As someone who stayed at The Strat last year about this time for a friends wedding that cafe literally kept me alive when we were there! That place is fire! Sorry it didn’t work out but at least you got to see the sights… if your hair wasn’t in your face.

I was there and had tickets to Saturday! Super bummed it got cancelled but they made the right call. The wind was no joke. I ended up at the Strat as well and can see myself in your video for a split second as you pan the crowd. It was definitely a lot of people, my buddy and I didn’t last very long there either. Wish I would’ve seen you there and I could’ve said hi!

I also had tickets for Saturday. I came over from Florida and when I found out it was cancelled I was crushed. I ended up paying way too much for resale tickets on stubhub to go to the Sunday show. I have to say it was worth it though. It was such a good time. I'm sad you didn't come to the Sunday show but I tot,ally get that emotional drain feel. That's exactly how I felt Saturday.

I was waiting in line when word broke that it was canceled. Fortunately for me, I only flew in from Oregon, but it was still soul crushing. I did manage to make it over to Soul Belly to see (kinda) The All American Rejects and ended up drinking with a few random guys from the Bay Area that were there for the fest too for the rest of the evening. So salvaged what I could, but still. Very sad about how yesterday panned out

I appreciate this video. My GF and I were staying at the Sahara so we could hear sound check still happening Saturday morning!! When we got the email (I got an email) that the show was canceled, it crushed her. More than it crushed me but it suuuuucked to see her crushed. This was her Coachella and as she was getting dressed and ready, the show got canceled.
We had heard of bands trying to do free shows on the strip which credit to the bands for trying but it sounds like it was a disaster as well. My gf was napping when I saw the announcement for the show at The Strat, which we could have walked to from the Sahara. She opted not to go and from what you showed of the Strat, not going was actually the right call. I thought the strat had some kind of little concert venue or something. Didn't realize bands would be playing on the casino floor! Lol. So that must have been disastrous for staff and guests!

As a Vegas local even though the festival didn't work out you should still make the most of it, there's a ton of stuff to do out here that you can't enjoy anywhere else

She did make the most of it. She rode the monorail a bunch of times. It's not her fault Vegas isn't that entertaining for some people.
@@hiya1399 definitely this! I went to Vegas for literally 1 day for a concert some years ago, I flew in and the next day we flew out and even in just 1 day I could tell that shit is not my style. I was going to go sat but decided to take another trip instead to watch a different band and holy shit I'm glad because the flights and hotels were not cheap.

Vegas is one of the worst cities in the country (I’ve been dozens of times, as a kid and adult). There isn’t much to do that’s actually fun imo.

I saw the post from WWWY and they say they will refund the people that bought straight from the distributors, but do you have to have the insurance that was additional cost when you bought the tickets or is it for everyone?

Had a wild weekend, was at the gat at 9:30 AM to be the first to get in. Kept refreshing facebook to see when the gates would open. Saw the news and bought tickets for sunday ASAP before they went to 1k each. Walked the line outside to tell everyone it was cancelled and everyone just laughed and thought it was a joke.

That sucks that they let it play out the way it did. I suppose it's good that they intend to go on with the show tomorrow but it really sounds like it won't happen at this point. Saturday rooms in Vegas are NOT cheap and I feel for the people that flew in from far away to be there. There's other stuff to do in Vegas (FOOD!!) but it's just not the same thing.
Unfortunately it's not uncommon for things to get cancelled or close due to wind in Vegas. I noticed the neon museum was closed on the same day as the festival day cancellation too.

I had tickets for day 2. The wind was still pretty strong when my flight arrived so I was worried that the wind wasn't going to stop💀.
I did not expect a video about this from you, some good heavy bands on the bill, try check out as much as you can even if you don't know them, you'll be entertained at the very least.

I'm not op but I actually find it shocking when people don't travel alone. I'm currently traveling alone in a different country and I travel alone at least once a year. I love it. Noone to coordinate with just all the fun you can have. I take my husband out once a year or every other year with me in my travels but alone is the way to go for me. We are all different on our needs and likes.

I'm not fully sure I understand how you and others were thinking the wwy festival was sus or a scam? They picked a weekend probably in March or whenever they announced it and had everything set. How would they know what the weather on October 22nd was going to be like? Hopefully the rest of the weekend AND next year's will go smoothly 🤞

I was devastated myself, I don’t know it was cancelled until I was going down the elevator. 😞 I was able to buy a ticket the morning of for the Sunday show
most of the bands were doing free shows at assorted venues. All American Rejects played at Soul Belly BBQ, for example. the lead singer of Saosin did a solo acoustic show at the Plaza, and many others.
They did. There were 80k fans from both days looking for places to be though. Getting in anywhere was a serious struggle.
a few friends and i we were trying make it to a lot of these shows but we couldnt get into any of them because you had to pay for a brand new ticket (bring me the horizon), you needed a room key (hawthorne heights/red jumpsuit), or u need to be over 21 (saosin and literally all of these places lol). it really sucks we were running around having our hopes up so much just to be completely disappointed. worst concert experience of my life
And the best/most popular bands that most people bought their tickets to see didn’t do anything.
@@pup9231 I was at the Hawthorne show at the Strat, and didn’t have a room key. There was a crowd of Emo’s walking in at around 3pm and a security guy by the door had singled me out to ask where my key was….and I just kept walking through, lol. That secret show was SUPER packed(i saw some one girl even climb on a slot machine to get a better view, and one small fight broke out). The show itself was pretty hard to hear since it was unplugged, but Jumpsuit and Armor did really good. Also, I had found out that a few of my friends from LA had hitched a ride to Vegas without ANY tickets at all, and managed to sneak into the Festival with just a copy of their other friends tickets on their phone, and said that the security didn’t even scan it! It made me feel really bad for all of the people that couldn’t go on Saturday

You know it's crazy. My friend and I met for the first time after years of knowing each other because of this show. We have been running around together all week. We were finalizing all our stuff before we left the hotel and a stanger came up to show us the cancellation. We were devastated. The people we saw were also pretty bummed. But as the day progressed and feeling the wind, we were actually kind of grateful. Yes I'm upset that we weren't able to make it but I'm much happier they made the call. There were multiple times a day where we just went inside so we could breath easier. No need to risk the stages when we were already dodging palm trees at TI. Honestly the only people I really see calling this Fyre Fest 2.0 obviously aren't here. I do believe that this was just bad timing. The only thing I wish they would have done is warn when they knew it was a chance that it may happen. I hope everyone that goes today is having fun and is safe. The fact bands like senses fail, AAR, Hawthorne Heights, etc. were trying to make sure people could still enjoy the music they came to see is just more reason to love this community. Sending all my sad vibes to the fans today!

Hosting a festival right after monsoon season not a good idea for this area especially for outdoor venue. I would think the month of May would be perfect like the 2015 Rock n Rio.
