawn camping. 6.3 is pain

My boozer in statistics, you do understand the doctrine for using Bofors meant every gun with firing line fired on the target, right? This is why there is so much ammo expended per kill, because this is a fully automatic gun with ammo that comes in clips you simply run through the entirety of on principle, and you don't want a plane or some dinghy fucking your boat up in the middle of nowhere watery abyss.

Not true. The gun on the 2.7 L-62 fires at half the rate of fire and has less penetration (it's an earlier variant).

I'm also gonna say about this thing... the turret is really troll-y. Not only is it never going to arm shells, but it can be pretty hard to pick-out the crew members with your coax. Assuming it doesn't just pop into cover the moment you start retaliating, since you're never going to take it down in one go. Altogether, awful to fight/10
Controversial statement: im fine with where its at. Now i dont play italy and i mostly play top tier, but the leopard 40/70 is usable at this br. If you move it up it could potentially become useless like most spaas that are moved up. Instead of moving it up, teach players to be more aware in rb because the guys you played against had less awareness than helen keller.
It can still penetrate the side of a Tiger 2, so I call bullshit, as I have used the BTR to shit on them. You just want to abuse it. Copy pasta vanilla R3 logic.

@GeraltofRivia22 its not that op. First of all you have to get to the side of most opponets to kill them. You have no armor. And most people in this video were absolutely braindead and had no proper map positioning. The m18 gmc is literally better in every way including mobility. Are you going to start complaining about that now too? And players need to be more aware. The vehicles not that op.

Here buddy lets compare the m18 gmc to the """"op"""" leopard 40/70. Lets start with the leopard!
Leopard 40/70 has no armor to stop anything besides machine gun fire, but just enough to set off every aphe round in game, meaning 0 survivability. On top of this it can be easily overpressured by he, and both gunner and loader can be easily machinegunned, not just by 50 cals since part of them are exposed. Ammo can be set off by 50 cals even from a longer range. Gun has up to 90mm of pen, which drastically decreases from even small ranges and has awful angled pen performance. The round is to small to reliably break gun barrels on larger tanks unless you directly hit the muzzle, meaning that the enemy has to be aiming at you. Which is bad. But it is automatic with a short reload. Its only plus. Oh almost forgot it has almost 0 gun depression since its an aa vehicle. So using hills and slopes is just a bad idea.
Its top speed is 66 km forward, 26km reverse with mediocre acceleration.
Now the m18!
Top speed:81 km forward, 26 km reverse with great acceleration. Already its significantly faster and has the same reverse speed. Has armor thats thick enough to stop 50 cals unless point blank, and a lot of aphe rounds will go through without detonating. It also has a much lower profile than the leopard, making it much harder to spot.(you can also cover it in bushes, making it nearly impossible to spot) its even better at flanking than the 40/,70 since its faster and has a much lower profile. Has apcbc with 149mm of pen, and great angled performance, meaning all tanks except for an angled tiger can be penned frontally and one shot killed (disabled if panther since youll have to aim for the mantlet) if you dont play it like
Your supposed to and dont flank for some reason. Its mobile enough to where you can relocate your position to a new spot if noticed. And its reload speed is decent.
Winner: m18 gmc.

This tank has given me PTSD. A lot of Italian tanks do this to me, especially the Breda 501; I honestly, hated it so much i memorized the engine sound, that if I ever hear it, I immediately switch to HE w/out hesitation.
Now the leopard is worse, it deletes at a slower and more painful rate
