I think you hit the nail on the head with in work poverty and linking this to strength of trade unions being inadequate in the hospitality and tourism sector. I think we can talk about minimum wage rates too as an important factor. The tax system being less progressive is an important point, but also what about the consideration of social benefits? We may even talk about pension entitlements. I know this was not about wealth inequality, but ownership of assets may go on to explain how wealth and income are mutually reinforcing since wealth can generate multiple streams of income for those individuals who have Assets to begin with. This is why the definition of income inequality cannot simply be based on just work alone but the streams of income available to someone.
