I'm still listening too! Some music drifts in and out of your life, played to death in the day and then... You try and remember old tunes and bands under pressure and then bing-bang-bong you're tucking someone in or pouring another and then, the brain being as disengaged as it could possibly get, it drops a Waifs hook in your lap! A cracking burrow to return to.
Awesome! Thank you 🙏 so much for posting this wonderful band 💕 All beautiful people, I’ve been incredibly lucky to have met twice at small venues. Down to earth all of them.
Real honest music.nothing superficial. The Music is what it is. CONGRATULATIONS.LOVE YOUR LYCRICS.SO NATURAL.HATS OFF TO ALL OF You. We all breathe and sing to your songs.take care of each other and Families. Mary Young.
Blessed to have seen them about a dozen times. Several of those right up at the stage, dancing at their feet...wonderful. I cant say which is my favorite song, because there are so many that I love. I now follow Vickie Thorn & her band the Thornbirds, Josh Cunningham & Donna Simpson in their individual careers. Hoping for 1 more Waifs reunion tour in the U.S.
I first saw them at The Loft at the National Folk Festival in Canberra in 1999. My memory is there was about two dozen at the gig. They were so good, even then - just Donna, Vikki and Josh at that stage. Their first gig in Sydney was at The Three Weeds later that year - and they were just the support act.
This show is a Godsend. This month i left the office job and am going all in on full time comedy. "Take it in" is the epitome of inspiration and the terrifying prospect of failure..Thank you, from a Scotsman who spent a month kite surfing in Cervantes..She'll be right!
Had been performing for 15 years when this was broadcast in 2008, but I just found them this year. Have now purchased all of their cd's, since that's the only way I can show my appreciation of their superb talent. They're so good, I wish I'd found their music while they were still touring.
I dont know if im overthinking this because im stoned, but ive watched to 38minutes and the last while ive noticed awkward eneergy between the sisters... like Vikki keeps lookign at Donna to connect and Donna keeps looking away like... like im reading it hard that there's some weirdness in their connection right now. Anyone else noticed???
Eeeek now a little tiff at 41 minutes haha Donna is cranky about something how awkard to bring that on stage in front of so many people! What a show.. yeh one sister was having it out for the other one on stage hahah
Yeah, I saw them live one time and wondered if there was something going on between them. Later I saw an interview where they talked about sometimes bickering with each other in the early days while on stage and it and even almost breaking up. Perhaps they have a love hate relationship. I don't like seeing it either. Love the band, wish they got more exposure here in the states. Love Vicki's singing & playing the bluesy harmonica.
